1.
Annoyed at the bbc , for not telling us what time they were showing them. Did they show a consecutive hour, or was it chop and change to other bands ? Sounds like I haven't missed much
The time was well advertised, I thought..? They showed an hour of their set, live as it happened (pretty much). I thought it was OK. Not great. But then I've never quite got the Stones live experience. They always sound in a hurry to get back to their hotel.
 2. Jesus. Parts of 2000 Light Years From Home sound like the incidental music from a hopeless provincial pantomime....
 3. Seasick Steve - country blues for people who buy CDs at ASDA.
 4.
To me, other than the subject matter is on topic for the forum, there is little to differentiate the original post from ones telling us that they've just discovered Eastern European Girlfriends, Cut Price Pharmaceuticals or Cheap Designer Handbags and we should discover them too.
There's quite a big difference, actually. Apart from protestations from people who find it dull, the OP has stimulated discussion about basses.
 5.
What does interest me is why the OP felt the need to post this in the first place and why others who chime in with their approval have done so as well.
Compared to some topics that have popped up on BC recently, this thread is almost a shining example of greatness....
 6.
Anyone know what he's up to?
I imagine he's probably having his breakfast.
 7.
Well if we're being fair, I never said I was ... in fact, that was pretty much my point.
'tis a fair point.
 8.
the Fender Special series (the active ones in lake placid blue and candy apple red, remember them?) that came out in 1983 I remember that they were pretty bad.
Actually, weight aside they were probably on a par with custom-shop quality. Fender were at the top of their game around then, with a small workforce turning out a lesser amount of instruments.
 9.
I still own two Fenders that were each more expensive than an Alleva Coppolo and a Mike Lull added together. Far more attractive investment than a bloody pension fund. One was made in 1965: And one was made in 1957:
Ah but... to be fair, going back to your original comment - price-wise, you're not comparing like with like.
 10.
The best-playing Fender I've ever owned says "Mike Lull" on the headstock. The second-best Fender I've ever owned says "Alleva Coppolo" on the headstock. The two most expensive basses I've ever owned say "Fender" on the headstock. Sweeping generalisations are always tricky ...
You owned a Fender that was more expensive than an Alleva Coppolo? Was it made of gold...?
 11.
4 pages in and nobody has said Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit! Well i just have done.
Doesn't that start with guitar?
 12. ^^^ Him there. That's who you need to speak to.
 13. 'Red indian'...? Are you the Duke of Edinburgh in disguise?
 14.
Guy Pratt why he played live with Pink Floyd used a fretless P for songs like Hey You and High Hopes..... I don't know about the original recordings but they sound great on my Defrettted Ibanez with a little bit of reverb
I'm fairly sure GP used a Status and latterly a Lakland J...
 15.
Can you see what I am saying though?
I really don't. Sorry. And what is the 'Neil Young thing to do' anyway? This sounds like the David Geffen / George Jones story all over again....
 16. ...and don't forget, he's probably selling up to fund Lincvolt. Pretty cool, I say.
 17.
Aha - but he drags out the old favourites every time I have seen him play.
What, like Surfer Joe? Three songs off the new album? Two unheard songs? And hours of feedback experiments? No Cowgirl, no Down By the River....
Here comes another crazy horse record and a tour to shore up the bank account....and...here we have another record and another tour to keep it rolling in.
Yep... there goes Ol' Neil on another Crazy Horse record and tour. It's only been ten years since the last tour and longer since the last record. He's certainly flogging that cash cow to death. Sorry - there's no doubt you're a big fan, but I'm not quite sure what expect from him. He's 67, and he's still on the cutting edge.
 18. It's not, but it could have been if it stuck around for 10 minutes longer :-(
 19. I think you're being incredibly cynical. He's polarised audiences on this tour. And one of the albums he's just recorded with Crazy Horse has been baffling. These aren't the actions of someone selling out.
 20.
Maybe I am being cynical, but I think that Neil Young has become a bit of a 'sell out' now.......
Wow... I couldn't disagree more.
