1. Are you sure it's a BC server problem?
2. TC RH450 owners have a choice here...
3. FWIW, I read your original post and it didn't give me the impression you were the seller...
4. Randy Meisner Mike Rutherford Roger Waters Timothy Schmidt Rod Clements Geddy Lee Brian Wilson Nick Lowe Jeff Tweedy John Deacon Rick Danko Chris Hillman John Entwistle
5. I face 'generic zero-definition bass tone' syndrome quite often. I try not to stress about it these days, 'cos if the engineer wants to mix the band from the drums up there's nowt you can do about it. I generally insist on a mic or post-DI which I think helps. Every now and then we get someone who knows what mids are, and what flatwounds should sound like. I cherish those moments.
6. Simpl reason fer me - I want to be in charge of what I hear on the stage.
7. Gah! I was just about to press the button.....
8. '68s have the single-coil.
9.
http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=86876&p=978897#p978897 Read it ALL.
I think, my friend, you have issues with insecurity.
10.
I always thought of this forum as reasonably well informed, but some of the comments on this thread verge on comic parody. As far as I can tell no-one commenting on this thread (up till now) was there and so are basing their opinions on a tv mix of less than half of the full show. This is my favourite........ You don't know, you cannot judge - you have never seen them live!!
You're forgetting that I have ears.... which, despite dodgy TV mixes, can tell me if I like the music they're playing. I love a lot of Stones records. Gimme Shelter's groove is one of the best there is. But... musically, I've never heard them even begin to tap into that groove on live recordings of it. That's one example. Wether or not the sheer scale of the event compensates for that or not, I cannot say. Hence the disclaimer.
11. Boring old Fender... never trying anything new....
12.
I watched a few tracks on Iplayer.... and it was the Stones that you always get. You are never going to get anything unless you sacked Charlie and have a proper MD and show. Running everything off the whim of the gtr is a recipe for disaster that even the top sidemen can struggle with. It is the Stones...always have been ..always will be...don't expect anything else. People still buy their tickets. The one man who earnt his money was Jagger..IMO..considering the other two can hardly stand up..
? Charlie carries it, IMO.
13.
Guys, if you can't say anything nice... don't be haters life's too short. Just change the channel. They have done well, and they are top fellas.
I'm sure they are, and fair play to 'em.
14. In case this is news to anyone... http://youtu.be/as4O2ZorKP8
15.
Folk-wise I think they are Bluegrass.
Bluegrass swings. Mumford... Don't.
16.
So true. A lot of music has the very soul wrenched from it in the name of 'perfection'. I'd rather hear something a little less perfect technically but which retains at least some connection on an emotional level. I've spent a few years composing in front of a computer screen myself, but would much rather play in a band of humans, with all their faults... in fact, because of their faults.
I dunno. I've always found them pretty soul-less live (although to be fair, I've never seen them in the flesh). Lots of attitude, but that alone can't carry it for me.
17.
Charlie has an odd drumming style. He tends to miss hitting the hi-hat every time he hits the snare.
It's a great feel - also employed by Levon Helm and Jim Keltner, amongst others.
18. I don't suppose SS is short of a bob or two himself...
19.
Annoyed at the bbc , for not telling us what time they were showing them. Did they show a consecutive hour, or was it chop and change to other bands ? Sounds like I haven't missed much
The time was well advertised, I thought..? They showed an hour of their set, live as it happened (pretty much). I thought it was OK. Not great. But then I've never quite got the Stones live experience. They always sound in a hurry to get back to their hotel.
20. Where *is* Gallstone-bury anyway?
21. Jesus. Parts of 2000 Light Years From Home sound like the incidental music from a hopeless provincial pantomime....
22. Seasick Steve - country blues for people who buy CDs at ASDA.
23.
To me, other than the subject matter is on topic for the forum, there is little to differentiate the original post from ones telling us that they've just discovered Eastern European Girlfriends, Cut Price Pharmaceuticals or Cheap Designer Handbags and we should discover them too.
There's quite a big difference, actually. Apart from protestations from people who find it dull, the OP has stimulated discussion about basses.
24.
What does interest me is why the OP felt the need to post this in the first place and why others who chime in with their approval have done so as well.
Compared to some topics that have popped up on BC recently, this thread is almost a shining example of greatness....
25.
Anyone know what he's up to?
I imagine he's probably having his breakfast.
