That City Hall vid is just amazing. Be proud dood! Mind, few more musicians than last time I saw them there . Beautiful bass. GLWTS
Cheers, Karlfer! That gig was at the Sage Gateshead. City Hall was a couple of months later with a different band. It was fun.

Rush - Clockwork Angels DVD trailer
The something really important missing from most of Rush's music for the last couple of decades , namely enough decent songs to make an album
Absobloodylutely. And lose all those VTs, too. We want to watch the band. -

Right, I'm digging my heels in - this time I'm not going to let emotion get the better of me. For sale: 1971 Fender Jazz. £SOLD.

.All-original apart from 200 quid's worth of Antiquity II pickups. (The originals are weak - I'll include them, and a rewind would sort them if you're that way inclined).
Wear is consistent with a gigged 42-year-old bass. No cracks or areas of concern.
Original ashtrays included.
Medium weight.
Neck straight and solid. The truss screw is flush with the heel.
The first few frets are starting to get a little low, but there's life in them yet.
Bridge has the the elongated screw on the 'G' which is correct for the era.
Comes with a letter of provenance from the guy that bought it new in 1971.
It currently has schaller straplocks fitted, but the original buttons will be re-fitted.
There's no case, so I'd prefer collection / meet / deliver locally at the moment. I'm in the Newcastle area. Any questions, ask away...

Rush - Clockwork Angels DVD trailer
love Rush, but how many DVD's are these guys going to release?. I have them all so buying another one is just overkill for me
There's an obvious reply to this, but I'm not going to say it. -

FWIW, when I started this thread the discussion was intended to be the way this specific complaint was handled. Nothing else. I have no opinion on AC otherwise. Never played one, couldn't afford one. :-) -
Tell me honestly, if that particular bass had come into the shop in the condition that it appears to be in from the photos and video posted would you have tried to sell it? Or would it have been send straight back to Jimmy asking WTF he was playing at?
It could have happened, too:
The only way I can possibly consider issuing a refund is if I find another buyer for the bass. I will reach out to all my dealers and distributors this afternoon to see if any of them will buy the bass. Might be old news, but just in case... here it is. The string section still makes my skin crawl...

Meh. It's OK, I suppose....

Barefaced Midget, Aguilar DB112, Berg HD/CN112....
wateroftyne replied to aj5string's topic in Amps and Cabs
Something else to consider. These won't shift anywhere near as much air as a Compact, but if you don't need that... They're ceramic and weigh only slightly more than a balloon. He does neo cabs in slightly bigger boxes, too.. -

wateroftyne replied to wateroftyne's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Ha... I can't be as cynical as most when it comes to the old loft ploy, because a few years ago I picked up a 1973 Rick 4001 as part of a job lot of stuff that had been in someone's loft for years. It can happen... -
I can't help but thinking those doing the most slagging off are people who have never owned or played an A-C bass and never have any intention of owning one .
What kind of insight would owning an AC lend to the debate about how Jimmy handled this particular transaction? -
Excellent! Buying and selling will be fine.
All academic now, but here's the bass, and the purchaser, before the blow-up, with the photos that sold it... wateroftyne replied to wateroftyne's topic in Bass Guitars
The response was nothing like this, and I think various OPs were 'told off' for raising the issue by those who might then do exactly the same. Hence I think it should cool off because none of us ultimately know the facts and/or are involved.
The difference in the current instance is that photographs have been produced to back up claims. Also, the 'accused' is a forum member so a public right to reply was always in the offing. Previous instances I can think of have consisted of vague and occasionally wild accusations away from the gaze of the 'accused', with very little clear information produced to back up those claims. And that shall be my last comment on this particular tangent. -
I think ultimately reviews of service will always exist, no matter what people do. If its a bad service, you should be allowed to discuss it but the extent of the AC thread is mind boggling. Threats? Bullying? Far too much.
It's the internet - idiots are never far away. You just have to ignore 'em. -
Random info: The bass part on this song is played on a Starfish EUB.

Someone has just pointed out that the 15th is Great North Run day. I'm checking to see what that actually means as far as routes to the venue are concerned. If it's going to be dodgy, we'll go for another date.
And we suddenly have lots of reading guests! Remember that not everyone is on FB, so please post updates on here too.
Will do! :-)
I should be able to make this one.
Ah, it'll be great to see you there with some shiny toys!
