1. Keep turning the cab 90 degrees onto each of it's sides. If it goes away, it's a cable lying on the speaker chassis or something like that.
2.
Great cabs. I have a 212 and a 215, the later one with a tweeter. I think my 215 weighs about 23 kg, they are however going out of production as far as I know. I used to test some prototypes for Tommy since we're based in the same area of Sweden, he's just the best guy ever
Yeah - I think he's replacing the 2x15 with 1x15s. I'd love to hear those...
3.
Love the band. Not a bad note throughout their career.
Pfff.... I'm a fanboi, but I think this is stretching it. Half of 'We Can't Dance' is execrable, and the other half isn't as good as it could be. And Rutherford phoned the bass parts in on the last two albums.
4. By the way, my old Seconds Out had a hilarious typo in the lyric booklet. '...and the lava's the lover who licks your boobs away...' Way-hey-hey!
5. Seconds Out is a great primer. I recently got the remastered sets - the remixes are revelatory. They have dynamics! The 1970-75 stuff is fantastic, and the Live Box is amazing. On Seconds Out there's a whole new percussion track on Cinema Show which is totally buried on previous mixes...
6. '...when one doesn't use the word "blues" when trying to get gigs, regardless of whether one also uses the word "rock", venues tend to say "no ta, we only want blues bands round this way".' Fixed to reflect the situation at many venues in my neck of the woods. :-) Thankfully, I like the blues. As long as it's not played by cack-handed shed builders.
7.
I see from the website that these 112's are specified to weight 10kg - does that sound about right?
Hard to believe, but it's true. They're not even Neo. Solid as a rock, too. They don't feel remotely flimsy.
8. We've had a thread on this recently. The generic festival bass tone: Gut-rearranging, yet inaudible.
9. It's like an alternative reality Crack Converters where people ON crack go into the shop, hand over all the money they own, and leave with some junk that looks like it was nicked from a charity shop.
10. I agree with you about the decline in songwriting, but IMO the downward turn happened after Hold Your Fire... there's probably one or two decent songs on each album after that. CA is still pretty 'meh' though, I reckon.
11. GUP is a great record. The balance of bass, guitar and keys is spot-on. It also captures the vibe of the era perfectly.
12. The OP jut asked about someone's tone - on a bass forum, of all places - and he's accused of having a lack of musical understanding? Get a grip.
13. Hello Anth! Thanks for the offer, but I don't do 5's...
14.
£300 shipped price each, that's amazing. Very tempting, I might have to check them out. Cheers Thebassman
Yep - incredible, really. His neo cabs are a bit pricier, but still very reasonable. Mind you, his ceramic cabs are 10kg, so the Neos must float.
15.
Agreed...time for something new imo.
The Jazz is fine. An amp, a 15" cab and a nice mic is all that's missing.
16. I got to play with Mark Knopfler, and didn't blow it. I'm not sure how I can top that, TBH. Here's a clip: http://youtu.be/j1Ys3SBl17g?t=4m15s
17.
Thy setup looks pretty tasty, is it 2 x 1x12's or 2 x 2x12's? What was the cost? Cheers Thebassman
1x12s...They sound tasty, too. Price info at this post.
18. Right... here we go again. It hurts to sell this... rarer than hen's teeth - I doubt you'll find another sunburst in the UK. Custom shop quality. Info here. £1200, complete with the factory fitted case, originally supplied bits (including a perspex ramp) and additional custom-made tort pickguard (hand-made by Howard the Bass Doc). It's a lovely light weight (but not a lightweight!). Will consider trades involving lightweight vintage P's, or other interesting P / P/J things. This pic shows the only flaw in the bass which I've just noticed - a little bit of the plating is coming off one of the saddles. Purely cosmetic: Here's a little video what I made... Local collection (Newcastle-ish) preferred. Shipping considered. Go on. You know you want to.
19.
Ah. It wasn't a thread... it was just me responding to your last inquiry! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/109898-who-remembers-sai-of-standish-coppull/page__p__1017003#entry1017003
Ha ha... My poor, addled memory. :-)
20. My dad has a heap of old heads gathering dust in the loft, including a couple of Sound Cities. I must pull them out and have a look. He also has a cute little thing called a Nolan. Anyone familiar with them? Looks 70s.
21. Hi Tom I'm sure you're a great bloke, but you might want to tweak your approach for the UK market...
22. It's just a bit of gentle fun, and the OP knows it:
Thank you all for your replies. I have had some enquiries and there's a couple of people who look to fit the bill, all being well! Thanks again for the replies and humour
23.
I like the original so wont buy it.
OK.
24.
Yes I did see the posts. Honestly, I am glad that you enjoy the updated material.... it's just not for me. I remember when Rush used to sing about integrity. This is a release to raise yet more capital.
I don't follow..? The fans have been crying out for a remix since it was released. Yeah, they should give it away free to everyone who bought it originally, but after ten years that was never going to happen. I'm not a fanboi either. I didn't go to the CA tour because the tickets were too expensive and I think they've lost the plot a little bit.
25.
Will it? I'm perfectly happy with the original version....if you choose to buy it then good luck with that. I am sure Geddy et al will be touched by your loyalty.
Yes, it will (IMO, of course). See my earlier posts about the previously-released remixes..
