(Yeah, yeah.. I know. I couldn't possibly get any uncooler anyway.)
I picked up the new Eagles documentary last week - four hours of interviews and archive footage tracing the history of the band. It's incredibly well put together, and it doesn't shy away from the battles between various members, management, etc. All very revealing stuff. I'd hate to be in a band with Glenn Frey (but the money could ease the pain).
The big thing for me is that there are interviews (current and archive) with Randy Meisner. IMO the guy is a legend, but he pretty much disappeared after leaving the band. It's great to hear him talk about his days as an Eagle.
I got the version with the bonus live DVD from 1977 - it's the footage that produced the live version of Hotel California you always used to see on MTV, but the audio and video has been restored and it's astonishing. Randy's playing a Rick with flats and it sounds great, and when he sings Take it to the Limit... whooah.
I know 90% of you won't agree, but... what a great band they were.
