1. Welcome aboard! Hopefully everyone can kiss and make up.
 2. By the way - if you're thinking about buying it, unlike the US version the Blu-Ray doesn't have the bonus concert disc. IMO it's essential, but you only get it with the DVD.
 3. (Yeah, yeah.. I know. I couldn't possibly get any uncooler anyway.) I picked up the new Eagles documentary last week - four hours of interviews and archive footage tracing the history of the band. It's incredibly well put together, and it doesn't shy away from the battles between various members, management, etc. All very revealing stuff. I'd hate to be in a band with Glenn Frey (but the money could ease the pain). The big thing for me is that there are interviews (current and archive) with Randy Meisner. IMO the guy is a legend, but he pretty much disappeared after leaving the band. It's great to hear him talk about his days as an Eagle. I got the version with the bonus live DVD from 1977 - it's the footage that produced the live version of Hotel California you always used to see on MTV, but the audio and video has been restored and it's astonishing. Randy's playing a Rick with flats and it sounds great, and when he sings Take it to the Limit... whooah. I know 90% of you won't agree, but... what a great band they were.
 4. Lovely, lovely basses! I'm had my IV for sale, but I'm pulling it because I love it so much. So blimmin' flexible. AND cool-looking.
 5. Your measured response doesn't change that, IMO, it looks like someone was sick onto a bit of paper and decided to use that as as the template.
 6.
They felt cumbersome, stiff and had a tacky/resisistant feel straight out the box and were no good for sliding with,
Giving them a good rub with an old cotton t-shirt helps to shift the tacky feeling.
 7.
Seconded! And proof of the flaws in the "tens for mid-punch and fifteens for bass" argument
Actually, if I'm not sorted with something by June, I might be knocking on your door cap-in-hand again.
 8.
Looks like a Deltalight and a cheap bullet in a thinwall cab. I must be missing something here as I don't see anything to get excited about.
You can tell that from the photos?
 9. I suppose there's a few types of signature basses: 1) Exact-ish copy - Pino 2) A version re-specced for mass production - Nate Mendel 3) Something built from scratch to the artist's spec - Roscoe Beck I can understand 3) costing a few quid, due to R&D.
 10.
Morning all - no problems musically, personally, etc. other than it seems to me that Auntie, yet again, selects and reports to its target audience a tale with limited information and not the full story. That's all........
I think you're over-analysing it. It's just a daft news story.
 11. I don't understand
What's the problem? A record for the number of consecutive weeks in the albums chart is based on... the number of consecutive weeks an album is in the chart. It's not like it's a value judgement on the merits of those recordings.
This. Not sure what the OP's point is.
 12.
Soul and gospel maybe but jazz I'm not hearing to be honest. Who is the singer and where is he from?
The Jazz influence comes from a lot of the material we do, not necessarily how it's played (wrong notes don't count). There's a lot of trad jazz / New Orleans tunes in there, and the whole genre developed from the 50s jazz scene. The singer is Peter Donegan, son of Lonnie.
 13. There's country in there for sure, but also rock and jazz. And soul and gospel, for that matter. The proportions of each have massive influence on the final sound, though. Little Feat are another example, I'd say.
 14.
My problem is what is a Blues, rock, jazz, folk band.
A few of my bands fall into that range of genres, kind-of. Here's one of them. 15. I've been playing it a lot recently, and it's making me think about selling my Jazz instead. Which would be ridiculous - so someone needs to buy it, quick. Here's someone else on an RBIV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfEXBpz620U
 16.
I thought I was alone in not liking the Midget. I wish Alex made a 112 with a fat, quality full range tone that would challenge Berg and Aguilar 112's.
Yes. Me too...
 17. Mrs. WoT & I are in quite a lot of bands together, and go on little tours pretty often. We treat them as a break away from the kids. Unless there's something she hasn't told me yet, I don't see any break-ups on the horizon...
 18. I iz bein a bit fikk... Are you asking for examples of music that include all those genres?
 19. There was an article about the show in the paper today...
 20. Ah - that'll be why whenever I'm venture south of Watford Gap people stop me in the street and ask me where the crazy golf is.
 21.
Has anyone noticed that the compares all have exactly the same, northern voice, no matter where they come from?
What does a northern voice sound like?
 22. The vintage I've used in the past has the nicest mids and top-end of any cab I've every owned. Presumably the S15 continues that...
 23.
Never been a big fan of The Police, but Stewart Copeland is an absolute genius.
He's a genius that speeds up. He would drive me MENTLE.
 24.
Having read peoples responses to this it looks like I got this wrong, so apologies to both Sting, and (completely separately) "The Police", and to anyone I may have upset here.
Sting's mum should be included in this, I reckon.
 25.
What pisses me off is that they were "The Police" and then it became "Sting and the Police"
No it didn't...
