I got a cover made up for my Ibanez Promethean. First one they'd had, so I had to do the measuring... and it was spot-on. I'm about to order another couple of covers from them, too.

Not Barefaced - Alex has a marvellous cab in prototype, but it could be a while before it goes into production. Not Lego (or Duplo). Not Fender. Not Trace. And as for Warwickhunt knocking things up over a lunch break - the less said about that the better...

[/quote] I can only comment on my own circumstances - most of the bands I play with have a very controlled on-stage volume. +1 to the rest of your post.

At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man (which I am, I suppose), a lot of these issues could be solved straight away if the FOH was TURNED DOWN A BIT and the subs were turned down a bit more still.

I face 'generic zero-definition bass tone' syndrome quite often. I try not to stress about it these days, 'cos if the engineer wants to mix the band from the drums up there's nowt you can do about it. I generally insist on a mic or post-DI which I think helps. Every now and then we get someone who knows what mids are, and what flatwounds should sound like. I cherish those moments.

Simpl reason fer me - I want to be in charge of what I hear on the stage.

[/b] [/quote] You're forgetting that I have ears.... which, despite dodgy TV mixes, can tell me if I like the music they're playing. I love a lot of Stones records. Gimme Shelter's groove is one of the best there is. But... musically, I've never heard them even begin to tap into that groove on live recordings of it. That's one example. Wether or not the sheer scale of the event compensates for that or not, I cannot say. Hence the disclaimer.
