1. I think the angle of my question is relevant given the context of this thread. I also think that Fender users are generally just happy where they are, and don't feel compelled to look down their noses at boutique fans (for example). Most of the comments seem to come the other way, this thread being a good example. Or am I wrong..? As for tone, it's subjective. No-one's ever going to win that one.
2. Nah - I'll stick with haters. But thanks for the feedback.
3.
Has anyone anywhere, apart from here, used the word "hate"? One thing that is repeatedly frustrating about this forum is users who introduce a loaded word into a thread as though it's already been used & then the discussion goes off on that tangent based on a false assumption. (see under "Beatles" thread)
You know what I mean... One thing that is repeatedly frustrating about this forum is people who take things too literally...
4. I'm a little in the dark with this, still. Would a Fender hater care to chip in and let me know in what ways my performance (musical, that is) would be improved if I were to play another brand? Thank you.
5.
^this. It's not a knot. And if the OP's "knot" had moved enough to distort a fret or cause a buzz it would have shown itself in the join between the f'board & the neck.
So... have we established that it's knot a not, and therefore it's knot going to have any effect on the neck. And, if it is a not, it would. Or have we knot?
6. Careful with these - quite a few of them have a dead spot around 7".
7.
From way back in the day (90's?) when I bought a MIM "Contemorary" Telecaster I was under the impression that MIM were US parts shipped to Mexico for the lower worker's pay rates to make a cheaper guitar but otherwise identical, so any noticeable difference is in the hands of who put it together, though as was once pointed out there's more Mexicans working at the US plant than there is Americans so it's a mute point. Was I mis-informed, or is this not now - or never was - the case?
No - generally speaking, the parts are sourced differently.
8. This thread has reinforced what I thought all along - Fender can't win.
9. I've just listened to this clip from on of my gigs last year. There's loads of space in this tune to let my fretless P growl, and I love it. I can't believe I came within a gnat's whisker of selling it! Who says you need rounds and a bridge pickup on a fretless? Not I... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvc1vcFGGY0
10.
Well after having seen the pics in this thread I've had a good look at the back of my American Standard P Bass and I realized, (and want to show you all) that if I was to go by the judgement of that luthier in Exeter that my bass should be chopped and scrapped. Oh yeah, look at the grain, the nots and the imperfections all over the neck from the heel to the headstock, back and front. Jesus if that guy saw this neck he would think it was f*****d!
My GOD that is saucy!
11. Is it at Butlins? In the big rooms?
12.
It's the bass player's bass from Alien Ant Farm, only my favourite band when I was 11 or 12! There is a story behind the building of this, I don't think it was made by Fender at all but ended up with the stamp on it. EDIT - apparently it's a custom shop, which makes me totally wrong!
It's definitely from the CS. There's a certificate with it, too...
13.
Hmm. It's a market, and I am paying for its use. But ok.
Can you imagine going to a market with no rules? It would be chaos.
14. I mean... Yaaaaaaaaawn.
15.
There are various items for sale which when I try to view them, I get this: [#10340 You do not have permission to view this topic.] Is it now necessary to subscribe to view certain items, or is it a glitch, or what?
It's the new GAS control system. It kicks in when BC senses compulsive spending urges.
16. Hello powers-that-be! Just wondering if there's any sign of a resolution for the issue raised in the OP?
17. It was just a little joke. He'd better do Blood on the Rooftops, or there'll be blood on the stalls.
18. I'm going to the City Hall later in the year. Like you say, it's a Genesis set so I hope he does 'Throwing It All Away'.
19.
Mods...I think that this is turning into a personal attack which everybody feels justified in participating in. Not what BC should be known for. Since TB have removed the thread, thus making reference to it impossible, maybe it's time to lock this one??
If every thread on BC that involved an attack on someone not present was closed... there wouldn't be many open threads.
20. Baz Warne is a lovely bloke, and single-handedly justifies Sunderland's existence.
