1. I don't understand
What's the problem? A record for the number of consecutive weeks in the albums chart is based on... the number of consecutive weeks an album is in the chart. It's not like it's a value judgement on the merits of those recordings.
This. Not sure what the OP's point is.
 2.
Soul and gospel maybe but jazz I'm not hearing to be honest. Who is the singer and where is he from?
The Jazz influence comes from a lot of the material we do, not necessarily how it's played (wrong notes don't count). There's a lot of trad jazz / New Orleans tunes in there, and the whole genre developed from the 50s jazz scene. The singer is Peter Donegan, son of Lonnie.
 3. There's country in there for sure, but also rock and jazz. And soul and gospel, for that matter. The proportions of each have massive influence on the final sound, though. Little Feat are another example, I'd say.
 4.
My problem is what is a Blues, rock, jazz, folk band.
A few of my bands fall into that range of genres, kind-of. Here's one of them. 5. I've been playing it a lot recently, and it's making me think about selling my Jazz instead. Which would be ridiculous - so someone needs to buy it, quick. Here's someone else on an RBIV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfEXBpz620U
 6.
I thought I was alone in not liking the Midget. I wish Alex made a 112 with a fat, quality full range tone that would challenge Berg and Aguilar 112's.
Yes. Me too...
 7. Mrs. WoT & I are in quite a lot of bands together, and go on little tours pretty often. We treat them as a break away from the kids. Unless there's something she hasn't told me yet, I don't see any break-ups on the horizon...
 8. I iz bein a bit fikk... Are you asking for examples of music that include all those genres?
 9. There was an article about the show in the paper today...
 10. Ah - that'll be why whenever I'm venture south of Watford Gap people stop me in the street and ask me where the crazy golf is.
 11.
Has anyone noticed that the compares all have exactly the same, northern voice, no matter where they come from?
What does a northern voice sound like?
 12. The vintage I've used in the past has the nicest mids and top-end of any cab I've every owned. Presumably the S15 continues that...
 13.
Never been a big fan of The Police, but Stewart Copeland is an absolute genius.
He's a genius that speeds up. He would drive me MENTLE.
 14.
Having read peoples responses to this it looks like I got this wrong, so apologies to both Sting, and (completely separately) "The Police", and to anyone I may have upset here.
Sting's mum should be included in this, I reckon.
 15.
What pisses me off is that they were "The Police" and then it became "Sting and the Police"
No it didn't...
 16. Here's an 11-minute clip that'll give you a good idea of the versatility of these basses... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msMB0qXZUmA
 17.
Are the Jazz anodized plates bevelled? The '57 P-bass ones aren't.
You're right, of course. I'm a dafty.
 18.
Am I going mad or would a anodized Jazz R/H plate turned over fit a leftie? Apart from the countersunks
The edge bevel would be wrong...
 19.
Have you tried the aguilar db750? Loads of weight behind each note! Loved mine was gutted i had to sell. All valve amp my fav is the orange ad200, and you could probs pic up 2 second hand for the price of the mesa. Andy
I'm not sure the DB750 falls into the OP's 'lightweight' category...
 20.
The punters have paid to hear your songs played live, if you screw them up then it's courteous to unscrew them and give the punters what they paid for. To plough on regardless is an insult to your paying punters.
Yip - especially if someone is painfully out of tune.
 21. One thing I've never understood is ploughing on when one of the band has an obvious tuning issue. If you're only a few bars in - stop the band, tune up and start again. No damage done.
 22. Oh, at the gig? Press on, unless its a total car-crash.
 23. If it's something that happens at the same point every time, rewind and get it right. If someone's just done a flub, crack on.
 24.
Nice. Pardon my ignorance but what bass is that and what do the controls all do?
Yip... it's a Roscoe Beck. Quick run-down of the controls: Passive volume, passive tone (pull up to emphasise bridge pickup). Switches select series / parallel / single coil for each pickup.
 25. Hi all I recently took some pics of one of my basses and I realise they do a very good job of showing off its custom pickguard, made by BC's very own The Bass Doc. As I'm forever recommending him to people on BC, I thought I may as well start a thread I can point them to. Anyway... this particular guard is especially notable for two reasons: It's a pretty complicated non-standard shape, with lots of cut-outs; and the tortoiseshell material used is much, much nicer than the 'pepperoni' style of most tort plates I've seen. And, to top it all off, his prices are very, very reasonable. Drop him a PM before you buy something off-the-shelf...
