1. How much??? Jaysus - they're not even Custom Shop. It even has the American Deluxe sticker on the pickguard..!
 2. I seem to recall these weren't 'proper' Fender signature editions. They were put together by a third party (SIMMS, possibly?) I
 3.
Lots of great bassist being listed here (Mingus definitely gets my vote). Here's a curveball that the vast majority of you will hate with a passion… Tom Jenkinson (aka Squarepusher) and 'The Modern Bass Guitar'. It blows my head that this track is played using a bass, albeit with a shedload of MIDI mojo going on. It's lightyears away from what most people consider to be 'musicianship', but for me, this guy is a modern-day gunslinger for sure.
Isn't this the noise Manic Miner makes whilst loading?
 4.
I've said it before , but I'll say it again , this is a U.S.A Fender that will be highly collectable in future years - they were great sounding and very well - designed basses and relatively few were ever made or sold . In ten ot twenty years these will be selling for big money , and whoever owns it will have a fantastic and versatile bass to play in the meantime .
Cheers, Dingus. I'm of the same opinion. There's hardware on here you won't find on any other bass.
 5. Bump! Again, I've had a bit of trade interest but generally only interested in a straight sale.
 6. Yaaaaaaawn.
 7.
For penance you have to listen to this all the way through.
I didn't realise the SECC had a retractable roof.
 8. If you go for flats, as Conan mentioned earlier the Laklands are beautiful things. And VERY cheap at 20 quid.
 9. The greatest Charva (as we call them) there ever was. It's funny 'cos it's true. BEWARE - VERY VERY SWEARY! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xwsrxr_buzzcock-s-lessons-in-life-3_fun#.UT-q6cGCgT8
 10. FWIW, I have no problem with either BRX's posts or basses that aren't Fender. Just sayin'.
 11.
Think a lot of it is down to what you are used to. I would imagine that for a large number people here, their first bass was something that was based on either a Fender P or J. They got used to that design of bass.
You might have a point, but just for the record, mine was a pointy-headstocked Gibson Epiphone thingy, followed by a Hohner Jack headless, followed by an Overwater Progress, followed by a Stingray / Sterling custom build. It was years before I knocked on Fender's door...
 12.
Au contraire! I'm reading some interesting replies, in amongst the guy who started the thread trying to bring "hate" into it.
Oh, for crying out loud....
 13.
You're the one that implied that someone on this thread "hated" Fender bases, which implies extreme feelings. Why you couldn't use "dislike" or a simple "not like" makes me think it would have ended up kicking off - again.
Settle doon, man. It's just internets lingo. The only person that's kicked off is you.
 14. That has happened to a few musician friends of mine over the years. They just... walk away. And usually they come back months / years down the line. Who knows - maybe I'll just wake up one morning and think... 'bugger it'. But as it stands I literally can't comprehend it. It's such an alien concept.
 15.
There should be rules against posting rubbish like that.
A very measured response. Well done.
 16.
The problem is that once a question, that introduces an inflammatory aspect to it, is answered - then it does become part of the discussion.
You think it's inflammatory... I strongly dispute that.
 17.
You are wrong. There are plenty Fender owners who wouldn't spit on a Gibson if it was on fire and are quite vocal when it comes to voicing that opinion. There's even a Gibson headstock joke in this thread, and the thread isn't even about Gibsons. Don't talk to me about people looking down their noses, you don't know you're born.
OK - ta for that. It's not something I've seen much of, as I don't generally get involved.
 18. I think the angle of my question is relevant given the context of this thread. I also think that Fender users are generally just happy where they are, and don't feel compelled to look down their noses at boutique fans (for example). Most of the comments seem to come the other way, this thread being a good example. Or am I wrong..? As for tone, it's subjective. No-one's ever going to win that one.
 19. Nah - I'll stick with haters. But thanks for the feedback.
 20.
Has anyone anywhere, apart from here, used the word "hate"? One thing that is repeatedly frustrating about this forum is users who introduce a loaded word into a thread as though it's already been used & then the discussion goes off on that tangent based on a false assumption. (see under "Beatles" thread)
You know what I mean... One thing that is repeatedly frustrating about this forum is people who take things too literally...
 21. I'm a little in the dark with this, still. Would a Fender hater care to chip in and let me know in what ways my performance (musical, that is) would be improved if I were to play another brand? Thank you.
 22.
^this. It's not a knot. And if the OP's "knot" had moved enough to distort a fret or cause a buzz it would have shown itself in the join between the f'board & the neck.
So... have we established that it's knot a not, and therefore it's knot going to have any effect on the neck. And, if it is a not, it would. Or have we knot?
 23. Careful with these - quite a few of them have a dead spot around 7".
 24.
From way back in the day (90's?) when I bought a MIM "Contemorary" Telecaster I was under the impression that MIM were US parts shipped to Mexico for the lower worker's pay rates to make a cheaper guitar but otherwise identical, so any noticeable difference is in the hands of who put it together, though as was once pointed out there's more Mexicans working at the US plant than there is Americans so it's a mute point. Was I mis-informed, or is this not now - or never was - the case?
No - generally speaking, the parts are sourced differently.
