3. Cheers, folks!
But which bass?
Well, that's just it. P, Roscoe Beck or J? In my mind I can argue a decent case for each of 'em. I'll probably toss a coin.

Hello! Uploading pics is broken. Have a look at this thread. Looking forward to the photos...
  5. I can't bear that sort of nonsense. Just sing the bloody song, man.
  6.
Hello chaps, interesting thread! I'm doing a theatre tour next month with the Kate Bush tribute and it's gonna be no amps on stage, with in ear monitoring only. so I'm gonna be looking at getting something like this. Not sure which one though... Gonna be running two passive basses, both fretted and fretless (with some chorus on the fretless stuff, via my old Boss chorus pedal) - I know some of these have a facility for two inputs. Any recommendations anyone?
I hated the SansAmp with my fretless. As soon as you increase the blend... *bam*.. your mids are gone, which as you know is fatal for fretless. I used three of them over about 18 months (SansAmp, programmable and Para Driver) and I had the same problem with each. I used to use a P, a fretless P and a J, and when I kicked in the SansAmp I swear I couldn't tell the difference between them on-stage. It sucked all the character out of them. i switched the the EBS Microbass II, and... instant win. All the good stuff you get with the SansAmp, but without the baked-in SansAmp tone. And lots of other good features. Expensive, though.
  7.
is made infinitely easier if, beforehand, you rub your pinky down the side of your nose to pick up some nice greasy lubrication
...assuming you have a greasy nose, of course.
  8.
Will you be using your own backline or will it be provided?
I'm using my own, so... Walkabout and probably a single HS210.
  9. Thread resurrection for anyone who's interested... I've just got back from a the first band meeting (no MK - he won't get involved until the day of the gig). I know most of folks in the band already, but we have lovely lady backing vocalists and a guitarist (who tours with the Arctic Monkeys) who I've never met before. Very pleasant they are, too. We ran through the running order of the show, which is a logistical spaghetti junction - I'm glad I don't have to concern myself with any of that. There's some other special guests on the show now too - musical and otherwise - but I'm sworn to secrecy. I get to play a wide range of stuff, and on some of the songs we're accompanied by an orchestra, which is a first for me. We're having three days of rehearsals before the gig. They'll be long days, but I can't wait...
  10. It's Fender so never say never, but... I seriously doubt it. Quick way to check - are the side dots on the note / fretline or inbetween? If it's the latter you know it's definitely a replacement board.
  11. Yeah - Pete Barton. He's a bit of an agent / manager as well. Puts lots of gigs on.
  12. Ah, one more bump 'cos I found this interesting link about how the RB came to be, and a bit more about what it does. http://www.roscoebeck.com/profile.htm
  13.
I've just emailed a centre in Sheffield that deals with their UK based repairs and the TC Support team. I'm pretty mad about this, why can't stuff just work the first time.....
Throughout history, stuff has broken. I say good on TC for taking it on the chin and being open about it.
  14.
Maybe it's some actual intellectual artistic irony? In the same vein a [s]Matisse's[/s] Magritte's
Fixed it for you.
  15.
Also, it is not 640W. It is 400W RMS (640W Peak), and that raises some suspicion from me tbh. Why would they quote the peak wattage?
It's typically shoddy Ashdown marketing.
  16.
See what you mean, but maybe if you're going in to blues for the first time there's something to be said for getting a feel for the full range of the tradition before diving in?
Given the timescales, if the OP just wants to be able to pick up the basics to get through the audition, I was thinking the more specific the better. The bigger picture can follow....
  17. Yip - for this thread to be any use to the OP, we need something a bit more specific re: flavour of Blues...
  18.
You're part of the problem, WOT, that Roscoe is almost irresistable!
Hmmm? Oh, you mean this one? Sorry
  19. Ashdown. LOL. Why can't they just come up with a good-looking amp that wins on all fronts, market it properly and stick with it for a while?
  20.
"True watts" is nonsense. I don't care how loud an amp is on paper, I care how loud it is on a gig, so Warwick are not going to sell me an amp by dissing other manufacturers.
I dunno - I kind-of see his point. If this amp does what it does without using clever power management - which some people don't get on with - then it's a fair comment to make.
  21. As I've mentioned elsewhere, they feel similar to the La Bella's, with a bit more going on in the mids. Not zingy like Chromes - it's definitely a mids thing.
  22.
Also - are the Lakland ones as good?
Yes.
  23. ...I forgot to mention that 'Burst'n'Blocks Overwater J too, which I know won't be my cup of tea sonically, but MY GOD IT'S A STUNNER.
