1. Bump for tomorrow! If you're coming along, being a mains extension if you can. We've got the room from 10:30.
 2. People can sell (try to) stuff for whatever price they like. If they sell something on for more than they paid a few days ago, then... it's a bit cheeky, but c'est a vie.
 3. Something else to mention - The Bass Doc and I have had a blummin' good look at it, and neither of us can see a join anywhere in the body. It's either an astonishingly good match, or a one-piece body (which would be virtually unheard of).
 4.
I think one of the main factors rounds became more popular is that they're @ 1/2 the price of flatwounds. If they were both about the same, then I think you'd see a lot more flatwound players (when was the last time you tried a bass in a shop that came with flats?).
Lakland flats. Twenty quid. As good as you'll get....
 5.
Is it so bad having to speak to people?
No - it's great. But when all you need is a 'yes' or 'no' from six or seven people, and you have a life to get on with, a group text message wins every time.
 6. IME some people are just not good at it, and it drives me mental. They're never in a hurry to respond to texts (if at all) because they're completely unaware of what's involved in trying to organise a band's schedule. It's quite selfish.

 8. For me, it's always been Mark Knopfler. So.... roll on February 18th.
 9.
Easy answer - the Bass Doc.
..is the right answer! Great plates, lovely tort material, very very reasonably priced. If you want to get in touch with him, PM me 'cos his internets is broken at the moment.
 10.
I'm a first time NE bass basher & a bit nervous.......I did say i would bring my gear along to this, however I'm panicking as It's a bit sh*t compared to everyone elses, what to do?! Bring it for a laugh?
Don't be daft - bring it along!
 11. I'm pretty much there with the tone I have in my head. The big challenge now is getting FOH guys to share the vision. In general, they use bass to rearrange people's insides rather than let punters hear the notes.
 12.
I'm puzzled by the screw holes in front of the Bridge.
Mutes, innit.
 13. Nah - it's a known issue, and was logged a while ago. Chrome or Firefox is your friend....
 14. I'm confused. This is advertised twice, by two slightly different usernames...?
 15. We live in a world where the amount of views, likes or friends you have is hugely overrated.
 16. This thread should really have been pre-announced a couple of days ago.
 17. Been meaning to post these....
 18. Apparently... A single coil Precision, Thunderbird or a Ric, plugged into a 150w Kustom Kasino through a 2x15. Turned up VERY loud, I imagine...

 20. Cheers, folks!
But which bass?
Well, that's just it. P, Roscoe Beck or J? In my mind I can argue a decent case for each of 'em. I'll probably toss a coin.

 22. I can't bear that sort of nonsense. Just sing the bloody song, man.
 23.
Hello chaps, interesting thread! I'm doing a theatre tour next month with the Kate Bush tribute and it's gonna be no amps on stage, with in ear monitoring only. so I'm gonna be looking at getting something like this. Not sure which one though... Gonna be running two passive basses, both fretted and fretless (with some chorus on the fretless stuff, via my old Boss chorus pedal) - I know some of these have a facility for two inputs. Any recommendations anyone?
I hated the SansAmp with my fretless. As soon as you increase the blend... *bam*.. your mids are gone, which as you know is fatal for fretless. I used three of them over about 18 months (SansAmp, programmable and Para Driver) and I had the same problem with each. I used to use a P, a fretless P and a J, and when I kicked in the SansAmp I swear I couldn't tell the difference between them on-stage. It sucked all the character out of them. i switched the the EBS Microbass II, and... instant win. All the good stuff you get with the SansAmp, but without the baked-in SansAmp tone. And lots of other good features. Expensive, though.
 24.
is made infinitely easier if, beforehand, you rub your pinky down the side of your nose to pick up some nice greasy lubrication
...assuming you have a greasy nose, of course.
 25.
Will you be using your own backline or will it be provided?
I'm using my own, so... Walkabout and probably a single HS210.
