1. I am (I hope) a better player than I was five years ago (or even longer, if you include Bassworld). I'm doing better gigs, too. That said, Basschat's sole contribution, apart from making BC friends, has been to reduce my bank balance. It hasn't inspired me to learn to read, explore Jazz or build a bass out of milk bottle tops. I do love the 'ol place, though.
  2. Ah, me too. We'll sort another for later in the year...
Who are you ?
Right - that's it. I'm leaving! ...unless loads of folk reply to say 'Aww... don't. We'll miss you.'

Basschat wouldn't be Basschat without people leaving in a hissy fit on a semi-regular basis for dramatic effect I think it's about time I did, but no bugger would miss me. *waits in vain for sympathy*
  5.
I like it.
Thank goodness - at least Fender now have the option of giving them away...
  6.
I'm going to put this up for sale now in the Basses for Sale section of the site. I'm open to sensible offers on it.
Just an FYI - you'll need to name a price. Forum rules and all that.
  7.
Also, may be worth contacting Bootzy, as he has one; http://basschat.co.u...s/page__st__540
That's a 2001.
  8. I can't help thinking it's a bit butterscotch for a 2001, which are a bit blonder. Plus the knobs are different.
  9. ..it reminds me of this, even though it isn't: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-G-GHTFoX4
  10. Cheers for the pics, Rob - it's a beauty...
  11. Fender never try anything new, do they? They just stick to the same tried-and-tested designs over and over again, yadda yadda yadda. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. By the way, I think it's truly wretched. It makes me want to sick up a little bit.
  12. But yes - apologies to everyone who can't make it through lack of notice. It's such an informal thing (no special guests, etc.) there didn't seem to be much point giving loads of notice. It's taken on-board for the next time. As is checking for other bashes.
  13. Can you post pics here? I'd like to see it.
  14.
Yes - but I guess it's also because the bash is only three weeks away, and clashes with another one. I imagine it'd have been easier for some of us to attend if we'd had more time to organise our schedules. But hopefully there's always the next one.
We're impulsive up here, you know?
  15.
I don't have any contact or work with him
Yip - if you did, you'd know he probably hasn't got a clue what an external drive or USB stick is.
  16.
Unfortunately, you'll also be missing us southern bunch on that date, I'm afraid.
That's a shame.. maybe next time. Getting a date that's going to suit everyone is literally impossible. It's frustrating.
  17.
i've replied to the Facebook invite so i'll be there, it's a shame it clashes with Moffat, would changing the date be a huge issue? (although the next week wouldn't be great for me.) i'm happy to throw some coins in the pot for the room hire too. Matt
Unfortunately yes - the venue is booked, and the notifications have gone out. We honestly never thought to check for a clash with another Northern bass bash. I mean, what's the chances...?
  18.
In this day & age you can't be just a "face-to-face/phone" operator, nice thought, but if you offer an online facility you have to be able to back it up - or - no matter how undeserved they are - suffer the consequences.
Most of his jobs come in locally, via word-of-mouth. Old school!

  20.
Is he actually alright ? I mean I am quite sure he has pals with the interweb, who would gladly let him use it at the drop of a hat. Or an internet café or a wifi point nearby. Being as he's supposedly such a nice chap, and conscientious worker . It does not seem like him to fall behind with orders and not keep in touch with customers. Maybe there is some darker reason that he has fallen behind with orders and kept away from the forum. Neither of which are like his usual self (from what I can tell from this forum anyway. I am not claiming to know the guy) So many people seem to have more than a good word for him. This is obviously from a long earned reputation for doing good work and just being a decent bloke. If he wants to keep it private fair enough. However, I'm starting to get a bit concerned myself and I don't even know the guy. So I am sure there must be people on here who know him in real life, who must be worried.
He's fine - I was there a few days ago, and he was grafting away. I honestly think part of it is this; he's a face-to-face / telephone guy. Chatting via computer is probably in a distant 3rd place.
  21.
Who is Tim, and why is he a wasted on this thread?
If you have to ask, it's because you don't know. *taps nose*
  22.
Was it wise to make it the same day as the Moffat bash? I do entertain ideas of attending other bashes and this one is probably the second nearest one to Aberdeen, but it's no much use if they're going to clash. I'm good, but I'm not two places at once good
Ah, flip... I didn't spot that. Hopefully there won't be much overlap - it's a two-hour drive between us.
  23. Hi all Warwickhunt & I thought it was about time, so.... It's at The Ginger Music Company, the same location as the last one a couple of years ago. it's not far from the centre of Newcastle (on the Gateshead side) and the south end of the Tyne Tunnel. Here's a map. There's a vending machine for tea, coffee and snacks. Here's a Facebook event, If you're coming along, please join the event or reply to this thread to give us an idea of numbers. Thanks!
  24.
Please go out and try one for yourself. *snip* I promise you won't be disappointed.
That's just the problem. Plenty of people HAVE tried them and been disappointed. Welcome aboard, by the way...
