1. Absolutely. That's what I was getting at earlier.. just ring him. He won't bite.
2.
This one might be for sale
3.
Was it a Custom Shop limited edition - do you know any more about it? 2001 seems a bit late...I'm trying to recall the date I got it but this bass 'feels' older if you know what I mean...
Yep - it's a CS limited edition. I lusted after one for years. Also available in Sunburst apparently, but I've never seen one.
4.
that's the one
2001 limited edition. Happy to help...
5.
I've since found out that a number of special edition Tele's were released between 1982 and 1988 that had the 4 digit number stamped on the bridge plate so I'm wondering if it was part of these - although a bass but it has been known as the Tele bass based on the 52 P with the Tele headstock...this dating would suit the bass.
I can't think of a bass meeting this description that was built between 1982 and 1988. Does yours have a P and a J pickup?
6. Fender will be able to help. Email the Custom Shop. We want pics!
7.
Excellent idea WoT - and I'll come back here and make a crass and inappropriate remark about that reply.
Expression of shock / hurt / amusement / sarcasm / agreement* *I will delete as appropriate when the context is available
8. Jimryan - I'm posting this as a placeholder. When you remember what your post was going to be, and you update your OP, I'll come back and edit this with a proper reply.
9. Here's a detailed diagram of my setup: fingers > bass > amp > cab
10. I think it's more of a wake-up call to shops to start setting basses up so they're vaguely playable before hanging them out on the wall. That way, if a bass is a dog, it's because it's a dog. Send it back. The internet is killing you all. Put some effort into it.
11.
Yes. I notice this particularly on the last few Rush albums. i find them almost unlistenable at times.
Ah, tell me about it. Everyone going on about how Clockwork Angels is a return to sonic form. No it isn't! Listen to it! It's terrible! *hyperventilates*
12. Haven't read the thread, but I'd just like to say that it's the mastering that's boils my p*ss. It's all mastered for tin-pot car speakers or earphones bought from a market stall. It's like listening to wallpaper.
13. OMG. How hot is this?
14. Nope.
15. Direct from Lakland. Works out about 21 quid shipped - they arrive in a week or so..
16. A lot of people get into fretless for the Pino / Jaco thing. Not me (although it is very nice). I just love the sound a fretless Precision makes. Uprighty, growly, with sustain... yum.
17. If I had a grand - and a few more quid for a refin - knocking about, and the chance to inspect it on collection, I would have loved that for a project.
18. Nowt wrong with the BBOT.
19. 80s US Fender with a few tweaks. Nowt to be suspicious about.
20. Hi John! Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. :-) Lots of trade interest so far, but nothing ringing my bell...
21. Unvelievable. *shakes fist at Ibanez*
22.
I pretty much stuck to the both p/ups on, in series sound as favoured by the man himself, marvellous. Hard to believe this hasn't been snapped up yet. Maybe fate is trying to tell you something WOT
Yep - it's a glorious noise! If it doesn't sell, I'm just try and cope with the guilt of having more basses than I need, and just enjoy gazing at it and gigging it.
23.
Another thing, which I might not have experienced as I was usually using practice room cabs, (quite large ones) is that the power of the Streamliner was causing your cabs to start to compress as they couldn't take the full whack, which is totally understandable for any 2x10.
It's not an issue with the cabs. I think it's more a power management thing - the architecture just doesn't ring my bell. Bear in mind I had about 100 gigs over a period of a year to refine it and 'get used' to it, and a similar amount with the wretched (IMO) TC. The Streamliner was marginally more successful. It's a matter of taste, innit.
