1.
'Scooped' is not a word I'd use to describe my Streamliner. Maybe using it through the BF cabs makes the difference.
The HS210s I run are very even across the middle, and I could hear it. That said, I liked it far more than the other lightweights I've used.
 2.
Is that five transactions of a single set each time, or one transaction of five sets? I think sometimes you are more likely to get charged if the package is more bulky.... what are the postage charges like Michael and do you buy them direct from Lakland themselves?
Five separate sets... about £21 a pop, inc. postage.
 3. I
Assuming you don't get hit for inport duties/customs charges etc...
I've bought five sets so far - not a peep on any of 'em...
 4. Hi all A few of you might have heard me extolling the virtues of Lakland flatwound strings over the last year or so. I've switched all my basses to them from the La Bellas, which we know are great strings. The Laklands are easily up there with them, and a bit more going on in the mids - with the added benefit that they're far cheaper than the La Bellas when you order them direct from Lakland in the US. Anyway, on Christmas Eve I strung up my P, and I noticed the 'A' was a bit dull compared to the rest of the set. I emailed them to explain, and on the 27th, I got an apologetic email from a chap called Brian. A replacement 'A' string arrived from Chicago this morning. I've stuck it on the bass, and it's perfect. So there you go - not only are they great strings, but they'll look after you if something ain't right.
 5.
I'd never heard of the guy until today. Is he famous for making the worlds best elevator music?
Define 'best'....
 6.
I found it via a YouTube clip on Google. Sorry I haven't uploaded it - I don't want to be held responsible for any side effects you might experience.
He's right, you know - it nearly made me vomit.
 7. Post some pics and we'll have a go at verifying it for you. What colour is the pickguard? Does it have a thumbrest / holes? if so, where? What's the wiring like? Any codes on the pots? Anything written / stamped under the pickups? On the heel of the neck? In the neck pocket in the body? What do the tuners look like? Is the truss rod adjustment at the headstock or the body? ,...etc.
 8. I couldn't get a sound I liked with the Streamliner. Too big down low, to unfocusedd in the mids.
 9.
Who am I to teach you?
Exactly.
 10. Hey! Nowt to do with me. I just wanted him to be aware that I was awesome.
 11.
And who are you to try to censure another point of view? You defend mediocrity in music just because you belong to that gang. There's no way around it, try to get better instead of blaming other people's opinions. Grow up.
I don't need to get better. I'm awesome.
 12. Seriously, man. He's. wind-up. Ignore him.

 14.
Are you shure about this or does envy and lack of humbleness come from the other side? I certainly have issues with this but it has to do with a strong sence of justice so stop talking about papers cause nobody cares except those who lack diplomas. The main point is that putting Anthony Jackson and John entwinstle in the same bag simply isn't fair. But this society makes you believe it is... For money's sake.
OMG - if Bilbo is Emperor Palpatine, we've just found his Dath Vader...!
 15. Rules? Teachers? Students? Jesus. If I hear something I like, then... cool. No point complicating things.
 16. Here's a little video what I made... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXoxhOYBv7c
 17. Of course it's OK to say someone is better or worse. But you have to be aware that that's only in your opinion and there's a million people out there who will disagree with you. Art is analogue, not digital.
 18.
Because then i would be able to sell my 5 string status knowing i could get a sound like that from a Precision. with flatwounds.
Oh. Thanks for sharing!
 19.
heaven help us.... if ever a band were all about attitude and image it were the 'pistols........ i thought we were talking music here.
Yip. Great tunes, though.
 20.
Id like to see a precision/jazz 4 with flatwounds sound that harmonically rich....
Why?
 21.
Here's a thought. Imagine if Leo Fender had put out the P bass looking like a 5 string BC Rich Black Widow back all those years ago. Would that shape now be the norm and the four, 'rounded body' be the supposed imposter?
Yes.
 22.
Almost paradoxically it tends to be the hobbyists who feel the strongest (either way) about this kind of thing, though why the 'pro-bashing' I'll never understand.
...because it's less of an issue on the session scene, where most of the non-hobbyists reside.
 23. Don't feed the troll, folks...
 24.
One of you is a musician while the other is an entertainer. Simple. Entertainers don't like the idea though so they think they are musicians...hence the confusion. A true musician doesn't approach music from an economical or an image-fixated standpoint. A musician cares about sound and creation, not how many chicks he'll have because he looked cool or the check he may get for moving his ass behind a fender. f*** the music industry.
Yeah! Stick it to the man! I bet you're a hoot at parties.
 25.
Of course. It doesn't mean I have to agree with the principle though. For my originals bands I use my Spectors (all 4 strings) because they suit the overall sound of the bands. It could be argued that they're a typical rock bass but image is not something which matters to me and I use them because to me they sound excellent and the company is a pleasure to deal with. To be honest if a bassist had to use a fender jag because that's what the rest of the bands were using Id probably feel sorry for him or her as their individuality is quashed. Isn't that why we all started playing? To have an outlet for our creativity. To that end playing bass x in an originals band because it fits the perceived cliche of what a band should look like is polar to individualism.
I've highlighted part of your post which I think explains everything.
