1.
Surprised and sorry to see this up for sale, beautiful bass that it is! Whoever buys it won't be disappointed I'm sure.. GLWTS!
Cheers, Nik. Here's an IV being played properly, by the man himself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHHBl8cz7eY
2.
I PM'd three Basschatters who I thought would be able to give me a steer on the right choice (WaterOfTyne, Beedster, Clarky) and all three came straight back with LaBella FLs.
FWIW, I'm now running Lakland flats on everything. The La Bellas are awesome, and the Lakkies are a different flavour of awesome (and far cheaper, which helps ).
3. Here's an idea of how they sound in my Jazz, with ancient flatwound strings and a cab with no tweeter. Punch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLrIsd2K8Hg
4. Google. Single account. Done.
5.
Hi Michael. How do these differ from the Antiquities Bud, I have a Jazzer sat at home feeling very sorry for itself at the moment,
Hey Pete! There's a bit more upper-mids (bark?) going on in the Fralins, and of course zero hum.
6.
Are these identical? I'd be up for one if they are. I'm thinking back pickup for a PJ too.
No - they're standard jazz, i.e. one longer than t'other.
7. I've had a few trade offers, but I really need the dosh. Thanks to everyone who's enquired.
8. Yip - I wanted one of these for years. It took me ages to find one. It's so versatile and well-built, but my J keeps looking at me with sad eyes whenever I post it up for sale. Forgot to mention - it comes with the original posh Fender case, and weight-wise the bass itself is on the medium side of medium. Not heavy at all.
9. It hurts to sell this. Rarer than hen's teeth - I doubt you'll find another sunburst in the UK. Custom shop quality. Info here. *withdrawn* including UK postage, complete with the factory fitted case, originally supplied bits (including a perspex ramp) and additional custom-made tort pickguard. This pic shows the only flaw in the bass which I've just noticed - a little bit of the plating is coming off one of the saddles. Purely cosmetic: Here's a clip of it with gruffy old flats on it. It SINGS with rounds.
10. I'm selling a matched set of Lindy Fralin split-Jazz pickups. Standard J-sized. Each pickup is contains two coils, so you'll be hum-free no matter what pickup balance you're using. £110 posted in the UK.
11. I agree - I just find one handle on the top to be a bit baffling.
12. I honestly think everyone's best bet is to give him a call, and speak to him in person.
13. I was at his yesterday. He seems very busy, but fine.
14.
do you use yours for the bigger gigs you do?
Sometimes, if I knew FOH and monitors were up to it. It was such an awkward lug, I sold it and stuck with the glorious WA head.
15.
He's relisted it at the same price and to be honest, if it wasn't for the Boogie 400+ and 1516EV sitting opposite me as I type, I'd be driving to Scotland now. I've not used the 15" version and as I understand it some guys don't rate it compared to the 12" whilst for others it's the opposite and the 15" is the dog's danglies. Bottom line is that at that price you can take the risk and sell it on after Xmas for at least what you paid now.
The main thing putting me off the 15 would be... The thought of carrying it. The 12 isn't particularly heavy, but it's bloody awkward. The 15 would probably bruise you the death :-)
16. Just bought something from Pete - posted in record time, brilliantly packed. Thanks so much!
17.
Oh Dear! I'd hope it was about the same price as a standard USA P.
At least with a standard USA P you'll know exactly what you've got...
18. Latterday Eagles bassman Timothy B. Schmit is recovering following treatment for neck & throat cancer. Great player, great singer and seemingly a very nice chap. Good luck to him.
19. You won't need the service guy - contact cleaner on a jack plug, shove it in and out of the send and return a few times... job done!
20. Wow... that's almost touchscreen!
Here's mine! Vigier Passion GK by chiscocks, on Flickr
21. Have a read through these... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/116361-how-low-is-a-good-low-action/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/57575-the-how-high-is-your-action-thread-get-involved/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176357-how-high-is-your-action/
22. Oh, the strap button has also been moved and it looks like you could store your amp in the neck pocket. Did you keep the receipt? :-)
23. I don't think the pickguard is original, either. That description is terrible.
24. It's. shame flats are synonymous with the word 'thud'. They do so much more.
25. It drives me nuts. It seems to be standard practice to murder the lows with bowel-rearranging subs. Whenever I work with a PA company who keep the bottom end clean, it's revelation.
