1. I have no idea who he is. Then again, I've never heard that Gingham Style song either. I'm quite good at avoiding popular culture. It's good for my stress levels.
2. The EBS Microbass II is marvellous. it does everything the SansAmps do, and more.. without murdering your mids. They cost a few quid, though.
3.
the natural response of both the para-driver and the bass-driver is mid scooped, quiet a bit. To counter this on the bass-driver is to blend in the clean, but personally it's never the same as actually adding mids. The para-driver has a stand alone mid cut/boost and frequency select so it's easier to add mids in, plus it's more usuable for other instruments, inherently they are pretty much the same, but I would try a bass-driver before you count it out. I just prefer the para-driver but I ended up moving it on as it wasn't for me.
This. They both knack your mids to different degrees.
4. I would love to do this, but the thought of gigging outside of London scares me.
5. Lovely!
6.
This is not my thread, so please PM me for a response, as I have no intention of hijacking someone's sale thread of a very fine bass. In your PM, please give some introduction about your experience of vintage Fenders, as there's little mystery about these marks. Having said that, there are some oddities within Fender, particularly the pre-CBS era, where myth and legend do occur, and some acceptance that no-one will ever know, must prevail. Thanks, Rick.
My understanding of the ES mark is that there are a lot of theories about its purpose, but no proof. I'd be interested in your source as well, Rick. Have another bump, OP. Gorgeous bass.
7. FWIW, I've had nothing spam-flavoured sent to my Basschat-specific email address.
8. Does it have an FX bypass switch? If so, bypass it. If not, shove jacks in and out of the FX send and return. It's a known problem with Walkabouts that they can oxidise and short out the signal path. That sorts it.
9. Hey Moonbass! Did you install the JVX's in the end? What did you think?
10. If you 'get' the music it would be a blast. I'd do it.
11. I really like that. I'm about 100 miles too far north, otherwise... Good luck with it!
12. Cheers, Ped. Sometimes you just have to give things a go....
13.
IMO, the JV's are better...in all categories, and more accurate necks/bodies.
Woah - really? Do you know where I might find one for sale? I must have one!
14.
Too expensive ... I would pay GBP 950. Based on 2/3 of the new price today. And provided it comes in mint condition. I don't give a s*** this was produced in the 80's. It's just a funny looking bass. I can live with that, but I would't pay a premium for it.
15. It's a Fullerton RI. Fender were at the top of their game around this time, and that's why they command good money. Yep, the price is on the high side but if someone wants one, they'll pay it.
16. Yip - I never quite understood the need to make an ad 'disappear'....
17.
.
There's a thing - restrict off-topic to contributing members. Read-only for everyone else.
18. That's what I was thinking - even just a simple 'What do you think about...' thread.
19. Was there any research done with the user base?
20. Pop your feedback on the thread posted above - try and keep it all together.
21. Generally stage left. In one of my bands, the drummer sets up stage left, facing across the stage. It's fab.
22. If you're a fan it's worth getting, as is Beyond The Lighted Stage.
23. He's been around forever, so he's clearly found a model that works for him. Personally, I think these multi-band showcases are a hiding to nothing anyway. One of the original bands I'm in did a couple with him, and we realised pretty quickly there was no point.
24. Neck looks like an original defret. It might be a good project, assuming it goes for a sensible amount.
25.
As an event, I can see that it would have been fantastic. But why buy the DVD? Ok, for nostalgia if you were there. But otherwise? I can't really see the point myself, but then I'm not a big Zep fan.
You've answered your own question.
