1.
I'm using Chrome for Basschat but it doesn't work with Facebook or a whole load of other sites
....?
  2. I've just listened to Supper's Ready in DTS 5.1. REALLY FLIPPING LOUD. It was awesome. I just had to share. Thanks for your time.
  3.
Is the Reggie classed as a Custom Shop? I thought it was an 'Artist' series but wasn't sure if it carried the CS logo as well?
The RH 5-string is CS.
  4. 'Burst, tort & rosewood P with blocks, thick-baseplate bridge, graphite rods and a TV logo. Lightly relic'd.
I quite often plug my Mac into the aux and use headphones to practice and as far as my ears can tell the quality is pretty darned good! Eude
Yip - it's fine. It makes for a great PA for playing an iPod through at garden parties, too...
OK - I've just re-tried both of my power leads, ensuring that they were well-and-truly pushed home into the power socket. Same result for both - crackle, volume coming and going, then silence. I've just emailed Thomann. Thing is, I'm now wondering whether I want another one, or something else. Steve
Oh, man - how frustrating. Ibanez missed a trick with these. If they'd sorted the QC out, they could have had a legendary bit of kit in their catalogue. When you get a good'un, they're THAT good.

Oh, FFS - what a nightmare. This might sound partronising, but bear with me. Does the mains lead sit tightly in the socket? I mean solid-as-a-rock? No wobble at all? If not, shove it in really hard (baby!) until it locks. They're a Really snug fit.
  8. Bloody love 'em... best strings ever! I'm stockpiling. ha ha. To recap... they feel like the 760FLs - maybe slightly more substantial, but no more tense - but they definitely have more going on in the mids. No zing - just clarity. They're just lovely to play. Very responsive, and they growl lovely when you want 'em to... 9. Cheers, all. Unfortunately the gig sold out in about an hour. I probably won't get any comps :-(
  10.
IME a friendly chat with the person who has posted the videos explaining your PoV can often get the desired result.
Someone put a clip up of a song from one of our gigs recently. Unfortunately one of the band had a massive mind-blank and played the biggest clunker imaginable right at the start. I mailed the poster via YouTube asking them to crop the first ten seconds, and they obliged. Just as well 'cos it was a proper horror. ha ha.
  11. I'd agree with the sax player. Some of the clips I've seen put up by the bands themselves have been appalling. I always carefully vet the stuff I put up. Having said that, there's nothing you can do to control it... it's the world we live in.
  12.
That's pretty cool, well done. Will you have a barefaced setup by then...!!!???
Here's hoping... :-)
  13.
Cool, but dont wish your life away.
Oh, I won't - next year is shaping up nicely. This is the cherry on the top at the moment...
  14. June update - here's the video! If anyone wants to post it anywhere, please do, but can I ask that you post this link instead:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1Ys3SBl17g
This is the one the PR people want us to use. Thank you! --------------------------------------------------------------- Back to my OP.... I've just had a phone call to ask if I can play bass at an event next year, backing a few celebs, including... Mark Knopfler! I'm trying to be cool, but the guy is my hero, so... **** it.
  15. Hard to date 'em around this time, because they were starting to be built with pretty much whatever was left in the parts bin - I don't mean that in a derogatory kind-of way. As a result, there's some interesting hybrids out there - dots and a bound neck being one.
  16.
Oh for goodness sake folks - this is hardly rocket science. A small piece of effort here would go a long way to making things easier for a lot of us. Thread now almost 2 years old. A simple "yes we will do this in by dd/mmm/yyyy" or "no we can't do this because of technical reason xyz" is all the courtesy we ask for. CB
The site is optimised for mobile, and most browsing, posting, searching and messaging works fine. if you need to do something advanced, switch to desktop. I doubt the people who run this FREE resource are going to waste money reinventing the wheel.
  17. If you have the time and the inclination to learn to read, go for it. No harm in it. Despite what you may hear, you won't be condemned to a life playing Sex On Fire at the Dog'n'Duck without it. That said, if you want to do reading gigs, the answer is obvious.
  18.
That's really really good. I was a big fan of Lindisfarne when Meet Me On The Corner came out and for several years afterwards. The young man on guitar and vocals is doing a great job. Hope that you'll be coming darn sarf one day.
Cheers, Pete! I think we'll be doing more next year...
  19.
No, you're just too small. Actually, I know what you mean. It is, as you correctly say, very light. But somehow the positioning of the handles makes it an awkward lift. I actually find it easiest to carry it with one hand - but obviously that is only feasible over relatively short distances. Stairs are a real PITA... Pleased you like the sound though! All the frustration about size and shape disappears once it's plugged in and ready to go! And, not that you need it with your current outfits, but the volume it is capable of is just insane...
Ha! By 'too big' I mean it would take up too much room in the band van, and my music room. I don't mean it's too big for what it is, IYKWIM. It really does make a glorious sound - I'm thinking about the Super Twelve which might be a decent compromise. We'll see.
  20.
I'd have just turned the tweeters off.
First thing I tried, innit. That's what I've been doing. It's not the same, though - the tweeters are integral to the sound of the Bergs IME.
  21. Talkbass is huge, so in some ways the worse aspects seem a lot worse. Also, there are plenty of people on BC who are keen to dole out opinions on gear based on what they've read on Talkbass, or what someone down the pub told them. What I'm trying to say is that there are people on TB and the FDP, who are very, very knowledgeable about Fender through the years. You just have to ignore the guessers.
  22.
I don't use Talkbass very often, full of 'experts', who actually know very little. This is true, I actually had an exchange with someone once on there, who said my '56 Precision was clearly a Telecaster bass with a changed serial number plate, because it had the single coil pickup, and not the split coil.......really. It is quite bad on there!
To be fair, Rick - that happens on every forum. It's not unique to TB.
