1. Cripes - just noticed the price. If it's reliable, it's a bargain...
 2. The new design is cool... I don't see the point in the spec tweaks, though FWIW the lack of a mute doesn't bother me as I always use mute-able jacks. The EQ is handy for scooping a bit of boxiness out during solo noodling. Still, it's a strange update.. (Also, the DI isn't a new addition)
 3.
Very, very cool! You get to meet any of the Lindisfarne guys? Alex
Forgot to clarify, Alex - the drummer at these gigs is Ray, a founder member of the band, and the front-man is Billy who was the latter-day front-man after Hully shuffled off this mortal coil. Ray's a lush drummer - he's so much fun to gig with. Mr. Feel.
 4.
It really bugs me as I search for something and most of it comes from the US
That's not really eBay's fault though, eh?
 5. Cheers, folks!
Love it when bands don't have the drummer in the centre of the stage. How did you find it with that moving head right next to you? Rig looks cool by the way.
Yeah, it's great. The drummer can see right across the stage and clock what's going on. He loves it. Plus, it means the projection screen doesn't have to be flown so high. I'm generally at the mic, so that vari-lite is usually behind me, off to one side. The whole shebang looks great when it's in full flight... I'll post some pics soon!
Nice one! Getting to play Lindisfarne tracks must be highly enjoyable work
It is! I play my fretless P on about half the songs, just like on the original records. Rod Clements is a great player, so it's a pleasure to play his lines.
Very, very cool! You get to meet any of the Lindisfarne guys? Alex
I'm pals with most of 'em, so yes. Lovely bunch.
Looks like an amazing show , wouldn't mind catching it if you do any down here in pasty land
We have gigs coming up in the Midlands, North Wales and Durham, and then we're doing a more comprehensive tour next year. I'll post the dates here when I have 'em!
 6.
Great for a dreamy Sunday afternoon.
Thank you - they were great songwriters. Still are, in fact.
 7. Hi all One of my bands has just done a run of (sold out!) theatre gigs around the North East, with more to come further afield over the next couple of months. It's been a lot of fun, with a great production spec & crew. I've never rehearsed so much for anything in my life. I'm knackered, but it's been worth it! Here's some pics of the set-up, and a photo from the production rehearsal. I'll stick a video up if anything comes to light. 8. My first proper band, many moons ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UirR_PEDzGg
 9. NO would be cool, but based on reports from musical friends who have made the trek, Memphis and Nashville sound disappointing. Fer my money, route 66 from East AZ to San Francisco and LA - the ultimate musically-themed road trip. Again, fer my money.
 10.
Well, if you want rid of your '71 J...
It's going soon...
 11.
Doesn't everyone use a DB? The HPF buffers my Piezos on my yn pre-amped guitar as well.
if the room is tricky or the FOH EQ isn't up to scratch, it's nice to have a para EQ and a notch filter, too.
 12. ...assuming the OP is using a DB.
 13. I generally avoid J's because of the scoop. My Roscoe Beck has sorted it, with the neck set to parallel and the bridge set to series. It's marvellous.
 14. Yip - I was going to recommend the Baggs Para DI or the Stage DI. I've been using the Fishman Aura recently too - lovely.
 15. Hello! For what instrument...?
 16. Here's a close-up of the board on my '71P.
 17.
All I am asking for are examples where Leo Fender sacrificed time and cost in the interests of quality.
Wow... Leo certainly rattled your cage, Kiwi :-)
 18. At the same time, I don't think anyone is comparing the quality of Fenders to ACGs or Foderas, but they are generally good-quality very playable instruments, designed to be easily maintained and last for a long time. All of the above is good enough for me, but I suppose it depends on your definition of quality.
 19.
You haven't done your research.
I think Johnny has probably done more than most. From what I've read (and that's a lot), Leo was very hands-on when it came to QC, and the workforce were very skilled and loyal.
 20. This thread TOTALLY reminds me of a man dressed up in a Nemo costume:
 21. *pssst* http://basschat.co.uk/topic/183234-rule-changes-to-marketplace-36-hour-bumping-rule-and-trade-valuations/
 22.
I'm sorry, but I don't get it. I can understand wanting to make the finish look vintage and look the part from the casual viewer's eye, but why go so far as to fake the date stamps?
I don't get it either... faking details that are usually out of sight is a few steps too far IMO. But, each to their own. Rick - apologies if I'm mistaken, but I seem to recall that you've advertised a detailed (and lovely) fake relic on BC before, clearly described as a fake - but with no markings on the instrument to make it clear. I remember raising an eyebrow at the time - sorry if I'm wrong.
 23.
Vintage stuff still appreciates though. I bought my '58 gold guard P, from a very famous denmark street dealer (The good one), in 2003, and its advertised price was £2500, i traded another vintage bass for it, but that was the price, the full on, ticket price in the most expensive vintage guitar street in the UK, and it was £2500!, i remember it was the going rate at the time, and i had it, because it was the first one i'd ever seen for sale in the UK, since I'd started collecting, so snapped it up. Its now worth upwards of 3x that. A boutique bass bought in 2003 certainly wouldnt be. My point is, they climb steadily, you dont have to wait yonks, obviosuly the longer you wait, the more it would appreciate, but 5 years would see you make money for sure, and have had 5 years owning and playing a great bass. certainly better than money in the bank at 0% interest, and what fun is that.
I generally agree - you're certainly unlikely to lose money in a five-year period. But to be sure of a return you're going to need to wait a while longer - the market is a bit wobbly and might get worse.
 24. I think the days of snaffling pre-1975 bargains are over. I did OK with my current crop, and past purchases, as I bought them at very reasonable prices. We've seen the prices of early 80's buyout-era basses rise a fair bit... my guess is the longhorns will be the next to bump up a bit. That said, vintage stuff holds its' value better then most band-new basses. New car syndrome, innit. If you want to buy a bass as an investment, be prepared to hang on to it for a VERY long time.
