1. Done a few.. some were bearable, some were horrid. As mentioned above, LOTS of waiting around.
2.
There's a '72 there as well if you need a reference for one with a maple neck
How I miss it... '73 is getting towards a transitional time, which is why you might find a few with black guards.
3. Watched a bit of Lee's set with Steve Hackett at the IoW festival on telly last night. Typically mad Hackett. Dunno who's idea it was to book him - the field looked pretty sparsely populated...!

Low morale?

IMO... it's partly due to people being over-sensitive. Mountains, molehills, etc.
5.
Thought it was only the Vapor Trails songs that were remixed for Retrospective III?
Fay Cry? One Little Victory, I mean. I had a late night last night...
6. As a bit of an aside... I know it's been mentioned before, but I've just picked up the remixed (not just remastered) 'Far Cry' from Retrospective 3. Alex and Rich Chycki really took the original mix apart and rebuilt the song so it sounds like a punchy power trio. The transformation is incredible. Well worth 70p or whatever from Amazon... Nice to see what they can do without Nick Raskuliniczceuliniczezecz layering the life out of everything...
7.
Flats? hate 'em. naa, buy a house. Sorry, cant be doing with them. I like a long note that I can mute myself, when I've had enough of it, not a shortish note sonic "thud" but then its only what I think ( and I know nowt!) its a prefered style thing really. well you did ask!
IME flats don't thud unless you want them to, and they have plenty of sustain. what kInd have you tried?
8. I prefer this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XsYuHbXZUk
9.
That screams Gibson to me.
Yip - It was probably Seth Lover's pet project. He was responsible for the 'bucker Tele, too.
10. I haven't seen one of these in a looooong looooong time.... The Fender Starcaster. Apparently only two remain in existence.
11. ...and my fiddly pal, currently on tour with Sting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HjsmIlUTZc There's hope for me yet.
12. Drummer playing a fish and a sally army bass drum on OGWT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mGyOKr8frw Same drummer, and a load of other people I play with regulary, backing Mark Knopfler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-3ZL2sh4CY (Obviously only one bass player needed, and the oldest got the shout. )
13. Flats are awesome. Of course if you've moved from rounds, you're going to get a shock as there's no zing. IMO though, once you get over it and focus in to where they sit in the mix, they're difficult to give up. Contrary to popular belief, flats aren't dull, boomy and lifeless. Unless you EQ them like that.
14. Someone buy this - they're unbelievable. If you want a passive bass that can nail a J tone, J-on-steroids, a P-on-steroids and encroach into MM 'bucker territory, look no further. They're so flexible it's unreal. And the build quality is up there with the CS. Eub - I don't know if you do Facebook, but if you do, post it here. If you don't, let me know and I'll post a link to this thread in there.
15. Yeah! So - let's get this right: You left the band, and he replaced you with Will Lee? That's quite a compliment.
16.
So what do you say to Twigman's post? He is in a band. They have success because of piracy.
Yep - it's a lesson to some bands that giving away a back catalogue which has already been recorded (and presumably the recording paid for) is a good thing. That choice should be made by the copyright owner, though.
17. Fer cryin' out loud... If someone has created something, quite possibily at significant expense, and they specifically ask you to pay to watch / listen to it, then just bliddy well pay for it! Don't say it's difficult to do so, because it isn't. You're making excuses. My six-year-old daughter can do it. What a bunch of tight-arsed chancers. I appreciate that it's also easy to download this stuff illegally. Crack on if you must, don't whinge and whine when the copyright owners try and stop you.
18. Alex has confirmed that they intend to go out with an 8-10 strong string section on this tour. Bleh. FWIW, I think - apart from the playout of The Garden - my favourite moment on the record is the instrumental break on Caravan, when it drops back to bass, drums and guitar with no layers of overdubs. Lovely, lovely sonic space. More of that, please. I can't believe I'm on a Rush downer. I never thought that would happen.
19. Meh. I'm going off it again. I've listened to it about 20 times, and it was really starting to click with me. But... but so many parts of the songs sound like unmemorable filler. Riff. Another riff. Back to the other riff again. Etc. I stand by what I said originally... where are the songs? FWIW, it's their best in a while I think.
20. The RB's are Fender's best-kept secret, IMO.
21. Building good bass cabs is a science. I would rather get something from someone who specialises - or has a decent track record - in making bass cabs. You'll get a lot of recommendations on here. Barefaced Bass for one.
22. Probably one for another thread, but I just find the Promethean head to be the best of all the micro heads I've used. It's still quite warm for a solid-state pre, but it's more defined than the TC450 and the Streamliner. That said, I've gone back to non-class D for my full-time head. The micros are a compromise. Again, IMO.
23.
I really dont want to do this but I have GAS for a Genz Benz streamliner 600 and have no money!
As a current Promethean owner, and a past Streamliner owner, I'd urge you not to. IMO/IME, of course.
24. Or the Stratoburst P: Boring old Fender. They never try anything different.
