1. Very sensible, those Canadians. All their stupidity is drained by clubbing seals. All that's left is common sense.
2. Here y'are...
3. if you do Facebook, stick 'em on here....
4. Given that I think the Promethean is the vest-value bit of kit I've ever bought, these other versions are pretty much being given away. Amazing.
5. Righty-ho... I'm back from my soiree with the band, armed with a photo. It turns out that it's MIJ, not MIA, but still....! Apparently, the bar owner just likes guitars, and he's bought it partly as an investment, and partly because he likes the look of it. I have to agree... It's a stunner.
6. Hi all I'm down in Wath, playing at a festival. The venue is a big hall, an there's a bar in it. As far as I can tell, it's permanent, not temporary. As you often see, there's an instrument 'nailed' to the bar wall. It's not the usual japcrap Les Paul copy, or cheapy snare drum... It is - I crap you not - what appears to be an immaculate FSR Fender Jazz in LPB, complete with rosewood and blocks. It's stuck on by a metal bracket which goes under the strings at the headstock, and there doesn't seem to be a quick way to release it and get it down, so it looks like it's never used. I'm now on a mission to find out what the story is. Bizarre.
7. ....it has to be said, seeing this drummer again is a breath of fresh air compared to the blizzard of 'May the fourth be with you!'s' that I'm weathering at the moment...
8. ...featuring my mate Pete on the fiddle. He's probably the best there is right now, and he's got the world at his feet. The jammy get. The other guitarist is Rufus Miller, Dominic's young'un.
9.
I have had the dvd version for a few years and it`s mostly good except too much Joe Walsh.
Too much Joe Walsh? Impossible!
10. The Strat Pack is a weird gig. Some of it is unbelievably shambolic, and the editing is terrible. And Jamie Cullum...? Some good stuff on it, though. Annie Clements is stunning. :-o
11.
The Memorial concert was awful IMO - great tunes done not very well.
Most of it was so-so, but when they did Baker Street my jaw hit the floor. I thought it was incredible... This version of 'Get It Right Next Time' from the this year's hogmanay is mint. Rab Noakes sings a blinder... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcBTeIulf4o
12.
Just saw this link to win a Fender Jazz Bass; http://www.rockschoo...titions/201205/
It's your website, isn't it?
13. It only has a tube preamp - the power stage is solid-state.
14. I listened to Xanadu in the car today. It was awesome. Punchy as hell. Headlong Flight came on immediately afterwards and really drove home how terrible modern mastering is. It was like listening to it through a telephone.
15. I've got one of those coming up as Skegness in December - the Great British Folk weekend. I've done a rock and roll weekend there once before, and it was fun.
16. IMO they've got no chance of matching past glories until they sort the songwriting out.
17. I used to get the 'click' with the drive maxxed out, regardless of the master vol. It was a ludicrous setting with no practical use, so it was never an issue.
18.
Jumping on the recent "isolated bass track" threads, just found this after following the YouTube suggested links. We do this in one of my covers bands but TBH, I'd never thought it was as busy as it is. A lot of the arrangement covers just how amazing the playing is. Think I need to do a little more to my "interpretation"
Heck, that's a great line.
19.
Maybe we should have a proper 'isolation' thread or something...
Knock yersel' oot....
20. SHAZAM! I had a spare five minutes....
Right, for all you amp geeks I took the lid off yesterday: All looks compact and bijou in there. If it goes pop then I guess it'll just go pop though - looks a lot closer to the definition of "no user serviceable parts inside" than my old Hartke HA3500
21.
Which is the clone, Promethean, HB or Redsub? If these really are the same is Ibanez taking the mick? We might assume there are differences beyond the red face (heh!) but there probably isn't. How can we find out?
I don't think Ibanez is 'taking the mick' given that the Promethean is a hell of a good deal as it is.
22.
It's no surprise that folk are driving around uninsured.
+1. £2200? Shocking.
23. Ooooh... I now have an Odyssey bag for it which fits like a glove.
