1. I do it for my bands (and others).
2. Well, I always liked my Mesa Walkabout, so I've gone back down that route. Yep, thats right... three times the weight, and a third of the power. I'm such a clown when it comes to amps. :-) I should add the Streamliner comes with the original box, with instructions.
3. I fancy a change, as I do every year or so with amps. It's my weakness, so my STL 900 is up for sale. Excellent condition, less than a year old, bought from Bass Direct (i.e. not a grey import). Comes with a super-cool Gigskinz bag, which fits perfectly, offers great protection and has loads of storage space. £580 posted, or £570 collected from around Newcastle way.
4. Hi all i've got some bits and bobs with various bands coming up - it'll be nice to see any BCers who can make it. 5.
Do I really need to remind you why you bought this Jazz in the first place? Si
Ha ha... it's never far from my mind.
6.
My EA Micro has a fan, not very noisy but you can hear it on a very quiet gig. Not a problem, but what puzzles me is why its there at all. I've pushed the amp on a few occasions and it never gets even the slightest bit warm..yet alone hot?
Sounds like the fan is doing a good job ;-)
7. Streamliner is really quiet - that said, fan noise generally doesn't bother me.
8. Hi all This has had a stay of execution... for the moment. Thanks for your interest.
9.
This "unplugged" nonsense really gets my goat. If it was a truly acoustic session you'd be recording it with a single stereo pair of microphones and achieving the balance of instruments and vocals by positioning the players relative to the microphones. In practice what it means is "sensitive" (read weedier) versions of the songs played on stringed instruments with hollow rather than solid bodies and everything else is pretty much the same as if you were doing a normal gig. "Acoustic" bass guitars (with a couple of exceptions) aren't loud enough to hold their own unamplified against an acoustic guitar, so you'll need one with a pickup on it anyway. Unless you spend a lot of money it'll sound worse than an average solid bass guitar. To stay true to the "acoustic vibe" you really ought to be using an upright bass, but for a radio show this generally defeats the object as the main reason they want you to play "acoustically" is so you don't bring lots of bulky gear to the studio. Besides no one can see what you are playing on the radio. Bring a solid bass (string with flats if you really must) and a decent DI box to be on the safe side.

Yea. Load of rubbish. An electric bass is fine. Do they need a bass player for the gig? if so, what choice do they have.
^^^ both of these. Electric basses have been used with acoustic music since time immemorial. Using acoustic basses was OK on MTV unplugged in 1993, but unless you're going the DB route, just use your regular electric (with flats, IMO).
10. I had a Geddy and didn't get on with it. It weighed a ton and the neck was akin to a pencil.
11. IME that mid spot on the Promethean is calmed by pulling the 800Hz slider down a bit. Mind you, that only applies to solo practice. If I do anything with a band, the slider goes back to 0db...
12. Its cos thuv urnly got fower strings urn, an thats aal wu can coont to.
13. My P is here too, but only flats allowed. :-)
14. I've always loved the full-length version of In Your Eyes. It was a shame they had to chop it for the original cut. PG's b-sides around that time were mint. Across the River, Don't Break This Rhythm... Lovely.
15. You should really give this a bump every now and then. It's in danger of dropping out of the five most recent threads.
16. Yip... the Mesa Hybrid stuff is notoriously unfriendly when it comes to voltage switching. Dunno if the valve stuff is the same.
17. Ah, OK. On the face of it, that's very disappointing from Overwater. Good luck with it.
18. James - I do hope you get sorted, but I think putting a vid on YouTube without giving Overwater a chance to respond first is very uncool. Just sayin'.
19. Same issue as Neepheid for me... iPhone 4.
20.
It's not Mesa, it's Westside Distribution. See the new Mini Rectifier...$999 in the USA, £1099 here.
Yes, but presumably Mesa have some say over who distributes their products. FWIW, all non-US pricing is extortionate, not just the UK...
21. I bought an amp from Jon - great amp, great communication, great packaging. Thanks!
22.
Awesome sounding gear, but too expensive and I have seen too many basic design flaws/electronic issues to justify their prices. My MPulse 600 for instance had some extremely dodgy inner wiring (bought NEW), after it was corrected it was an awesome amp... but clearly QC was not great.
I'm not denying you had a problem with your MPulse, but generally speaking I don't think Mesa have a reputation for poor QC...?
23. Yip... Mesa should be tied to a tree and flogged for their overseas pricing policy.
24. Tyneside? Northumberland? Cobblers. No-one round these parts pronounces it b-Ass.
25. The BG 250... http://www.tcelectronic.com/bg250.asp It begs the question - in real-life, is it 250w... or 125w? Not that it matters...
