1.
Is there much noise from the Mesa fan? I ask as I had a Scout some years back and the fan noise used to hack me off, when running at home, though I have a feeling newer ones are a lot quieter.
You can hear it, but it doesn't bother me, even when I'm plunking away in the house.
2.
I get the strange feeling you like fenders...... Sunburst ones...
Only ones with rosewood necks.
3. I've been through loads of amps over the years - it's my weakness. Nothing's ever sounded as good as when I would occasionally pull the head out of my Walkabout Scout and run it through the Bergs. It was always a glorious noise. I sold the Walkabout Scout a while ago, and I've been looking for that sound ever since.. and now I've found it. A MESA Walkabout head. Gigged it a few times now, and it's everything I remember. It's hard to describe - smooth, solid notes that are 'alive', and jump out the cabs. Love it, love it, love it. Happy days...

Just sold an amp to Tony - Quick payment, and he remained very patient and understanding while I was messed around beyond belief by the courier. Thanks, Tony - and again, apologies!
5. But if you were head of Marketing, and you were consistently hopeless at it, it would be justified :-)
6. Carouselambra. Awesome.
7.
...fair point. I guess I mean it wont be as good as a "proper" product film that is scripted and edited, and they can take their time over.
To be fair, he's been doing this a while now and he never seems to get better at it. Compare this to the like of Genz etc's. efforts at trade shows. They make Ashdown look a bit silly.
8.
Yes it helps to be better prepared for these things. But someone shows up to the booth with a camera and tells you to talk for 5 minutes off the cuff - chances are its not going to be perfect.
Why not? That's his job...
9. This chap has been discussed before. I'm sure he's a lovely lad, but he should be locked in a cupboard when events like this are happening. Bless 'im.
10. As it 'appens, I've been waiting for City Link to pick up an amp I've sold since TUESDAY 3RD! I gave up today - sent Parcel2Go (the broker) a load of a abuse, and took it to the Post Office instead. What's going on with the Newcastle depot??
11.
Not anymore mate. Rickenbackers are banned on Basschat now.
Yep... word has it John Hall heard that Geddy was playing his Ricky during the encore on the Snakes & Arrows tour, and issued a cease & desist.* *I made this up, but you never know. It might be true.
12. Reasonably-priced pre-order with goodies here: http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/get-rushs-new-album%E2%80%A6-a-month-early/
13. I wouldn't be comfortable using a Promethean to gig with in medium-sized pubs. It's amazing for the size, but it's a small box and it doesn't break the laws of physics.
14. I can't help thinking it's because the 'songs' are just riffs assembled in ProTools now. I wonder if they've re-recorded Caravan and BU2B because they've been gigged, and had a bit humanity breathed into them..
15.
I just hope geddy doesn't come in singing a no-melody melody a fifth above the tonic. It's getting really irritating that. Also Razcinulez had better leave the dynamics in there instead of that disgusting travesty of mastering on S&A.
+1 - there's a definite lack of melodies on their latter-day albums.
16. Haters gonna keep hatin', but for everyone else... http://bcove.me/hwp437l4 And here's the tracklist: 1. Caravan 2. BU2B 3. Clockwork Angels 4. The Anarchist 5. Carnies 6. Halo Effect 7. Seven Cities Of Gold 8. The Wreckers 9. Headlong Flight 10. BU2B2 11. Wish Them Well 12. The Garden OK, it's only a 30-second clip but it sounds nice and lively, and Alex's guitar seems to have a bit of bite to it, rather than the fat slab of nonsense he's been using recently. Also... Track 10 - BU2B2? Jesus... the first one wasn't anything special. We wait and wonder.
17. Assuming it had a tort guard originally, I think you'd be looking at this side of 2K, a bit less if there's no case. But the market is crazy at the minute, so who knows?
18. I'm selling my old Rockinbetter copy. According to the headstock, it's made by a company called Rickenbacker. Don't know much about them - I think they're American? £200 ono.
19. See also White Room / Tales Of Great Ulysees by Cream, and a load of other songs. It's quite a common progression...
20. I also had years and years of problem-free PayPal use... ...until a couple of weeks ago when something went wrong. Never in my life have I encountered such appalling customer service. I was literally shocked. I now hate them with a passion, and the sooner their monopoly is broken, the better.
21.
For all the horror stories (been there myself) E-bay is probably a lot safer than buying or selling at public auction. Steve
Taking this thread as an example, it's probably easier to spot 'serious undisclosed damage to the headstock that could not be repaired' at a public auction than it would be buying over eBay.
22. Not totally musical, but - 'Price point'. 'Tone goals'. Horrible phrases carried over from Talkbass, infesting BC like Japanese knotweed.
23. Fer me, it's random. Sometimes I'm thrown to the start, sometimes the end, and sometimes the middle of a thread. It's all very confusing.
24. Q: What do you call a drummer who can't keep time? A: Not a drummer, that's for sure. If you find yourself up against one of these, I either bite your tongue and soldier on, sack him, or leave the band. Life's too short to educate drummers who can't keep time.
