1. I've just strung it up with nickels for tonight's gig (I'm on a temporary rounds kick!), and noticed a rattle at the headstock after I tuned it up. Spotted a couple of screws were a bit loose on the Hipshots, tightened them up, and all's well! It's really light, but so resonant. it sustains forever. Howard spotted that it seems to be a single piece of alder. We can't see a join anywhere. This thing is so rich and fat... *sigh*
 2. Right... back from rehearsal. Amazing. Such a nice weight.. it balances perfectly.. the assymetric neck is SO comfortable. And the range of tones... it does classic Jazz, but the neck pickup solo'd is so big and focused. And then you switch it to series, and.. BAM! All passive, and incredible. So far, i couldn't be happier. Really. As for the ramp.. I'm a 'floater' so I don't really need it. I'll leave it in the packet.
 3. Declining the opportunity to be flown out to Lima, Peru, to do a dep. I said no because I didn't want to 'waste' any of my holidays. What a tool.
 4.
How does that work then! Did they in fact design this bass specially for you do you think?
It's a compromise to the lack of a blend pot. Apparently switching works better than a blend knob.. or something. If they'd designed it for me it would have had blocks and a TV logo... not far off, though!
 5.
Very beautiful...except that pickguard. It's not just me is it?
Aww... I love it. It's the Cowpoke in me.
 6.
...except the above!
Nope.. pull the tone pot out, and... click! The neck pup is backed off slightly. Yay!
 7.
I love these. Except for the lack of pan pot...
I can understand that. When I use a J, I only over really use neck solo'd, both full on, or neck backed off slightly so I'll not be missing anything...
 8.
oh well.... where is Bill Beaumont when you need him
He's retired now, hasn't he?

 10. Hi folks I've been on the hunt for a Sunburst PJ with block markers, tort guard, P profile neck, 70s logo. So, when I saw this Roscoe Beck IV, which has virtually none of those attributes, I just had to buy it. In my defence, I've wanted one for years, since I first read about them... Sold as a used bass, but unplayed - virtually untouched, in fact. Plastic still on the pickguard, bag of goodies unopened, clear plastic ramp still in it's packet (what are these for, anyway?). First impressions plunking it in the office... medium-weight (8lb 9oz or thereabouts), resonant, beautiful... I'll be taking it to out very own The Bass Doc tomorrow to have him run his eye over it. And then, if it's a keeper, I'll be asking him to make a tort guard for it. More as I have it!
 11. Oooh... I've got mail. 'A delivery requires your signature...' Typically, I'm a 15 minute walk away, having popped out for a lunchtime woodland stroll...

I was in Ashington and a dog jumped up at me. the owner said, "Leave the mairn alairn y' baird laird"
Mrs. WoT went to a ladies' salon in Ashington once, and asked for a perm.
