1.
Who is this infamous seller?
Here's a bit of background. There's more from other sources if you Google him... http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-discussion-forum/41792-amazing-antics-www-vintage-sales-com.html
2. Even if I had a spare £12K rattling around in my pockets, I'd think twice before handing any over to that seller.
3.
I've got a friend who is a sound engineer and she's doing the sound for an Eric Clapton tribute band next weekend. She's offered to get me in for free. Having just googled the band in question, they're so mediocre, I don't think I'll bother.
Are they from my neck'o'the woods, by any chance?
4.
Hi WoT, A couple of questions if that's ok? Did the flats require a big change to the truss rod? I put a set of LaBella Deep Talking on my Jazz, got scared by how much the neck bowed and took them off shortly after fitting! Do you still have a wide variation in tones available compared to before fitting flats? I like the tone you have in the vid. deep growling 'E' and yes, I liked the vid, nice one. Regards Mark
Hello Mark! I'm flattered, but it's not me in the vid. I just stumbled across it. FWIW, I use La Bella flats on my 70s J, and once the truss is tweaked a little to compensate if necessary, it's fine.
5. Oh - OK. I actually prefer it to most improvisations I hear on youtube. ha ha.
6.
thing is i don't get with the millions of bass vids on youtube that people put up is they just seem to be playing as many licks as they have at their disposal. Why can't people just come up with a melody and make a song out of it, then put that up instead? The bass sounds very nice though the guys got great technique.
As the title of his YouTube clip says, it's just an improv...
7.
WoT wheres the vid of your new bass?
I've given up. They all sound like a right load of b*llocks compared to the likes of the above... Lovely, lovely bass though. I'm playing it as I type, and I'll be gigging it tonight. Beautiful.
8. I like this a lot... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlC6zZvXMnE

10. Just sold something to Jerry - a pleasure doing business. Thanks!
11. I'm having a joyous time at the moment with some Laklands, that I bought direct from Lakland for about £22 posted. Lovely sound & feel... not far from my La Bella FLs but with more 'note' to them (and cheaper!). Mind you, it'll be a while before they're totally broken in.
12. Had this been around a couple of weeks ago, I would have snapped this up.... Good luck with the sale.
13. Lovely stuff....
14. I love the way this chap winds some people up.
15. I threw up on some punters during a gig in North Shields once. Thankfully, they were very understanding.
16.
5 hours there, 5 hours back...day off work, cost of fuel, cost of staying over, currently have no car as saving for a much better one thus using the joys of the bus/train.
If that's what it takes... Specifically what don't you like about this one?
17.
Whoa, now there's a bargain folks. Present cost new £236 unfinished, £332 laquered! Then there's the nut (not supplied when buying the neck) and the decal..... Just a point WoT, maybe check the measurement at the nut - should be nearer 1 5/8ths? Also for 'string tree' read ferrule. Priceless bonus:- touched by the hand that shook Leo Fender's.
Cheers, Doc.. I'm so delirious at the moment (the nipper isn't doing too much of that 'sleeping' thing) I'm writing all sorts of nonsense that the moment. You're right, it's bang on 1 5/8ths!
18. Hi all Allparts, Fender licensed. Thick ebony board. 70's TV logo, vintage tint by Howard the Bass Doc. 1 5/8" at the nut. No issues, other than a little bit of the finish lifting off around one of the tuner holes, which will be hidden when the ferrule is fitted. £100 + postage.
19. This is my old bass... it's lovely. The active circuit on these are great. FWIW, not only is it rare because they were only made for a year, but it's also one of the very earliest of the run, produced before they moved to a darker 'burstier' finish.
20. FWIW, the old/current head & combo aren't in the 2012 catalogue... just the new stuff.
21.
I thought I'd been reading they were GHS strings?
Whoops.. you're right. It's been a long day...! I'll correct my post.
22. FWIW, I've just bought a set of 4-string Lakland Joe Osborne flats direct from Lakland, for just over £20 posted. They arrived within 5 days. They're re-branded GHS strings, apparently very similar to their Precision flats. They seem very nice, too.
23.
I think the 106 on the website is a mistake. The packet I had said 105. In fact even the picture of the packet on the website says 105.
My packaging says 106...
