1. 'Calling Warwickhunt... can you hear me, Warwickhunt?'
 2. Buy a used bass for a fraction of that and spend a good chunk of money on a decent set-up.
 3. There's hope yet.... from a new interview with Geddy in Rolling Stone:
The first two [single] releases from this album, "Caravan" and "Brought Up to Believe," are a great indication of where this album's going, although there's much more variety than just what those two songs offer. When I look back at [2007 album] "Snakes and Arrows," as happy as we were with that record, in retrospect I feel we kind of overdid it with overdubs. We'd like to simplify that, just in terms of making sure the guitar, bass and drum sounds are big and loud and clear, and any time we are going to add an overdub, to make sure that it definitely is adding and not subtracting.
Here's hoping....
 4. I've had good experiences with Thomann.
 5.
Actually, there was a 1973 oly white with tort pg, maple and black blocks/binding (according to the book), so this may be permissible ...depends if you want to stick to the colour combinations that were available in 1979... or not.
Tort and a late-70s logo is just wrong...! :-)
 6.
Forgive me for this question but am i ok to put a set of 'flats' on a squier cv jazz bass.....the chap at store were i purchased it doesn't recomend it? He say's 'flats' are better on a precision?
He's talking rubbish.
 7.
This is the bass I referred to earlier. Although having seen yours I'm not so sure its cherryburst any more...could be sienna burst if they offered that colour back then or maybe a very faded standard sunburst.
That's just a faded early 3TSB. Here's one in slightly better nick:
 8. Tort wouldn't look right with a late 70s decal. Maui blue gets my vote...
 9. You think YOU'VE got problems with the neighbours? Mine was banging on the door at 3am this morning. Lucky for him I was up doing bagpipe practice.
 10. Apparently the mod I refer to in my earlier post buffers the pickup as it should have been. They're supposed to sound great.
 11.
I had one which I sold to Philw - fretless - I wasn't overly impressed TBH - lacked something...
One of these, maybe?
 12. I think if you buy a cover from Silverstone after reading this thread, and other reports around the web, you haven't really got grounds to grumble if it goes wrong.
 13. The people who say the Streamliner is muddy and undefined are generally those who haven't realised the bass knob turns anticlockwise.
 14. Love that tune, love the production. It sounds like a band.
 15.
I would buy from the again as i really liked the covers
Wow... you're brave.
 16. Played at Newcastle City Hall on Saturday.. always a treat. It's an annual do, and we always have a few different guests on. Here's some photos. If any of you get the chance to see the New Rope String Band, don't miss 'em. They're a hoot.
 17. I'm in four... First come, first served unless a compromise can be reached that makes everyone happy. Sometimes I have to say no to really good stuff, but that's just how it is...
 18.
Oh.... the temptation!!
...to do what, pray tell?
 19. I wasn't able to get along for this, but I'll C&P this from a local music forum... ------------- Genes-ish @ The Office, Sat 26th Nov 2011 As we all know, the North East is a hotbed of talent, and when it comes to tribute bands we are especially well catered for - some of the country's finest residing right at our doorstep. Consequently our expectations of tribute bands are set very highly indeed and the vast majority of imported talent falls well short of the supreme standards we have come to expect. NOT THIS BAND..... Having saw their gig at the 3 Tuns about a year or so ago, I was expecting a quality show, but the lineup changes since that gig have taken what was already a superb tribute and lifted it right up to the very top of the tree. Arriving an infuriating 15 minutes late, I found the band just about to open "The Cage", for me easily the highlight of what I saw of their first set. Set 2 opened with crowd pleaser "Mama", singer John Kirby superbly lit (as was the entire show) in green strobes as he pulled a suitable Collins-esque gurn during the sinister laughter that has become that song's signature moment, and through out the show John displayed knowing touches of dramatic stage presence, not least during "The Musical Box" - the interaction with an over enthusiastic fan merely adding to the spectacle. Closing opus "Firth of Fith" resulted in roars of approval before John joined drummer Alex for a spectacular duet that worked like magic. The fact that John also drums means Genes-ish are able to deliver the full Collins style show to superb effect. Dramatic stage presence, excellent musicianship and spellbinding vocal delivery - what more could you ask of a front man? A spectacular "Los Endos", an enormous huge crowd singalong to "I Know What I Like" and a suitably uptempo "Turn It On Again" closed out one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time and easily one of my top gigs this year. With excellent performances from Neil Gordon (keys), Pete Smith (guitars) , Justin Ryan (bass) and Alex Lindley (drums), Genes-ish are easily up there with the top tributes you will ever see. I could have wrote this review in one word - AWESOME ! Moo! PMSbull
 20.
DAMN if I didn't think Geddy's perpetual one finger flamenco dan-an-ana-nana-nana-nana-angering over the OLD tunes, let alone the new, P*ssed me off big time.
Yeah... me too. When it hit home for me was the instrumental break in Between the Wheels on the R30 tour.
In short, I know where OP is coming from, but I still think he produces good stuff, albeit in smaller quantity. But he and the three of them as a whole have earned the right to sit back more than any other rock band IMO, period.
The thing is, they can only get away with it 'cos there's thousands of people like me who will continue to throw money at them regardless of what they put out. They're almost unique in that regard. (Oh, and Alex... stop pretending to sing. It looks silly.)
 21.
New album due next year, and according to Ged in a recent interview, the producer is trying to encourage an older-style Rush record...epics were also mentioned. They put out a taster last year, the Caravan/BU2B single. If that's what's called a working retirement, they sound more alive on those two tracks than bands half their age IMHO!
I quite like Caravan, but it's not 'great'. IMO. Y'know, I'd like to hear them stripped back. Just the three of them doing their thing.
