    I'm glad I can turn up to gigs with a fairly lightweight amp and cab that I like the sound of, and not have to think about any of this stuff 😄

    When I went fretless, I didn't think about it too much. I just picked it up and played it.* *Important note: I'm not trying to cop Jaco parts or owt like that. Had that been the case, I suspect the transition would have been less successful.

    Is that a generalisation based on a single bass? I’ve played some pre-CBS dogs, and own(ed) some CBS beauties. There are dogs and diamonds in every era.

    My hit rate with 70s Fenders has been similar to yours - in turn, comparable to any other era.
