2. Or... hang on a couple more years and go for something in Stratoburst...
 3. The man on the telly has just called Cee Lo Green 'One of the great modern day soul voices'. Now, my knowledge of modern music isn't great, but Jesus... is he the best we can do? Tell me it ain't so... I like his outfit, though. Fair play to him for wearing that.
 4.
Someone bought an original '61 Strat in to our shop. As soon as it was plugged in you could hear how much better it sounded. As a bass player I hate the back pickup on Strats, but this was fat and smooth - no harshness whatever. The whole sound and tone was just amazing.
It would be interesting to know if it sounded like that in '61, wouldn't it? Or, could the pickups have mellowed with age, or something...?
 5. I had a sparkly back one with gold hardware. It was the closest thing I could find to Geddy's Wal. Eeeeh.... happy days.
 6.
I see he has put the frets back in his bass - intonation problems maybe?
Nah - he fancied a bass that matched his troosers...
 7.
Intrigued beyond reason by this discourse, I have spent the day Googling sundry permutations to no avail. Where might I find images of Kenny Passarelli's magnificent trousers? If none are available, perhaps one of you might be kind enough to supply a more detailed written description. I cannot rest until I know more.
Behold! (This doesn't really do them justice. In context.. a diminutive Italian donning these trews, surrounded by a sea of old blokes in Levis and shirts, was remarkable.)
 8. I'm surprised people still buy cases like the one in the OP, given that you can get a Hiscox (which, to be blunt, is a 'proper' case) for seventy quid...
 9.
The answer to this question is definately YES! They were indeed a magnificent pair of trousers. The inside leg measurement ia 18 inches I believe.
I've coveted them trousers ever since the day I laid eyes on them. Incredible.
 10.
I saw KP play bass for Stephen Stills a few years ago. I shook Stills' hand at the end of the gig. A very memorable night. Kenny did mention that his knob was as big as Heathrow Airport.
Was Kenny wearing the same trousers as he had on at the Newcastle City Hall gig? What a pair of troosers. Magnificent.
 11.
You have more than one string and you've given it a name Dave
Can you imagine? Bloody Jazzers!
 12. IMO, any music played to a captive or semi-captive audience who don't really want to hear it can be considered self-indulgent.
 13.
I suppose it all depends how you interpret "among the first".
In this context I'm interpreting it as 'A pioneer of...'
 14.
The article states that he was AMONG THE FIRST, not the first. I cannot see a problem with the statement, although I have not heard of the man nor have I heard the Joe Walsh LP mentioned. The record could be the earliest with a strong fretless presence, in which case the whole thing seems fully valid. Of course, if the record is not the earliest [etc]
Fair point, but... Fender were offering fretless as a factory option in late '69. Also, one of the best-selling UK albums by a home-grown artist in 1971 prominently features fretless bass. Fretless wasn't a new idea by 1973, I think. Kenny Pasarelli is a great player, IMO.

 16.
Who mentioned Jazz?
No-one has to mention Jazz. It's a state of mind that transcends all others.
 17.
I'm more worried that WoT doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between a child's building brick and a fish.
It was a joke, but I guess it fell flat 'cos there's no room for humour in a thread about Jazz.
 18.
Me neither. Sod 'em. Let's go look for some sticklebacks.
Found one! Oooh... two, actually! Do I win a prize?
 19. It looks like a legit (but modded) boner J to me...
 20. I think a lot of people who weren't standing in her shoes at that exact moment are jumping the conclusion that she's an idiot. None of us were actually there in the minutes leading up to her walking out on stage. None of us know exactly what she was hearing at the time. I don't know either, but I'd be surprised if she was just downright incompetent at that sort of level.
