  1. I use nowt, but then - according to the lady who did my moulds - I have freakishly spacious ear canals.
  2. Nope - that's how they are from the factory.
  3. You'll see that on non-capped maple necks, 'cos there's no board to lift off. Hence the plug & skunk-stripe.
  4. I had a '72. Almost uniquely it was as light as a feather, but that pickup is a big hot beast which will smash the preamp in any head, and is tonally 'challenging'. Tip: If you have a look at the photo of the pickup in the eBay auction, you'll see there are a couple of flat-headed screws at opposite corners. Take those out to make the pickup a little more manageable. (I sold mine to the bass player out of It Bites, IIRC).
  5. Bridge placement varied a bit over the years, hence the long G bridge screw in the early 70s.
  6. Because AI says otherwise, so the people who've actually seen it must be wrong 😄
  7. But… we don’t know for a fact what colour they were.
  8. TBH at this point I’m going to go with what the family say as opposed to AI colourisation algorithm 😄
  9. The plot thickens! Is that colourised, or original colours…?
  10. Keep offers to PMs, please. Thank you.
  11. Selmer did indeed do fiesta red resprays. It's worth pointing out at that this one was a 'pastel turquoise pale blue finish'. ..and not a refin.
  12. Aye. Merry Chrissssmiiiiis x
  13. Because it's not 'burst.
  14. ...'cos it sure as hell depressed me. Someone posted this photo on my home village's FB group of a local band from back in the day. 'Hellooooooo' says I - there can't have been many custom colour P's in the UK - never mind our little part of the North East - back then. Intrigued, I went on the hunt and tracked down the bass player's step-son, who still lives in the area along with the man himself. I asked the step-son what happened to the bass. "Yeah, it was a sort of pastel turquoise pale blue finish. He sold it about ten years ago for pennies (£150 if my memory serves me well)." *sigh*
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest they might be available from other vendors.
  16. FWIW I bought a bass off them a while ago, and they were spot-on.
  17. I feel duty-bound to point out that the 'A' tuner on that is a modern replacement. It's still lovely, though.
  18. Don't be. I'm quite confident they all signed it off, and made a chunk of cash.
  19. Yeah, let's stop the fish puns. I hate fish anyway, and if we carry on dorsal fin-ish me off.
  20. I’d argue it’s a bit of a hook on the the JJC version.
  21. I’m desperately, desperately hurt.
  22. Are you suggesting you’re a professional musician because you don’t have string noise?
  23. That’s commendable. I’m sure your audiences appreciate the lack of string noise.
  24. I bet you iron your jeans, too.
  25. I suspect your tolerance of string noise is significantly lower than most.
