2.
Seven
Wrong! The answer is seven-and-a-bit. And I should know - I've got Wall-E on DVD *and* Blu-Ray.
 3. LULz.. this drumer is at TEH RONG GIG!!! WTF LOL
 4.
Gig bag, but most of my "gigs" are two blocks away, so I walk.
Is Wales part of Manhattan now? Hiscox hard case all the way...
 5. And the Genz Bensz Streamliner...

 7. The Moobs are from over this way, I think. I played KBF back in.. Um... 1998-ish. Jolly good fun, it was. BTW, the band who headlined on the Saturday, the Emerald Thieves, are on the lookout for a new bass player. I could fancy it myself, but I have a bit on at the mo. PM me if anyone wants more info.
 8.
I don't remember the GB models I've tried, definitely not the Streamliner tho... Would love to try one, the thing is and amp or a cab really shows it's advantages/disadvantages when gigging, in a room they all sound good .
Absolutely. Based on gigging it at least twice a week, and the Streamliner is the best amp I've owned by a long shot. It's reminded me what 'real' bass sounds like. That said, the point has been made elsewhere that this thread is just going to be a list of everyone's favourite bass amps...
 9.
So... I am open to any advice and suggestions and will appreciate everyone's opinion, especially of the ones of you that has been gigging a lot lately. Just to mention - I've tried.... Genz-Benz [snip] definitely not my thing... they all kinda sound too shallow to me.
The Genz-Benz Streamliner changes all that. It WHUMPS.
 10. The truth is, no-one knows for sure. Probably not even Geddy. All we can do is speculate.
 11.
Don't buy any of them until you've tried some vintage Precisions. Each of the four you mention (if new, as I assume they are) will lose roughly a third of their value as you walk out of the shop, and may be down by 50% by the time you come to sell. I have yet to work out why so many people want new instruments. If it's not a Custom or something really unusual that you just have to own, then let someone else take that initial hit. Push the boat out a bit, double your budget, and you can buy something that plays & sounds at least as good as any of them, but is a jen-you-wine vintage bass and will either lose you very little or, more probably, make you a profit when it's time to sell. You can't afford a 60's bass, and late 70's basses often have issues (including, for me, excessive weight) but with a bit of shopping around you might find a decent mid 70's bass you can afford, especially if you sell/trade one or more of your existing herd to help fund it.
I've never really entertained buying new for the same reason. I've never bought a brand-new car, either. I don't want to take that hit.
 12. Bear in mind all four will probably be set up differently... if at all. Try and keep that in mind. You'll be amazed how a set up can change a 'meh' bass into something that plays like 'buttah'.
 13.
If it's an ongoing problem why not limit any new images to <1MB?
This ^^^
 14.
Hi There, I tested it yesterday in rehearsal.. so here my first impressions: - The Zoom H2 a bit cheap at unpacking. The thing costs about 170Euros, I would have prefer a little less "low quality plastic feeling" - The menu / navigation are very decent, no remark here. Test in rehearsal: - Installation, getting, ready & recording control: perfect. Due to the lack of big SD card, I had to record in MP3 and I probably picked up a wrong format, the compression is extremly damaging in my case, so to check next week. However, even compressed, I've been extremly surprised to hear what's been picked up.I'm very confident about the quality once in WAV (8Gb CD on its way :-)) When I tested the device at home, I'm been positivly impressed by the micros sensitivity & the sound quality all in all : a good choice for me so far. (I wanted a qucik way to record, without wasting the rehearsal time with recording consideration, and job done!)
I agree about the casing... it does feel cheap. FWIW, I usually record at 320kbps, and I can't really hear much in the way of compression. Nothing blindingly obvious, anyway.
 15. Exactly like the record? Not many. Faithful to the intention of the original? Loads - probably more than I think I do.
Awaiting a referral but I'm 99% sure I have Asbergers which means I have a sh*t hot memory.
mmm... Ass Burgers..
 16. Well, since you asked.. Here's the brief version. I went in there a few years ago, while shopping for a Custom Shop Precision. Found just what I wanted. It was new, and for whatever reason the saddles were sky-high. I asked if someone could give it a quick tweak so I could try it with a decent setup. Norm wasn't around, but the lackeys mumbled and moaned about it. I persisted (it was a $2000 bass, after all) and they eventually took it through to the back to be tinkered with. It came back, I played it and it was lovely. So... I did the deal. My card payment went through, and one of the miserable lackeys went through the back to get the case. They came back with a standard generic Fender case. I explained it should have a CS case, case candy, etc (remember - it was a new bass). They went back in and came back with some other random case. After a few more attempts, I eventually gave up and asked them to cancel the payment. A couple of weeks later when I got home, I got my statement and I'd been charged £80 because of the difference between the buying and selling exchange rate. I rang Norm, asked if he'd meet halfway on the charges as it wasn't my fault. He responded with abuse and four-letter words. Nice.
 17.
Damn, the place with the '59 only has 2 of the buggers! One of them has the matching headstock too. This is the other one: Anyone want to guess a price?
I wouldn't give Norm a penny of my money.
 18.
My cabs come up to my waist and I can hear every note. The last thing I want is a cab at ear level!
When you're playing a fretless P with flats, you need all the help you can get...
 19.
I can't think what mush sounds some people must have in order to have to stack cabs to be able to hear properly.
My tone rocks. So there. And because the cab is by my ear I can lower the volume. It's all good.
 20.
Except David Gilmour's best recordings most likely didn't use any of that cryogenically frozen BS, so history would tell us that he has actually been far less successful when using it. Listening to some of his solo albums it sounds like they froze his musical ability too....
I can only agree. The Legend that is Dave should maybe spend less time freezing his cables and more time writing better songs than he has been. Incidentally, most of his last CD was recorded in the wrong key, so they had to digitally change the pitch of the majority of the tracks. I'm not surprised it sounds so lifeless.
 21.
meant "when you awake"
Unfaithful Servant is on the same DVD (Classic Albums). Even when Poor 'Ol Rick was a physical mess, he could still sing like an angel and play like a demon...
