The 1x10 combo is - IME - loud enough for acoustic gigs, or gigs with a controlled drummer (do they exist?). The head with a bigger cab is more than capable of handling any gig. Great combos...

Hmm... I'm not a fan of neck-buckers. They're not really 'middy' things to my ears.

The volume knobs might be tapered differently. The earlier amp's knob might be front-loaded, so most of the volume change might happed on the first quarter-turn, while the LH500 might be more spread over the full range. Just one possibility.

Don't ask the US military for help. They've been trying to secure a rack since 2003. *snort*

Guitarists who don't know what they are playing
for those of us who work with them, they are, to a greater or lessor degree, a pain in the ass and slow things down dramatically.
Why don't people say 'pain in the arse' anymore? Just wondering. -

Will you all stop comparing music to golf? I find it offensive. Thank you. -
I've been playing recently with a guitarist who not only generally doesn't know what notes/chords she's playing, but also uses loads of non-standard tunings, multiple capos and complex voicings (so no chance of hand-watching to catch the chords). Doesn't stop her being a cracking songwriter though.
Would you say she is an expert in the oral tradition? -

Let's leave it to Google. Google knows EVERYTHING.
It would appear we were both correct, although it appears that 'aural' tradition is possibly specific to music traditions such as 'folk' and 'blues'.
Ah, yes... but - as it's never written down, who cares how you spell it? -
I don't think so. "Aural tradition - Many types of music, such as traditional blues and folk music were originally preserved in the memory of performers, and the songs were handed down orally, or aurally (by ear). When the composer of music is no longer known, this music is often classified as "traditional." Different musical traditions have different attitudes towards how and where to make changes to the original source material, from quite strict, to those that demand improvisation or modification to the music. A culture's history may also be passed by ear through song." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music#Aural_tradition
..and also: "Oral tradition, oral culture and oral lore is cultural material and traditions transmitted orally from one generation to another.[1][2] The messages or testimony are verbally transmitted in speech or song and may take the form, for example, of folktales, sayings, ballads, songs, or chants."
...another view Life's too short to spend half of every rehearsal working out what the guitarist is doing AND rehearsing the music
It's folk music, man. Once round the chords... sorted. -
I would not want to spend time solving the kinds of problems that these people create in their ignorance. Life's too short.
...another view: If I was confronted with a guitarist like this, it wouldn't really bother me. I'd just work out what chords he's playing and crack on. Life's too short.
No wonder Fender got lazy and stopped trying when they realised people would spend extra on a standard bass with a plate on it that just said James Jamerson!!
To be fair, it was CS-built.
There was a limited edition in the early 1990s I think.
Ooh - you're right. Forgot about that one... 'twas a very limited run.

They haven't, I'm guessing partly because JJ's P was a fairly standard config, already available as a reissue.

This is what I use (for some gigs, too..!). Headphone & AUX inputs, too.

If they're bothered about the version that's on YouTube, it's fairly easy for them to have it removed. But they have to do that. Other than that... as you were. There are bigger fish to fry...* *Disclaimer - I'm not a music lawyer. -
I have just got a MarkBass 121H combo which generally is very nice. However, I am struggling to get a sound that I am happy with from it with my Precision. If I run the EQ flat with no VLE or VPF it sounds very boxy, boomy and clanky. Very messy, aggresive and unbalanced. I find I have to turn the low frequency down a little as the bass frequency is massive. The low mids to 9 o clock to reduce the boomy boxy sound and the high to around 3 o clock to get a bit of clarity. If I use the VPF, then it sounds a bit better but I loose all the top end and expresion. I have read another comment that MarkBass and Precisions don't mix too well which I find hard to believe. I am trying to get a smooth, warm but balanced tone but at the moment it seems to be a bit all over the place. I am even considering trying flats as well as a Jazz bass but as my main bass is a Precision I would like to get this to work first. Anyone have any advice or can share their setup?
How loud are you playing? A small box will sound boxy(!) when driven hard.

I know it's been mentioned a million times before, but checking the serial number with the retailer, and SWR to see if it'll run correctly at 240v would go a long way to sorting this.

Now Geester's chipped in, it's a good time to draw a line under this one I reckon.
