  1. I don’t mind it as an assistant to mundane, repetitive tasks. But… as a replacement for human creativity, or emotion? F that, with bells on. I absolutely detest it. It’s an inevitable development in technology, but one which opens a miserable new chapter.
  2. That's good news 🙂
  3. That’s a lot of weight to save when it’s out at the headstock end.
  4. What a rhythm section. Can you imagine being stuck in a lift with the singer, though? I'd have to claw through metal with my bare hands.
  5. I thought Resos were a straight swap? Great tuners, btw.
  6. No, I did too.
  7. Or Ian Faith, but it’s probably for the best.
  8. I'm not worried. Everything this lot do is great (see also A Mighty Wind, Bet in Show).
  9. The newer ones have a mid control. I prefer the original pre.
  10. I’ve used these amps constantly, week-in-week-out for about 7 years, never had problems like this. OP - I can send you a schematic if you need one.
  11. North of Newcastle? Dave Coates is your man. He's on FB.
  12. ^^^ Wot he sez
  13. Beautiful!
  14. Holy cow.
  15. Thread from the dead. I installed one in my '71 P yesterday (original pickup has been rewound, and lacked... something). Installation was relatively straightforward. I had to file the pickup lugs a bit to fit them through the pickguard, but apart from that it was plain sailing. Tone-wise... night and day. Very clear, very defined. I'll know more once I've gigged it.

  17. In the nicest possible way, I think most of the people following this thread are probably wishing you'd follow your own advice ^^^^
  18. Yep, everyone needs a Paddington.
  19. Last night's set-up. Same as it's been for years.
  20. My chambered Jake’s were / are around 7.2lbs… They balance perfectly, but I did spec Hipshot Ultralites.
  21. Handbox R-400. Same sort of vibe, but more 'immediate'.
  22. There was a time when guitar shops were also a place just to hang around. I can't imagine how much popular music has been influenced by people hanging out on Denmark Street, for example.
  23. When I was a young pup, I got a gig with a band who I was a long-time fan of. Knew the songs inside-out already, so I was clearly going to nail it. After the first song, the drummer politely says 'that was nice, but can you play about half the notes next time?' OK... I can do that. Another run through. 'Better. Now play half of what you just played.' And he was right.
  24. Wrongly. I was just quoting you..! I was just genuinely curious as to why it would annoy you.
