  1. Understood. From my perspective it's not limited to singers. Clicks, for example. I get that drummers might need to use one for practical purposes, to sync a production, to enable tracking, or just because that's the feel that's required. But there's kind of an assumption there that the dummer can keep time in the first place. Guitarist using a harmoniser? Same as a above. It's a colour. And, believe me, as a non-guitarist, it wouldn't help if I played it. I'm man enough to admit I'm now in the Tommy Saxondale 'dinosaur' category. I was brought up in an environment where people would get together to sing and play, and the joy would come from the human element of it, and everyone being responsible for their own input. Those moments seem less and less important these days, but time marches on (perfectly on the beat).
  2. If that was a response to one of my earlier comments, it’s not a very good one 😄
  3. No, the old way was to sing it right in the first place (or drop in… but still sing it right.)
  4. Just sing it right in the first place. Lazy buggers.
  5. Here’s a bit without autotune (or double bass, for that matter), just gathered around a mic like the old days.
  6. Jesus... I hope they've got enough 50p's to feed the Autotune meter. Back to the OP.. palm-mute a P, stick with R 5 R 5, a few walk-ups and downs, pull out the odd R 5 5 for dramatic effect, and have fun.
  7. Rather than C&P, you can just link across. It's not really fair to nick their content.
  8. I still say the one by the two ice skaters is the definitive version.
  9. But… this is an auction. Anything could happen to the price before it ends..?
  10. He was off them again from Hemispheres, I think..?
  11. I'm not sure Ampeg heads have ever been at the core of his tone..? I know he used them on Counterparts, but apart from that... I have to say that IMO his tone in latter years was a fizzy mess.
  12. Just watching this now, and at 2:28 the guy completely misses the feel of the part, i.e. what's so Geddy about it. I'll persevere.
  13. If it’s anything like the RH450, then IMO it’ll sound like someone slapping a wet rag off a wall, only slightly louder* *Apologies to RH450 fans, but I hated mine.
  14. Hellooooooo lovely! (The bass, not you. Although I'm sure you're a thoroughly decent chap.) GLWTS.
  15. Is there not a risk of the bridge pup being overwhelmed? There’s going to be a massive difference in the amount of string movement....
  16. I would love to listen, but all I can hear is what sounds like hundreds of bass guitars being launched down a staircase in quick succession.
  17. I don't know what's worse - the daft glove, or the bizarrely out-of-time bass part being played over the intro ditty, or the bass being reviewed
  18. When I think of Sadowsky now, I think ‘Crap QC’. I’m sure that’s not what Roger had in mind. Poor bugger.
  19. Yeah, I was told it was the key that would unlock the door to everything. I actually started a thread a while ago asking what the point of it was, and as I recall I didn't get a solid answer 😄 Appreciate it's only one aspect, though.
  20. I tried learning the circle of fifths once, as recommended by a learned friend. Gave up after a while 'cos I wasn't quite sure what the point of it was. Different strokes, and all that.
  21. I've owned the M-Pulse 600 and the Walkabout - both great heads. IME/O, they don't get 'that' tone.
  22. To regurgitate a post I made earlier: Hybrid head ≠ Tube head
