  1. Ahem... Handbox R-400.
  2. I could be mischievous and say in that case it was the ‘decent ear’ bit that didn’t meet the criteria, but I won’t 😄
  3. Out of curiosity - why did you have to tune the vocal? Was it a lack of time, or effort? Or was the singer lacking in actual talent?
  4. Dave Wilson. Good enough for Mark Knopfler…
  5. Gah! We're stuck in a time machine! Time for...
  6. The Brian Johnson one is a treat.
  7. Jamerson and Babbit would like a quiet word…
  8. Just listened to that - it’s painful. Love the way the put it front-and-centre of the interview. That’ll teach her.
  9. Ah yes - I remember now.
  10. Ah, my main head is the A/B one.
  11. Thank you 🙂 I've never used an outboard compressor in my little signal chain. So if I'm down the Dog'n'Duck without PA support, it is what it is, and people seem to like it. If there's a PA, it'll undoubtedly get compressed and that's fine. Gernerally speaking I'll DI from my amp, but at bigger gigs I'll go Bass > DI box > amp, so if something breaks, it ain't my fault 😄
  12. Remind me… what did he say about Croz..?
  13. There’s an optical limiter (not sure if that’s what you’re referring to) but I rarely - if ever - hit that limit. That said, regardless of head, I’ve never knowingly used compression in a backline-only situation.
  14. I've never used one down the Dog'n'Duck, and a no point have I thought I'd need one.
  15. So at the time of typing, you had heard of her..? 😄
  16. It’ll take you two seconds to Google her…!
  17. It’s a shame when the likes of Alison Krause become obsessed with it.
  18. I doubt this will be a surprise to anyone on BC…
  19. Understood. From my perspective it's not limited to singers. Clicks, for example. I get that drummers might need to use one for practical purposes, to sync a production, to enable tracking, or just because that's the feel that's required. But there's kind of an assumption there that the dummer can keep time in the first place. Guitarist using a harmoniser? Same as a above. It's a colour. And, believe me, as a non-guitarist, it wouldn't help if I played it. I'm man enough to admit I'm now in the Tommy Saxondale 'dinosaur' category. I was brought up in an environment where people would get together to sing and play, and the joy would come from the human element of it, and everyone being responsible for their own input. Those moments seem less and less important these days, but time marches on (perfectly on the beat).
  20. If that was a response to one of my earlier comments, it’s not a very good one 😄
  21. No, the old way was to sing it right in the first place (or drop in… but still sing it right.)
  22. Just sing it right in the first place. Lazy buggers.
  23. Here’s a bit without autotune (or double bass, for that matter), just gathered around a mic like the old days.
  24. Hate it, unless it’s used for effect.
  25. Jesus... I hope they've got enough 50p's to feed the Autotune meter. Back to the OP.. palm-mute a P, stick with R 5 R 5, a few walk-ups and downs, pull out the odd R 5 5 for dramatic effect, and have fun.
