    I mean... if it really floats your boat, you can similarly-spec this for about £1300 from Maruszczyk. ..and if you ask nicely, I'm sure they'll dial down the Trumpiness of the vintage tint.

    I feel sorry for the poor copywriter in their marketing department who has to repeatedly concoct something other than 'It's another Precision' every time one of these is released. The thing is, I get that it's Fender and they can't stray too far from the formula, but why do come up with variants that are either hideous or dull?

    Truth is, it's a gamble whatever you buy. Some basses are great, some aren't.

    ...or a particular type of lampshade I used to own, which when heated too much by the bulb absolutely stank like a sweating kipper. It took us months to work out where it was coming from.

    I measure a business by what it does to put things right when things go wrong. I don’t think they really got a chance in this instance.

    Years ago I had a special edition '57RI Precision in Inca Silver, with an anodised gold guard. It looked totally sweet. I wish I'd kept it. Or taken a photo of it, even.
