  1. Yep, it should have been on, and Tony’s electric piano ramble should have been cut from Yout Own Special Way. It’s a great song otherwise (although it works on the live version with the string section)
  2. Nursery Cryme is the first Genesis album I heard. Wind and Wuthering is the best. Fly By Night was the first Rush album I heard. Permanent Waves is the best.
  3. I really like it. It's a bit of a WYWH / Animals fusion.
  4. Ironically, Rog's last solo album is probably the most Floyd-y sounding record made by any of them since he left, including Pink Floyd 😄
  5. I don’t think FBN was a major commercial success as per the OP, though 🙂
  6. Yep, Roger has said that WYWH was the last time PF wrote & recorded as a band.
  7. Cool... definitely check it out. It's got the old-school tone circuit and everything.
  8. Yeah, it's heavy going. Marvellous, though.
  9. Yeah, true. He saved them for his first two solo albums, which are packed with absolute bangers. Oh, wait... 😄
  10. Of course CN is a classic, but almost the entire four sides around it - musically, lyrically and conceptually - came from Roger's brain. I don't think you can blame him for not wanting to spend much time on democracy at that point. The same for Animals, the same for The Final Cut (which I like). Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge DG fan, but he just didn't seem to be writing around then (or much since, for that matter).
  11. Roger was far and away the main writer, especially later in the 70s. I can understand why he wasn't interested in anything other than his way of doing things.
  12. Yeah, I can get behind that. More examples... Rush: Moving Pictures > Signals Genesis: A Trick of the Tail > Wind & Wuthering Lindisfarne: Fog on the Tyne > Dingly Dell Neil Young: Harvest > On the Beach Eagles: Hotel California > Long Run Fleetwood Mac: Rumours > Tusk
  13. Ah - that's the LPB colour I was aiming for (it's a real '66!). Mojo-wise, it has a while to go yet 🙂
  14. FWIW the Green Valley Metallic they used for my Jake (the first one in that colour, I believe) is a Fiat colour 😄 The idea was to mimic the old tobacco-stained LPB.
  15. Yeah, I'd like to see them review their colours. Some are a bit 'nearly but not quite'.
  16. Here's a lockdown vid from another band wot I'm in.
  17. It's kind-of another voice to the amp, I think. Leszek sent me this when I asked him about it a while ago:
  18. I very rarely do, but I would reduce the mids by using the contour knob. Everything is nicely controlled.
  19. Yep, if you're happy plugging straight in that'll work.
  20. The ID4 only has one mic input, I think. The other is a jack input. I went with the EVO 4 in the end. I can't fault it performance-wise, but I do miss the form factor and build quality of the Focusrite stuff.
