The best playing I have ever actually seen, ie witnessed first hand, was Alain Caron playing with Mike Stern. My god, he was blistering. Fantastic pocket playing and incredible soloing -- the only guy ive seen whose solos were so melodic, i found myself whistling their tunes on the way home. And he made it look soooooo easy. And he was having fun.

This was probably the same tour I saw him with Mike Stern and Didier Lockwood, fantastic flowing melodic playing from all, one of the best nights for me.

If you tried the Mikro, how would you compare the two?

I only compared them online :) , liked the look of the Mikro, amongst others I may add, one of my things is looking at gear online, that's why I have 7 basses, banjo, 2 ukeleles, and am now considering one of these.

The Mikro has a mahogany body but it's much slimmer with deeper cuts and chamfered forearm rest.

I did look favourably at the Mikro at the time, but the skinflint in me won and I went for the cheapie.

Yep, I looked at those too but went for the Ibanez cos it looked lighter and got so many enthusiastic reviews. Glad to hear that you like yours.

I do like my minibass but I suspect your'e right re the Ibanez being lighter, I also have a bronco and it's heavier than that.

My Mission Cyrus 1 is 30watts and loud enough (and some) for the house.

BTW, bought a pair JR-149 a couple of weeks ago. Wow, what a difference from my old Monitor Audio speakers.

Nice wee speakers there gadgie, always fancied a pair myself but I now have Tannoy Cheviot's which I'm very happy with.

I knocked over three pints of the singers Guinness. Luckily he thought it was somebody in the crowd. I cant repeat what he was shouting at the audience. He is very protective of his Guinness...

Lucky you only knocked three over, did he have plenty more ? :)

  7. Both me and a mate have bought Black and Tort versions of this bass and we are blown away, for the price we paid (£69+4.99 post) it's certainly a bargain.
Nice player right out of the box, hot pickups/nice sound, 3 ply p/guard, balances well, no neck dive (prob the short neck helps here), as stated before the top end of the fretboard is a wee bit harder to reach compared to my other short scalers (a Bronco and a Stagg J/B style).
For fit and finish this bass beats the others mentioned into a cocked hat, it's that good.
Another strange thing is, the Bronco is a 30" scale and has 20 frets, the J&D is 29" scale and has 21 frets, what's all that about then? :)
We bought our basses from DV247, delivered in 3 days.
