Give me this and and a GUS bass and I'm in hog-heaven. Oh and maybe a few more other non-F basses, like the Guild b-301..... I assume you ain't a Bongo fan either Each to their own.
2. Thanks for all your info OutToPlayJazz. I'm a noob to this instrument and I've been addicted to my Stagg EUB since I got it 3 months ago, to the point where I have a similar budget to the OP and a hankering to dip my toe in the world of the big boys. Many thanks to you and all the others who replied.
3. Nice to see someone 'de-lurking' , welcome buddy.
4. .... or stay away from the For Sale section, can be a very dangerous place for your wallet ! Oh and stay away from the build section, unless you want to be tempted by Prosebasses latest creations Welcome buddy.
5. Ok, I have an 80's Aria ProII-SLB I dont use much if you fancy a trade, cash your way of course. I'm in the North West so I can drive over or jump on a train.
6.
Don't be fooled. Its crap. Captain Smith and Pochahontas? What the hell is THAT all about
I meant great as in 'no guitards/keys/horns '. Ignore the lyrics ( Captain Smith and Pochahontas? not exactly a classic love story I suppose ) everything else is great The original drum n bass ?
7. Have a bump on me, I love the look and spec of this, just can't afford it at the moment
8.
call me every name under the sun I don't care I love ELO
I loved ELO in their earlier albums (10538 Overture still sounds superb) but got bored with Lynnes production later on, so you wont find me calling you ! Once I've got to grips a little better with my EUB (maybe 'proper' DB soon) I want to have a go at some of the Ska etc. you mention.
Hahah. I did My Baby and Fever (not to a high standard I might add). I feel like I should try this Moon Over Bourbon Street just so we're on level pegging
Standards ? No-one mentioned standards ! Race you to A Boy Named Sue , first to fsck it up wins
9. Been lurking on this thread coz I was thinking of posting the same question so just to say a huge thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Ticked My Baby Just Cares for Me and Moon Over Bourbon Street off the list now working my way through Fever and realising what a fscking great song it is ! Many thanks ladies 'n' gents.
10. Welcome buddy, only a month on bass ? Probably more advanced than me then Oh and get me a source of that gorgeous white Opporto
11. Any chance of pics ?
12. Welcome to the forum, loads of info here so get stuck in, just stay away from the Market Place......
13.
I am yet another hopeless case of an electric guitarist masquerading as an occasional bassist
I'm an incompetent masquerading as errrr ... incompetent, one day this lot will find out and boot me off here ! Welcome mate
14. Saw this on FleaBay and wondered how much it's worth. I'm tempted to have a punt but don't know what kind of quality Rossetti produced for the schools market. Any thoughts ? Hello!

Welcome to the only forum that hasn't figured out how crap I am, its that friendly
16. FFS... its still that most heinous of crimes against humanity... its still a BANJO !! Yeah I'm not a fan
17. otherwise why is it only the latter part of the post going missing? It's the only explanation, no matter how unpleasant it may seem !
18.
Meanwhile I do have GAS for other musical things. The GAS potential for harmonica gear is huge
An oxymoron surely ? Harmonicas (along with banjos) are a torture instrument
19. Have these gone ?
20.
It was awful.
It still is awful, 99 beer tokens for something pulled from a skip (where it belongs) is extracting the urine.
21. Looks like a Burns Marquee Bass possibly, dunno what the new price is tho. 250 sovs for a trip down memory lane ? Nah. On the other hand it looks quite nice and doesn't have the letter F on the headstock...
22.
Classicists aside, that would have to be my vote. Though I enjoy the work of many of the names mentioned so far and I don't even much like Zappa's stuff.
True, I appreciate Zappa but he doesnt dig deep into my soul even though I can enjoy the 'musical' sides of his talent. If I want to be moved then Vaughan Williams or Sibelius press the button for me,whether they are geniuses are for this crowd to decide
23. My 2c's worth: Take out my obvious classical faves (Sibelius, Vaughn Williams, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven) and I would have to suggest Neil Young (always ploughed his own furrow and inspired a grunge generation) and Miles Davies, simply because he was so good for so long. Personally I feel the term genius should only be awarded by later generations.
24. First bass was a borrowed Burns Bison that the owner eventually decided I should either buy or hand back. Handed it back and spent £80 on a Jap crap Les Paul bass and added an HH IC100s top to an unknown 4X12 200W cab. This was back in about 74'ish, the HH is sadly gone and the cab was also sold on but my sweet little LP copy bass is still with me. Do a search in the 'Gear Porn' thread for 'Readers Wives' to see pics.
25. I like what they are doing but..... (bites lip) they need a piano player to fill the sound out and take some of the pressure off the guitard. A good/sympathetic pianist would round the sound out nicely. Yeah, I am thinking Chick Corea stylee on this
