1. In the past I've cut two thin strips of Velcro and stuck them to the rubber on the longest edges so as not to damage the label. You don't need much of the heavy duty stuff to stick them down.
2. From what I've had in the past the T-rex Bass Juice is very smooth and creamy, it has a mix knob so you can blend the distorted and clean signal and it worked well with my Stingray. The Fulltone Bass Drive is another good one, I miss having one, may have to buy another. Lots of options.
3. Homebase will do heavy duty Velcro, if you haven't been already.
4.
The Precision with flats/rounds is down to personal preference & how you want to sit in the mix, really. I downloaded the live John Mayer Trio album the other day (with Pino on bass) & his Precision on flats sounds great on the busier tracks, but on the slow blues numbers, it's too flat and dead sounding for my tastes. I have my AV 62 on DR FatBeams. Lovely sound.
I really like that John Mayer album. My '78 P is on Sunbeams. Also very nice.
5. I think tonally yes, but it's totally down to players preference. I've had flats on my Precision in the past. I currently have rounds on it. Still can't make my mind up as to which I prefer.
6. These are fantastic basses, if I had a reason to get a second......
7.
The 50's reissue P is now on hold for me! God that feels good!
Good job, and happy 18th!
8. Check out the '75 RI Jap Jazz Tredders is selling. Lovely
9. I'd be looking at a Jap or Mex Fender as well.
10.
we're both on the same wave lenght! lol ...yeah i want to change to a 4x10 from 2 12's. did you try out the 4x10 mesa? how was the mesa???
I didn't try the Mesa, I wanted a 4ohm cab and the Mesa was 8ohm. I would have liked to but there were a couple of other guys waiting and after playing through the Berg it was game over.
11.
Was that the Bass Direct effect? I went in there on Friday to buy an AE410. I refused to pick up a Roscoe, just in case I couldn't put it down, but I very, very nearly walked out with an MTD635!! That place is not good for you!
Was indeed. Mark knew what I wanted before I did.
12.
ah cool! cheers for the advice andy! I think a mesa is looking more likely. I read somewhere that the orange obc has a horn which you can't adjust.
I bought a new 4x10 at the weekend. I went with the intention to buy Mesa.... I walked out with a Berg.
13. I've just gone back to a 4x10 for my big rig after having 2 12" cabs.
14. I'm liking the black on that, but it's your call.
15. Between Clarky and yourself, you're not setting a good example for the rest of us at the moment.
16. Perfect partner for this.
17. Bargain. I'm have problems resisting the 400+ on there at the moment.
18. Loads of opinions here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=james+johnston
19. I had an Encore Precision and a Trace Elliot Boxer 30. I think I paid £70 for the bass and however much the amp was new back in........ 96? I still have the bass although now it's sporting a fretless neck.
20. This is my favourite Shuker on BC. Shame I can't afford it right now. Back to the top.
21. Write a review once you've got to grips with it. I'd love to know a BCers view on the Classic Series. I'd very much like a Sterling.
22. I had a 715SMC which I bought new in 97. I thought it was a great amp, didn't give me any problems. Sold it to a friend last year.
23. With my old amp I always had a SansAmp on. With my Mesa I don't use it at all. I still take it with me now for when I'm not using my amp. Cracking pedal.
24. 25s. I think I could have got away with 15s but I wanted to play it safe. My friend uses 9s but I felt it was better to be slightly over protected.
25.
Well, just back from the hearing test - hearing is good but I have minor 4000hz damage in my left ear which is almost definitely from the drummer's ride cymbal. ER custom plugs ordered, here in 4-6 weeks now all I have to do is confirm the colour I want.
Getting custom plugs is one of the best purchases I've made. Good investment, Joe.
