Here's my mean looking devil (s), an AH300 and a 1048H cab. The head is 20 years old according to the label inside, it has a plastic case which I've not seen before. I'm not sure how old the cab is. They sound amazing together. I used Trace elliot for years from the late 80's to the early 90's when I switched to SWR (I was gigging with bands when I was 15 to buy stuff, I used to have to hide from entertainment secretaries and stewards in clubs 'coz I was underage lol). I've spent a fortune over the last 10 years or so, buying gear by Epifani, Aguilar, Bergantino, EBS etc. This beats them all. How come you can spend over a thousand pounds on an amp, only to be driven mad by the incessant whirring of some cheap chinese made fans ?. The fan in this is almost totally silent, did I mention that it's 20 years old ? I want to get another 4x10 the same and a 2x10 for smaller gigs.
I had one of those that was made in '91, head case and all. Cracking amp. I really miss not having a 4x10 now as well.

In the covers bands: Dakota - Stereophonics Single Ladies - Beyonce 1999 - Prince Boys and Girls - Pixie Lott Anything by Kings of Leon Anything by Oasis Broken Heels - Alexandra Burke - we haven't played this one live yet but I'm already sick of it. I'm going to leave it at that, but I could keep going.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to body shapes, but I quite like that. Particularly like the fret markers on the side of the neck, nice attention to detail.
Ha. usually the way. More Sinch than Chevelle… All good though. 2 of my Fav's
Yeah I can see what you mean. Thanks for the nice comment as well. I think Reuben is our biggest influence, in all but vocal style.

Wow, that amp is so shiny you can just about see it's Trace Elliot roots shining through.
I hear lots of Sinch and Chevelle in the sound
I'll have to check those two out, never heard of them.
The pink pedal is an FX Doctor Cease Transmission. It's great fun, makes some really stupid noises, and it's plugged into the second input on the M9.
That certainly looks like it ticks the boxes when you were looking for options in that stupid noise pedal thread a while back.

I'm in a few covers/function bands. All with cringe worth names. My originals band is Without Warrant. There's a link to our myspace below. We're a 3 piece currently on hold as our singer/guitarist is in the land of Oz. Parts of our songs sound like Reuben, parts like Deftones, parts like Silverchair and parts like Muse. 'An Open Space' and 'A Parting Shot' are my favourite. Edit: Only doing this to add an inbound link to my function band site to help with SEO as per OGs website thread Lady M | Wedding, Party and Functions band | Sussex & South East

I'm not too fussed. I like buying second hand because you obviously save a few pennies. There are a lot of guys on here who really take care of their instruments so you can get a second hand bass in as-new condition. The fact that I'm not the first owner doesn't really bother me. There was a post on here a while back which was something like: you never really own a bass, you just look after it for the next person. I'm not a big fan of the fake relic jobs either.

Reminds me of the Lakland Skyline Decade.

I've owned Jazzes made in all 3 countries. They've all been pretty good. The only one I have left is a Jap. still wouldn't mind trying a US '75 RI though.

Would you play a style thats not to your taste ?
harvey1-8 replied to thunderbird13's topic in General Discussion
I don't really enjoy playing 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce, it has a bass line that's almost non-existant and it's not the style of music that I like. There are quite a few other songs that I don't enjoy playing in the set list as well. But the other people in the 2 function bands I play in are all wicked, I love playing bass, I love gigging and I'm a better bass player because of it. So the pros out-weigh the cons. -
Remembering which way intonation goes
harvey1-8 replied to Stylon Pilson's topic in General Discussion
Flat Fret Forward is how I remember it. -
Buy it. If you find you're not using one of them you could convert it into a canoe. Then paddle down to Brighton, steal 51m0ns Berg IP cabs and then paddle back home.

I'm not a fan either, like that Warwick, I don't the way the body comes half way up the neck on most single cuts. I like the G&L ASAT, but that's it.
-
I saw Thrice play at Brixton 4 or 5 years ago. Pretty sure he was using a Warwick at that gig. EDIT: Thinking about it, it may have been the Coheed bass player.
I would say go for the 760FL set 43-104 - they should feel close enough to the standard and are more regularly available.
I've never spotted those. Can't see the wood for the trees when it comes to strings.
-
Where is the best place to buy La Bellas from? String Busters have them but they never seem to have standard flatwound 45-105 in stock. If they do it's either short scale or extra long scale.
I do it when playing drums and it gets really painful. Any solutions would be appreciated. I tried chewing gum but still got the same ache and managed to swallow it once.

This thread <- sponsored by Wrigley's. Or Hubba Bubba if you're a big kid like me.
There's a Foo Fighters video where Taylor is blowing bubbles with bubble gum. He looks very relaxed doing it.

Chew gum. It'll help you concentrate, keep time, and stop you from clenching your jaw.

I'd like a James Johnston Squire Jazz. Can't justify buying one new.

My tutor had a 60s Precision in the classic 3 colour sunburst, tortoise shell, rosewood. He also had a 60s Strat in white, white, maple. I still want both of those instruments.

I have a 2EQ and I run the bass on full boost with the treble cut back about a quarter, so pretty much the same setting as yours. That's my prefered tone for the stingray. I think it's a fantastic tone. Thanks for taking the time to do some more excellent clips.

I can't believe I missed that. I usually search for 'Sovtek' on ebay once a week.
