1. The only amp I've bought blind is my current Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout. Having said that I played through a Mesa M-Pulse 600 at a gig before hand and loved it, so I was quite confident in the purchase. I've only bought one bass blind and I didn't get on with it.
2. Bloody Nora, this thread needs another bass! How about alanbass1's '62 Precission? Yes please.
3.
Hey guys, Can you give me some links to UKs guitarforums?
I think shortscale is mostly UK based. I like it.
4. Back on topic you say? This one: Who ended up with it when it was for sale?
5. Sods Law. I waited and waited for one of these to come up for sale second hand. Last week I though 'f*** it, I'll order one new'. Always the way. Best of luck with the sale.
6. Here's a recent thread discussing the T-Bird, should make for some good reading.
7.
Perhaps you should consult your GP and get a prescription for a bass 'substitute'
I hope you don't mean a guitar?
8.
It's beginning to freak me out a little.
Close your eyes, count to a hundred and you'll be fine.
9. 'On The Sun' by The Black Seeds.
10. Rich bought a pedal from me. He's a gentleman and a pleasure to do business with. Thank again, Rich. Alex.
11. I agree with Burrito on the riff part. Playing the same riff on the different settings really does give a better idea of how the amp sounds. I'm not watching it to be impressed by the bassist, I'm watching it to get a no BS demo of the amp. Again, good effort.
12.
Yeah! I had to learn that one for an audition a few years ago. Great groove and cool bass part, but as you say - harder than it sounds!!
That main part is quite similar to 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo.
13. I bought a cover for my amp from Derrick. By far the quickest transaction I've done on BC. Much appreciated. Alex.
14. Andy bought a pedal from me. A pleasure selling to him.
15. I quite like that finish. I think the bass player from Sliverchair had a silver flake G&L something-or-other at one time.
16.
Excellent job. Seems the distortion kicks from a very low gain setting? Odd question, but do these amps come with a cover? Cheers Gareth
Yes, he says so in the video.
17. Really good video mate. Great demo of the amp. I'd like to hear it with a passive bass but that's just me splitting hairs.
18.
Agreed. Anyone that is pointed out errors in an eBay listing yet does not update the details is not trustworthy IMHO. I am still after a 70s Jazz but this definitely ain't the one!
Keep looking Clarky. There's one out there for you somewhere.
19. Sing it back - Moloko. Harder then I first thought.
20.
Again, not the best photos - just my rubbish phone still
That looks wicked Finbar. Sure to turn a few heads. I'd love to hear any of these in this thread.
21. Both items now off to new homes. I have a pan pot that came out of a Sadowsky pre-amp set. I'm not charging for it, so if you would like it; drop me a PM and I'll stick it in the post. Simple. I'm sure it can be of use to someone on BC. I have a set of Fender US Jazz Deluxe pick-ups and preamp that are sat around doing nothing. They came out of a 1999 USA Fender Jazz Deluxe. It's wired master volume, pan pot, stacked treble and bass boost/cut and mid boost/cut. To my knowledge everything is present and correct. What I know about pick-ups and pre amps I could write on the back of a postage stamp so I don't really know how else to pitch this. I have no idea what they're worth. I'll start with SOLD (£50) posted and if anyone thinks that is way off please feel free to PM me. Cheers, Alex.
22. Here's a gut shot of my old amp. Nothing fancy going on here.
23. Some lovely Fenders you have there. I especially like the 51RI.
