I can't comment on using it with bass but for acoustic guitar they're amazing. I'll see if I can find out if a bass will cause any damage from a friend.
Good stuff, I always run my delay into phaser, so each individual repeat hits teh phaser on a different part of its cycle.
The guitarist in my band uses it as well to great effect. Chect out the song An Open Space on my bands myspace (link in my sig) for some delayed phaser goodness. He uses EHX pedals but it's all one and the same.

I'm a huge Mars Volta fan but I've never thought about the bass tone. I will have a listen *grabs iPod*.

Fender Jazz Replacement Pickguards - where in UK?

Thanks for all the comments guys. The finish is stunning, the sound is amazing (the only bass I own that I play straight into the amp without my sansamp between) and as CK said "for a 18 year old bass, its in remarkably good nick". The ding I have photoed is the only cosmetic issue. I know not shipping/posting the bass limits the number of potential buyers but I don't want to risk it. Like I said in the original post I've had some bad experiences in the past with posting expensive large items. I think we'll all agree that a broken bass is a waste. Like many, I have a one in one out policy with basses and guitars, and at the moment I'm starting to think I should hang on to this and sell one of my guitars instead. I've had some interest though so I'll see those through and if it doesn't sell then I'm thinking I'll hang on to it. Thanks, Alex.

I do love the colour.
Heh, I'm in the Gibson Little League with my Epiphone Les Paul Standard bass. But I love it, mostly the neck, but also the fact that it is quite unusual to see one out and about. I didn't love the stock pickups though, so I put some EMG-HBs in it I can't leave a bass alone.
How wide is the neck on the Les Paul basses?
I accept the comments about MIA Fenders being in the same price bracket as an MIA Gibson. What I really meant was there's no equivalent (except the IV) to the good MIJ Fenders you can get for ~£400-£500. Not that Gibson didn't make them, just they were badged Epiphone.
My MIJ Jazz is a lot nicer to play and is built to a higher quality than my friends Epiphone Thunderbird. So I certainly agree with you there. I do enjoy playing my Thunderbird more though and I find that the Gibson build quality is excellent. I also think i get some much needed cool points from playing a Thunderbird. I own and love both Jazz and Precision basses but you do see so many about, still cracking basses none the less.

eBay provides more comedy gold then an episode of aunties bloomers.

The Carbon Copy is a great pedal, for it's size I don't think it can be beaten. I have a MXR Phase 90 next in the chain after mine for even more fun.

I have the Series 6 AH300 head and 4X10" cab and it really is a great sounding amp, I can't imagine the combo is much different. £300 sounds like a reasonable price for what you get.

I don't know the first thing about Alembic but I can't personally justify 5k on an instrument.

Fender Jazz Replacement Pickguards - where in UK?
harvey1-8 replied to cockbongo's topic in Accessories and Misc
Ask at your local Fender dealer and see if they can order one in for you. A friend of mine did it this way, I think he paid around £30 or £40 for it though. I'm sure someone here could recommend a cheaper alternative. I'd be interested in what anyone else can put forward as I'm thinking of getting a replacement an can only think of eBay for online sale. -
Certainly some nifty camera work going on. I reckon it’s going to be a bit of a mess and I agree that it’s not worth the grand the seller’s look for.

Is your bass gear better than you are?

I've never really thought about it. But I can say that my Japanese Jazz gets gigged as much as my more expensive basses. -
The problem is a good Gibson will cost you twice as much as an equally good Fender.
I was in GAK at the weekend and they were asking £1100 for a MIA Standard Jazz. I thought that was a little crazy and makes Gibsons seem a little less expensive. Regardless I think the extra cost is justified in the manufacturing process. If you haven't been to Gibson.com yet, go and check out their section on manufacturing. Recently I got a Gibson Les Paul Junior for £399 new, that has to be one of the cheapest American made guitars around? I love my Thunderbird. I got it off ebay for under £800, drove to Essex to pick it up, met the guy and had a bit of a play. It was a complete impulse buy and I'd never played one before. Now, I wouldn't be without it. A lot of people comment on the neck dive which is a relevant point, but I tend have my left hand in contact with the neck when playing and this some how seems to counteract the neck dive. evilLordJuju, the bass in your sig is stunning.

I bought this bass from Andertons a few years back. Apparently a guy had traded it in for a Warwick a day or two before. Since I've owned her she's seen a few gigs and been looked after well. I had her professionally set-up about 2 years ago by a chap called Graham in Washington, West Sussex. As a result the action is great and she's a joy to play. I love the colour of this bass and she's in great condition. Unfortunately I'm just not using her. I've never really got on with the neck, I learnt to play on a Jazz and the StingRay neck has always felt uncomfortably wide for my hand. I've looked over the bass really thoroughly and can only find the one ding which I have tried to take a good quality photo of. She's such a good looking bass I'm a little hesitant to sell her but it's a waste to leave her shut in the case. I want to get another active bass and another jazz so I'm looking to replace her with a USA Fender Jazz Deluxe, either in red, white or black with a rosewood fingerboard. This is the only trade I would consider. Other wise I'm looking for SOLD so I can take a punt on one of the Jazz Deluxe' that are already for sale on this forum. The strap in the case isn't included in the sale, sorry. I emailed Music Man customer service to find out the date of manufacture which is: 5/6/91. I believe it's a honey sunburst (although I could be wrong) and 2 band EQ. She came with a non-music man hard case and she'll leave in the same case. I live in the Horsham area of West Sussex and anyone is more than welcome to come and have a play. I've had carbon bicycle frames couriered to me in the past only to show up broken or cracked. Carbon's a little difficult to repair. As such I'm reluctant to post or ship the bass. I know this limits the number of people who could buy it but I am willing to travel a fair distance to met halfway. If you're interested but live quite far from Sussex send me a PM or leave a message and we'll see if we can work something out. On a separate note I will not put this on eBay. If it doesn't sell on here then I will trade her in at a music shop for what I would like. Thanks, Alex. EDIT: Quick edit for more pictures and a couple of spelling mistakes. EDIT 2: New pictures. I've been asked the same questions on a couple of occasions so I'll put a little more info here. The bass weighs 4Kg (8.8 pounds). I find it a comfortable weight for 2-3 hours but any more and I start to feel it in my shoulder. I guess I should use a wider strap to spread the load. The bass is all original, I had this confirmed when I had it set-up a while back. The case is not a MusicMan hard case but it's the one I received when I got the bass. I'm not sure if MusicMan basses came with a MusicMan branded hard case back in 91 (maybe some one on the forum knows?) so I can't say if there ever was one. The case I have for the StingRay is included in the sale. If anyone else has a question please don't hesitate to PM me or leave a message bellow. I'm still looking for SOLD so I can afford to buy one of the other basses advertised on the forum. Thanks again, Alex.
Yeah I think I would prefer cash than the trade Im perfectly happy to wait for you to have a go at selling it, im sure we can work something out
That's cool. Don't turn down any offers you get in the mean time as it may take a while to sell.
