I have a Steinberger fretless bass and I can’t find out the model. It’s been refinished and fitted with EMG electronics. I saw a XQSTD5 for sale and it looks very similar, except neck bolt arrangement is different.
Any help is appreciated!
Anyone else own a 48?
I acquired a heavy relic one. Looks great and sounds huge, but not getting on with the comfort under my right forearm. Shame because it’s plekd, and has a super low action!
Haha I’ve had my share of bass nerds at gigs!
The wood plugs front and back are just to repair wood defects. It’s meant to be experimental so I didn’t want to risk messing up fancy wood.
With the Riviera you can only tune through the body. There’s an anchor inside that rides up or down with the tuning knob on the front. I made a template for the mechanism.
I just picked up headless hardware by Riviera. Great quality, and doesn’t mean you have to compromise your body shape at the back. Good for retrofitting too. Here’s my test bass.
I also had a go at a mk3 clone, but I was more interested in the shape than mimicking the true Wal sound.
But saying that, I did use Walbuckers and Lusithand preamp just out of curiosity. It’s a truly powerful bass for sure with lots of tonal variation on tap
Does anyone own one of these? The cons could be upper fret access and neck dive. Apart from that, is it a great bass? I may be acquiring a heavy relic one blind.
Ok so if the cabs are stacked with the array horiz as it’s meant to be, it still means the four woofers end up in the non preferred arrangement. I assume this won’t matter?
Bill I thought you’d mentioned in the past that four 10’s woofers in the conventional 410 arrangement isn’t as good a 210’s stacked vertical. So with 210 cabs that don’t have a tweeter array, is that the case?
I’ve read many explanations why stacking a pair of 210 cabs vertically projects better than horizontal.
But, will this work ok for a pair of Genzler 210 cabs with the array of teeeters? Shifting the cabs in a vertical position makes the array horizontal.
Nothing wrong with my playing technique. The 5 strings (on the ones I have seen) have been off center, with ample space on the B. Construction or design flaw.
