1. GK amps are great. I used to use my 1001 head with GK cabs, and had the 4-way cables. Works great, but I no longer have the cabs, and just use the head with non GK cabs. It just means the 50w amp on the head is redundant. The cabs crossover and tweeter does the work, and unless you plan to distort your bass, there is no difference to the full GK setup.
2. With my track record for new amps developing faults, I'd definitely buy new from Poptart!
3. Looks like it'll have to go on ebay as I've had 277 visits and no interest Or feel free to make a sensible offer!
4. Bump.. This needs to go, to finance a set of King Cobra UFi's !!
5. It's weighing in at 10.5 to 11 pounds on my bathroon scales. Feels similar in weight to a Stingray 5 I had a while back.
6. Thanks! Halfway thru building it I got tempted back to 4-string, so ended up buying a couple of CIJ Fenders! So unfortunately, this won't be played by me!
7. This was an experiment to try a set of custom made 5-string version of Wizard 84's. Andy hadn't done these in the standard Jazz case before, so these are a bar-type magnet rather than individual pole pieces. So any string spacing is achievable. The body is ash, with an unusual dark flame maple top. Neck is Licensed Fender MM neck that has been lacquered and the frets dressed/polished. The MM necks are great, but they do need a bit of work. All that needs doing is the passive wiring, and a control cover. I'll either finish it or sell a bit cheaper as is. I have installed 5 knobs, in case someone wants to install an active circuit (3-band). But the plan was to wire it as a standard J-Bass with Vol, Vol, Tone. It has a side mounted Neutrik locking jack (like Overwater). As it stands at the moment I have no idea how it sounds! I'm after £500 finished, or £450 as is. Cheers Ian
8. I used to run two UL410s but found 2000w of speakers hard to drive, and the sound was better with just one. The point I'm making is the 410 is a 1000w cab, so unless you're hooking up a monster amp, I'd go with a UL210 with your 15.
9. I've got one of these and they are def worth buying! Dunno how they work. Trickery I think. Have a bummmp
10. Great bass. Dunno why they never really caught on? Is there not many out there? Maybe its the odd headstock? I love them. Haven't they got a hidden hum-cancelling pup between the two pups? Can't remember .
11. Its a shame you don't have a list of what you've got, as I reckon you'd get a huge amount of interest.
12.
Link does not work - probably specific search results.
opps. try this http://www.terralec.co.uk/flight_cases/rac...ags/236_0c.html
13. I keep all my leads, tuner, tools, batteries, etc in a heavy duty case sold by Terallec in Southend. Lots of different sizes, and tough as anything. Check out their website http://www.terralec.co.uk/search_results.asp
14.
Did you get her number? she was obviously quite hung up on you. /gets coat
GGrroooaaannnnnnn
15. So its the 114mm ones for sale? Are they suitable for 5-string? Also can they suit any string spacing? Cheers
16.
Quick question: is that your guitarist's hand down that girl's top? I know bassists are team players but that's ridiculous!
Ahah. I reckon you're right. Or he is the one who hooker her up!
17.
ian, i was a bit concerned when you mentioned 'your g-string', but having seen her...... ....you lucky s*d!
She was quite gifted, if you know what I mean
18.
lol... I had this really drunk American girl do something similar to me. It was slightly embarassing because my sister was there recording it! lol... Can't say I've had an incident involving my G string getting caught on a girl's bra though. Nice one!
So you have an embarrassing video clip you can post here!
19. This girl had a particular liking for bass, and I wasn't complaining. Until she started slithering up and down me whilst I was playing and her bra got gaught on my G-string. We all fell apart and couldn't play! Anyone else had anything 'odd' happen to them?
20.
Ian, your second paragraph mentions a 410RBH then a 210 - which did you use with your 15"?
Hi, I used the 410RBH with the 15. Great combination.
21. Yep, I agree with Mr Ferret. I have a GK1001 head, and I used to have a 114RBH and 410RBH (awesome cabs). I did for a time use the 410RBH on top of a Trace 1x15. I had the 210 connected to the amp using a GK 4-way speakon cable (this ensures the tweeter amp is used) and the Trace with a normal lead connected to the head. Coz its a normal 2-way lead the 50w section of the head isn't connected to this cab. It worked brill. Now I still have the GK1001, but have Aguilar cabs. So I'm not using the tweeter amp, but works same as any other head/cab combination. Ian
