  1. Test fitting the hardware. All good. found some nice aluminum knobs that aren’t too big. I do have some Sadowsky knobs but they looked ridiculous because I have so many controls. I have a mini 3-way toggle to add for single coil/parallel/series switching .
  2. Thanks! I can try doing some sound uploads. Need to figure out the best way to record it!
  3. The majority of you preferred the fingerboard extending to the pickup. So that’s what I did! Also did the fret positions markers
  4. A third option is to match the body wood. In hindsight I could have planned it do the grain matched, like the rear cover. But here is a cap using an offcut. I kept the white stripe theme running though.
  5. Like a Marleaux Diva. I thought about that, but I’d need a stonking piece of ebony to do that! I have the bridge and anchors all figured out. Thinking I’ll stick with original plan and take it to the pickup.
  6. I’m wondering whether I should take the fingerboard to the pickup or not. If I don’t, I’ll put some matching wood on the neck to hide the laminates. What do you guys think?
  7. It’s a shame it has the incorrect number of strings 😆
  8. I had a Progress 5 string and I would say it was the dullest sounding bass I’ve owned! The preamp was too subtle in my opinion. I didn’t want to mess with it, so moved it on.
  9. Nice neat routing there👍
  10. Neck pocket cut and headstock veneer and cap glued on.
  11. I’m experimenting using the Shaper to create a headstock logo. I used a 0.5mm bit and infilled with blue resin. It turned out super crisp!
  12. I still use routers for a lot of operations. I just tried doing my logo and infilling with resin. Looks pretty amazing. Its great for stuff like that.
  13. Looking great! Keep the progress pics coming.
  14. Fingerboard blank made. Next is a scarf joint
  15. Some rear contouring. Needs refining in a few places
  16. It’ll be great for block or custom inlays
  17. I contoured the edges ( by hand!) . I wanted a chamfered look rather than rounding over. Here’s a pic.
  18. Pickup rout, string anchor holes and control holes all done using the Shaper Origin.
  19. Wondering whether to keep it natural or stain darker. Here it is wetted
  20. Control cavity finished. I pre-slotted channels for pickup wire, batter wire and bridge ground before glueing back on.
  21. Yes they are nice. Also the Marleaux Mbass
  22. ha ha ! So have Essex girls not shaken off that reputation? The were responsible for lots of great jokes!!
  23. One of my best amps was a 600SMX. Wish I'd hung on to it, but like most of you I was always looking for new gear! I don't know why all they have to offer now is the Elf. Maybe they have plans for bigger heads??
