  1. FTFY. The Max Guitarstore is 15 minutes from where I live 🙂 The one with the soapbars looks interesting. I like the plain look without a control plate.
  2. When I read the thread title, for a moment I thought you meant the guy who makes these 😆
  3. These were never an export model IIRC. I have never seen a 1972 model before. A proper 72 RI would have a 4-bolt neck joint I suppose, so this is an interesting mixup. Now I wonder what's in the neck pocket of mine 😄 Mine is a JB75-90US as far as I know, with USA-made 1975 RI pickups.
  4. Jackson did signature models of their Rhoads, which was a signature model for Randy Rhoads originally. There's a Christian Andreu Rhoads, the Oli Herbert Rhoads, and there were once the Kevin Bond Rhoads and Matt Tuck Rhoads. Basswise, Lakland once made an Adam Clayton edition of their Darryl Jones model in natural ash with a maple fingerboard with black blocks and bindings.
  5. I was going to say ATK as well. I'm surprised by the 18 mm spacing though. My 1998 ATK305 has 16,5 mm spacing.
  6. Interestingly, the Reddit post has been deleted, and the user account too.
  7. Status S2 Classic. I bought my first one on the internet untested because I loved the looks (bright white, black phenolic fingerboard and white epoxy Roman numeral inlays) and it blew me away in terms of playability, versatility and tonal quality. I was expecting a quirky 80s relic with ditto sounds, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I have since gotten another one too, a 5-string in a black metallic finish that belonged to Bonin-in-the-boneyard of this forum, and it has quickly become my main player.
  8. I like her a lot, as long as she sings in French. Her label made her release (part of?) her debut album in English too for worldwide release, and it sounds really weird that way.
  9. https://shop.fender.com/en-NL/electric-basses/precision-bass/player-precision-bass-left-handed/0149822506.html#start=1 There you go. Choice of 3-tone sunburst and white with a pau ferro fingerboard, or black and tidepool with a maple fingerboard.
  10. I wanted to play guitar ever since I started listening to metal. I can't think of a specific song, but when I picked up the album "Mandylion" by The Gathering the urge became irresistable. I picked up my first bass a few years later, and it quickly became my main instrument. Iron Maiden may have a little something to do with that, with Steve Harris' clear and bright attack always very present in the mix. It might also be due to The Gathering's album "How To Measure A Planet". The soloed, overdriven bass riff to "Probably Built in the 50s" always sounded awesome to me (and still does) and it was impossible to reproduce with a regular guitar. And I definitely blame Rage Against The Machine's debut album for a large part!
  11. Wow, sold with only 3 bids for 640 GBP.
  12. Looks like this beautiful Roscoe fretless 6-string is going away cheap on eBay! Seller is Deezbar of this board. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Left-handed-Roscoe-SKB-6-String-fretless-Bass/253657500840?hash=item3b0f2a4ca8:g:wnsAAOSwiHZbDnnP
  13. As a beer enthousiast, I was referring to IdrinkHeineken
  14. Somewhere in June, and no. I read it on leftybassist.com, it was posted by a member who works in a music store and got a mailing from Fender. Supposedly they're replacing the MIM Standard series, same way the American Professional replaced the American Standard.
  15. Awesome! I'm looking at getting one for my Jazz. I love the varitone in my old righty Ibanez ST924, and kinda liked the one in my Aria SB-1000 too. Would be a great solution.
  16. That's not a username to be proud of Nice find, cool bass! Those old USA Peaveys are very underappreciated IMO.
  17. Are they up for sale yet?
  18. I played a Lefay Herr Schwarz 5-string once that blew me away. So beautifully made, well thought-out, and barely any standard parts. Nearly everything was made specifically for or by Lefay. Super comfortable to carry and play, and a great variety of awesome and useful tones via a rotary switch. But I couldn't afford it!
  19. I forgot to mention: it seems both a J and a P will be on offer.
  20. There's a new Player series coming up, made in Mexico, with a choice of maple or pau ferro fingerboard, and apparently not just black and sunburst either.
  21. Holy thread resurrection Batman! For some time a few years ago, Gibson would even install righty wiring harnesses in their lefty SG basses with the jack and tone control flipped
  22. Sire is producing lefty P's these days, with an added J pickup and active 3-band EQ (but also a passive mode). Looks nice, and so far the reviews are raving. I do believe they have a Jazz Bass neck width. But yeah, a MIM level Fender P would have been nice. Especially the Classic Series.
  23. My current number one bass would be my Status S2 Classic 5-string, I love almost everything about it. The looks are a mix of wonderfully quirky 80s and futuristic at the same time. The playability is fantastic, the range of tones almost infinite, and it rarely detunes. Incredible instrument! My amp is actually a bit of a love-hate-affair. I play through an EBS HD350 with an EBS Proline 410, and it sounds great but can be a little pushy and overly middy. I often use an Ampeg SVP-PRO tube preamp straight into the power amp and it's great. One time at a gig with shared backline I played my amp setup through two SWR Goliath II's and they blew me away. Best live tone I ever had. So I guess I may be looking for a new cab
