1. Cool, and nice to see one with the inlay in proper fashion. There are a whole bunch of lefties out there where the Slipknot-S is mirrorred And no, I'm not just talking about Ibanez' own poorly mirrorred promotional pictures where they properly reversed the Ibanez logo but forgot about the S. The basses with that inlay are really out there! It appears to be the case on all lefty PGB1's that were made in Indonesia. Yours is the older Korean version. There is one for sale here in the Netherlands right now: http://link.marktplaats.nl/m870583330
2. Awesome stuff! I've never played one (no lefties available) but I did get to play the twin pickup version once (the RS920) and it was an amazing instrument. I love my RS924 and my MC924's, I hope I'll never have to sell them
3. Too bad, I love TRB's. I have owned two TRB5II's (one in Amber and one in Trans Blue), and both were fantastic basses and great value for money too. I liked the later TRB100x series too, same great feel and same electronics but different body woods (alder instead of ash, with a very pretty maple veneer top).
4. To be honest, I have more than I use right now. It's the 5-strings that got all the fun during the last two years. I don't have my pop noir-band anymore, where I played Nick Cave style dark melodic pop on 4-strings with mostly classic sounds - an Italia Torino hollowbody, a Rickenbacker 4003, my Ibanez Musicians (a LOT!) and at one point even a Big Kydd electric upright. Nowadays I just have my metal band, which suits modern sounding instruments best. I have to punch my way through a full mix with two 7-string guitars and lots of keys (Hammond, synths). I usually just use my Warwick Streamer LX5 for that, and sometimes my Ellio Martina or my Stingray 5. I just sold my Ibanez ATK300, which brings me back to 10 basses. I also have 5 guitars standing around and doing mostly nothing, except for a mid 80s MIJ Squier E-series Strat that I pick up a lot and an MIJ ESP Horizon bolt-on that I sometimes use for writing.
5. I did a review on my 924's once, with some background info on the series: http://basschat.co.u...musician-mc924/ If you're looking for simplicity, I would say the MC900 doesn't really differ from the MC924. It's just an older version with 2 frets less. I'd say you're really looking for an MC800 or MC824, with passive electronics and simple controls but all the great features and construction of the active models
6. The Ibanez is a BTB450QM, I don't really know about its value but I'd say somewhere between 200-300 Pounds.
7. Isn't the C4H already equipped with two MM-style humbuckers? The regular C4 has two soapbars. You're describing a PJ-setup, which slightly puzzles me because there's never been a C4 with PJ. All I can think of is the Cort Action Bass - which shares its bodyshape with the Artisan C4. Why not get a C4H or C5H instead, with the two humbuckers?
8.
My Thumb with the former GK rig:
Wow, they're THAT big? For comparison, that's a 1x12 combo right?
9.
I've never seen a Thomann 'deco' item that showed the actual damage before. I always assumed they were far more damaged than that. This fretless acoustic has a strange looking bit of damage in the heel of the neck. http://www.thomann.d...tic_ba_deko.htm
Surely it must be more than that! There are also two lefty acoustic basses in stock which they labelled as "DEKO", and they included that same picture of the damaged neck heel (but mirrorred), but they also added in the description:
Note: The bass can not be tuned to the usual pitch. There is a risk that the strings thomann come loose from the bridge anchoring. Injury!! Strings only slightly tensioned.
In my head, I also added "ACHTUNG!" in Adolf Hitler's voice when I came across the "Injury!!" bit.
10.
My stage 2 with yinyang inlays:
Gorgeous instrument, but interesting way of mounting your straplocks
11. Looks like a Squier Standard series P-Bass Special.
12. If it has F-holes like you describe, is there a label within the body? It's not unusual for hollowbody instruments to have a label underneath the soundhole where you can find the brand, model, country of origin and / or serial number.
13. This might be easier if we could see the whole bass I've never seen the logo before.
14. Warwick will do any scale length (30", 32", 34", 35") on any bolt-on model, but only through the custom shop program with a price to match.
15.
Strange tuning system. What's the string tension like?
They're regular tuners, just positioned differently to keep it more compact. I've always found those Travelers very interesting, but never got to try one.
16. That's a great price! I paid 500 Euros for my 2003 lefty Streamer LX5 and thought that was a steal too. It quickly became my main bass, it's great. Mine has a gloss lacquer finish rather than the more common stained oil finishes.
17. Closest thing would probably be this: But you'd have to make the bottle opener at the headstock yourself with a bandsaw Edit: there's a maple fingerboard option too, to match the one on the shirt even more closely. And instead of the Tony Levin SLEDGE version, there's also a Classic Sabre in the Mayan Silver finish that closely resembles what you're looking for. And to answer your other question: it's expensive. http://www.ebay.com/...=item4ac35f52b9
18. Not a fan of the headstock shape, but otherwise they look nice. I also like the Hipshot hardware, though I feel they should also offer the option of a vintage bridge for those who don't like big solid Hipshot style A's.
19. Maybe you could ask fellow Bass Chatter bjelkeman. He's got one, and a matching MC900, and is quite the vintage Ibanez nut. He sure seems to know his stuff
20.
see pics
Sheesh, that's narrow Is that a factory 5-string?
I think a picture will explain it most accurately: Left - a "pre-facelift" version, as far as I remember, '92. Right - a "post-facelift" version, '00, in this case, mine
Beautiful! Especially like the post-facelift one, with the slightly more compact build and the slightly deeper cutaways. It makes the top horn look just a bit longer and even more elegant. I bet it's more ergonomic too, with the nut a bit closer towards your body. I also prefer the look of a darker top wood Edit: just noticed the more compact headstock and narrower nut width too. No more straight string pull like the maple-topped one, but it looks nice!
21. This is a creation of Olavi Linden from Finland. The guy is actually a violinist and designer of garden scissors, but he also has a small acoustic guitar and bass company and makes some unique acoustic bass guitars and upright basses with a carbon fibre horn inside the body and multi soundhole technology that produces tremendous volume and bottom end. The one in the pictures is some sort of prototype http://www.lindeninstruments.com/history.html http://www.lindeninstruments.com/instrument.html
22. Looks nice. Is it just me, or does that body look slightly slimmed-down? I don't like it as much as his earlier signature BB's though, the BB1000MA and the BB3000MA. Those have the classic BB shape, but with a slightly shorter top horn, and especially the 3000 with its neck-through-body construction is a highly desirable instrument
23. Here's my lovely '03 Streamer LX5. Ever since I got this, about two years ago, it's the only bass I gig with. I play in a modern metal band and the tone is absolutely perfect with almost no EQ. It's got deep bottom, a slight midscoop and bright and articulate highs. Works great with a little tube growl from my Ampeg preamps, and also takes overdrive and distortion very well when I want to (Fulltone Bassdrive and EBS Metaldrive). Love this bass! I have replaced the gold hardware with black in the mean time since taking these pics.
24.
"The LOUDEST guitar shaped ACOUSTIC BASS"....its an oxymoron, the qualities you ask for don't go hand in hand unless, as it has been said, you go to Double Bass size.
Que? Those can even be had fairly cheap if you can find one. But that's the hard part, unless you're in Mexico... But they're a monster to play, and fretless. And I believe those are nylon strings.
