4. blimey ped, have you seen this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-V-Type-...VQQcmdZViewItem Well, it is the Bass Cellar
5. EBow?
6.
I never knew that! You'd have thought by now he could afford a proper one
Just because something has got a brand logo on it doesn't mean its a better instrument
7. Alright guys you've convinced me, I'm keeping it. Yeah it plays fine and sounds much better than its worth.
8. Brand new set of chrome Warwick "Security Locks", does exactly what is says on the tin. Pic: Price: £8 - can take paypal or personal cheque P&P £1.50 Thanks Tim
9. This was my first bass and has served me well, but now it just never gets played and was gathering dust in the corner of my room. Its still in great shape and has a wonderful sparkly blue finish, only has one very small ding on the lower back horn (not visible from front). It also has an upgraded metal jack plate as the previous one was a flimsy plastic one. Here's what Yamaha have to say "The Yamaha RBX170 represents amazing value yet the quality is everything you would expect from a Yamaha bass. The solid agathis body, sleek, wide-cutaway contours, allowing the player easy access right to the top of the 24-fret, full-scale neck which carries a genuine rosewood fingerboard. Powering is by two punchy, clear-voiced single-coil vintage-style pickups, with the volume and tone controls augmented by a pickup balance control for added sonic versatility and expression." Details: * Solid agathis body * Bolt-on maple neck * 24 Frets * 34 inch Scale Length * Dual P/J-style pickups * Master volume, master tone and pickup balance controls * Chrome vintage style bridge Pics: Price: Only £70 I can take personal cheque or Paypal (if you cover the fees - extra 3.4%) and postage will be £14 or collection from Bournemouth is fine Thanks Tim
10. This is back up for sale as I just feel more comfortable on my Stingray. This is a custom 4 sting jazz bass, built from high quality components to emulate a $3,800 Sadowsky NYC Ultra Vintage Jazz Bass. This bass was previously owned and recently set-up by a Sadowsky NYC employee whose day job is building those $3,800 Sadowsky basses - so it can't be bad right? The reason for sale is simply because I'm broke - otherwise I'd keep it. Details - USA Custom Guitars two piece full size alder body with (natural) oil finish - USA Custom Guitars maple neck with oil finish; jazz profile with 1 1/2 inch width at the nut - Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with beautiful grain - Fretwork by Mike Lull - Frets recently professionally polished by Sadowsky tech - Sadowsky single coil pick-ups - Passive Volume/Volume/Tone controls - Gotoh bridge (similar to Sadowsky OEM) - 70's pickup spacing and SLAPS LIKE A MONSTER If you are wondering about the quality of the body and neck then don't be as they are top notch. It's the same company that Valenti use to get pre-cut jobbies (check out their web: http://www.usacustomguitars.com/index.html. This bass simply knocks spots off the Fender USA Jazz basses I've tried for feel, tone and quality and is very comparible to the high end boutique Jazz basses out there. Just simply things like having a tight neck pocket and no gap between the scratch plate and control plate make a big difference! Has tone for days and in my opinion looks stunning. Condition is very good, only one noticeable ding is to the bottom edge of the body and a slight marking to the upper horn, both of which are not visible from the front. The neck is gorgeous – nice and smooth with no dings. I will also throw in a hard case! Pics Price I'm looking for £600 - which is less than what I paid for it. Thanks Tim
11.
Precisions as well, I tried one and just couldn't get comfortable, the positioning of the p'up was nasty and the tone was just as bad, they're far to large, heavy and I can respect the precision was the father of all basses but I just couldnt see what the fuss is.
I can: http://www.dailymotion.com/related/2787458...om-abbey-road/1
12. Due to many strings threads I thought I would post this to help people find what they are looking for, scroll down to find the table: http://www.bassplayer.com/story.asp?sectio...;storycode=4037 Tim
13. In my experience the problems that come with Ashdown heads generally come up in the first few months of use, if you get through that then they should be fine. Great heads if they work
14. I have a Fender RT 1000 and its great - no tone suckage and is really quick. Havn't tried it with a low B though.
15. I love the sound but the main problem I find is that I'm used to playing my Stingray and anchoring my thumb on the pu - but the tension is just too high for me to do this over the bridge pu on the jazz. I'm trying to do the whole floating thump thing, lets see how that works out.
16. It's got 70's pickup spacing, but the seller sold it to me as 60's. Not much I can do now as it was bought on eBay from USA and feedback has already been left. It's a stunning bass but looks like I'm going to have to shift it on, keep an eye out in the for sale section. For anyone who wants the measurements for a 70's jazz pickup positions from the nut: From nut to front of pickup: 27.5 (maybe 7/16, but the spec is prob. 27.5) From neck to bridge: 3 5/16 (spec is prob. 3/8) What fooled me was the fact the measurements are meant to be from the edge of the pickup - so when I measured 4" from my neck pu to bridge pu that was from pole to pole, fooling me into the fact that I thought they had the 60's spacing. Tim
17. I tried one of these out recently and was mightly impressed for it's price
18. Thanks bleedproof but I managed to find what I was looking for on the net.
19. Sorry its not a Fender, its a "parts" bass
20. I have bought a rather interesting jazz and I can't decide whether it has the 60's or 70's jazz pickups spacing. From pole to pole its 4 inches but it seems the bridge pickup is quite close to the bridge (level with the tone control) and feels kinda tight? So what I need is people who have a Fender jazz (or standard jazz pickup spacing with 34” scale) to post these measurements (in inches) for me: - Distance from nut to neck pickup (to pole piece) - Distance from nut to bridge pickup (to pole piece) Thanks, and remember to say what bass it is! Tim
21. How do you like the markbass cab?
22. Got any more photos of that jazz? Looks hot!
23. Gotta love the SS II's
