1. Great stuff Chris. I'm very interested in what the sub £300 Aspiration will be like as there's so much competition it'll be going up against. I would love to see the brand establish itself and go up against the more popular companies in that price bracket (Ibanez, Squier, Epiphone, Peavey etc).
2. Jeez, those Tradetang things are hideous. It's as if someone described on the phone what it should look like rather than sending a design draft.
3. I have modified your title as we do not allow 'BRAND NEW' equipment to be sold here as that would mean you are a shop.
4. Soliloquy - that is the first Jaydee i've seen and liked ! Nice rabbit/chicken too .
5. I had an audition a few months ago for a covers band. The feedback I got that was between me and the other bassist (who was after me), I was the better player and added to the songs well. But they chose him as he was 'ok' and does some backing vocals .
6. If it's out of sight then the security aspect shouldn't be any different to normal. However - as far as temperature and humidity goes, I'd do it in the summer where the temperature is constantly over 10C, but in winter with frosts ? Very dodgy, I could see damage occuring.
7. I'll be there again. Glad I took my earplugs last time - the only thing that saved me from the percussive tedium. I seem to spend too much time looking at stuff and not playing it when i'm there, need to change that.
8.
Youtube: Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc...any of that rubbish haha.
Fieldy played an Ibanez and Sam Rivers played a ....oh I get your point now...
9. The Corvette $$ 5 I had was awesome, just the neck I couldn't live with. Warwick seem to be more concerned about their brand than credibility with musicians. The older stuff is marvellous and has a great vibe to it (I still want an old Thumb NT5) but to me, they're more concerned with <insert this years signature model> than their core product.
10. I think this may be the case - Warwick seem terribly unfashionable at the moment and the (new) prices have shot up too. I think a Corvette $$ 5 is £1300 (Thomann) and I remember them being £700 when they came out.
11.
KT? Did you mean KS?
Clearly . I will claim confusion with Ken Taylor (Sandberg), but not Ken Barlow.
12.
To help awareness how about making it a sticky in the forums most likely to attract large image files? Or enable an motd style popup when folks first login (the kind that allows the viewer to click to not show it again)?
It is at the top of the forum when logging in and in CAPS, easily seen but many people choose to ignore it (the amount of topic views is evidence of this).
about writing a script to scale down every large image on the server? It looks doable. PHP was mentioned, so am guessing its a Linux server. "convert" in the ImageMagick package works really well and fast at batch rescaling images on the commandline. Have done it many times on folders of images on my own server.
Beyond my skillset and we're planning to upgrade the forum to V3 soon which will allow us to manage the files much better anyway. Also, I expect CPU/disk utilisation would be horrific during this process. Anyway - since this has been revived we've collectively cleared 3GB of files which is enough for now. Will still keep an eye on uploads though and any silly sized ones will be deleted, thanks for your help .
13. If anything - this thread has intrigued me about KT basses. Thankfully I have 3 within an hour of me I can try out. Buying one is a different matter - but wanting one is the first stage.
14. Followed ! I need some new strings for my Progress . Can you drop me a PM with prices etc ? Extra long scale, 36", 5 string, light gauge please.
15. Yes, but there's no way to query that. All I can do ask people to remove stuff, failing that remove the largest & oldest files.
16.
I don't know about that, I've always thought Rickenbackers were crap and Ken Smith instruments were excellent. I am now GAS'ing for a Smith bass, shame they're so hard to find on these shores!
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ss_guitars.html
17. No, image links take up no space on the server . Just deleted 2 JPEGs someone just uploaded @ 8MB each... guess they missed the news !
18. 8.3MB JPEG ?!?!?!? Sorry you'll have to resize that to something more reasonable and upload it again, I have deleted it.
19. Damn it ! I tried looking on my phone earlier and the pics were too big, now I get on a laptop and they're gone, you better PM me some links to them Grand Wazoo .
20. I've just approved a validating account for Ken Smith, expect a response in the near future.
21. Ok, since 1640 yesterday you've collectively deleted well over 500 (1% of total) attachments and cleared 0.5GB of space. Nice one, keep it going . 10/06/11 1638: Number of Attachments 51,515 Attachments Disk Usage 38097.89MB 11/06/11 0832: Number of Attachments 50,947 Attachments Disk Usage 37632.60MB
22. Good idea, however a thread thats 5 pages long might use a couple of hundred KB at the most, i'd expect short threads to be even smaller. As they are just ASCII text and use tiny amount of space in comparison to images, deleting them wouldn't get much disk space back nor delete the attachments from peoples uploads either, just from visibility . Also - it's entirely possible large images can be just linked using [img] tags which does not take any space up here.
23. That's great thanks johnDeereJack. It's as much about getting rid of stuff you don't need anymore (even if it's not that big) as reducing the size of large files. The forum has been here 4 years, that's plenty of attachments.
24. Have renamed the topic, should get more views cheers Clarky .
