1.
Yeah the only bassist on YouTube who demos basses well is Ed Friedland, because he concentrates on demoing the bass not himself.
+1. Ed is an absolutely legend, I've messaged him before to thank him for no BS in his reviews.
2. Probably because it's relatively easy to sound half decent at it (to a non-player) and it makes the bass sound a lot more distinct than played any other way. When looking for sound samples I like it when they simply play the same riff but with each of the different pickup/EQ options enabled, this will actually tell me what it will sound like - not some machinegun racket of someone trying to be Victor Wooten.
3. I've got some from some NW Bashes (Manchester) in 2005/6, will upload them this weekend.
4. It was my idea and I got nuthin'.
5.
Haha, it's a Stingray for [s]smaller handed[/s] girls.
Fixed it for you .
6. Any prospective buyers are advised to check the Guidelines to ensure that they are happy to purchase from a new member. Also to the seller - you can upload pics to http://www.imageshack.us/ if you are unable to do so here, without images people are likely to ignore your post.
7. Squier Bronco in Torino Red for £110 (in 2002). What a piece of junk.
8. Yeah definately Bass Central - their level of stock is crazy, the website is great for bass pr0n too.
9. I love the contrasting shades in the red, i'd go for that.
10. I can see how many new members/new topics/posts/views and private messages there have been in any given time period, but alas not filter by subforum.
11. This isn't meant to be a scientific survey - just to give an indicator of what peoples usage is. Of course some of the options people could opt to vote more than once on, but that wouldn't tell us how many members had voted. I'll add some N/As.
12.
Is BGM still worth getting? Does it have lots of interesting articles or is it mostly adverts? Is Dood one of the boring adverts at the front or more interesting adverts at the back
It has improved I think, there are a lot of adverts but in not im comparison to Bass Player (that US thing) which I flicked through in WHSMiths and I mistook it for a brochure, there seemed to be hardly anything readable in it, the first 8 pages i'm sure were just ads. The adverts in BGM do get a bit repetitive though (like that stupid advert for a bass course with the kid with a Precision and an eagle coming out of his head). That's been in most copies for the last few years ! Bored of it now. I've got this months copy, have flicked through it quickly to have a laugh at dood but will read it at lunchtime today.
13. So far <1% of the forum have voted, come on people !
14. The disparity between most peoples (current) budget and the seemingly average cost of instruments for sale at the moment is quite significant. I think there's a lot more people selling expensive instruments at the moment than there are buying them (lack of funds seems to blame) and the answers so far seem to correlate this.
15. There's an interesting trend forming I think, let's see how it develops !
16. I find the obvious template people are given to be terribly off putting and very lazy. Also most of the bassists quizzed seem to use Precisions into Ampegs, a bit cliched ! Bring back Weekend Warrior...
17. Out of sheer curiosity, I would like to know what kind of usage people get out of the For Sale forum(s). There is no commercial angle to this, i've just noticed how hard it is to sell things at the moment (for myself and others). I don't think the prices are the issue (best value i've seen on a lot of things), but just that people don't have the spare wedge at the moment ! All answers are anonymous so no-one will know who has answered what (in terms of privacy for your budget or reasons for selling). The more people that answer here the more of a feel we get for what kind of sales get made here and if most people go for low, middle or high end gear. This should in theory determine how likely you are to shift something ! Feel free to suggest any more poll options. [EDIT - Added poll option for £2000+]
18. Oh well, i'm in last months copy !
19. Did you get yours today ? Hopefully mine is waiting for me.

21. So that's your post after the edit ?! It's still pretty xenophobic and bordering on racism. Whilst it is your prerogative to only allow UK sellers, it is fairly idiotic and embarassing (for you) to suggest that all members from Europe are scammers.
22. I've played a fair few of them, they've all be top notch but I've never felt any affinity to them. I find them a little to 'spaced out' and flat to look at (example here and here) and the aesthetics put me off investigating them in depth.
23. I've had odd things happen with strings when the ball end was at a dodgy angle (compared to other strings), might be worth loosening it and giving it a slight turn.
