1. Ibanez EDA905. Wanted one for my 21st (had been playing about 1 year), tried one in a shop and it felt cheap (was £500). The tone was not good (brittle) and I was very deflated... bought a Yamaha RBX instead.
2.
I love this bass so much, I can understand why so many people sing their praises now.
Now it's all mine, muahahahaha !
3. Agreed on a fair price. A few years ago you'd have been wanting a bit more but Warwicks have awful resale value.
4. New prices are going up (increased costs) and 2nd hand are coming down (lack of demand), can't be good for the market.
5. Not sure how many they expect to sell at that price. I saw some at Birmingham Guitar Show and didn't understand where that price came from at all. The quality looks like it's there but putting out a new model at such a high price seems wrong without having a budget model available too. Ibanez might make some good top end stuff, but I don't think it'll sell at all.
6.
I know theres forum rules about talking about a seller asking price, however I dont care and must say that this is the bargain of the century.
Yeah you're right, but for once the comments are commending the seller !
7. I think prices are poor for 'common' stuff but anything rare or in demand should fare better .
8. Can't wait to try a few at the London Bass Show..
9. Looks good. Nice to see something a little less familiar too !
10. I'm not too bothered, didn't make a special journey, just noticed a shop next door to the Subway (food, not subterranea) i'd emerged from and popped in .
11. Went into a shop today - they only had a Gold Top and red Strat though .
12. I think I need to try one out, they look interesting.
13. 3 out of 4 bands I left never met up again afterwards. Not sure if that's something to be proud of or not !
14. Just wait till he wants to get rid of the drummer .
15. Had it out yet ? When I got my Stingray delivered to work a few years ago I was having a noodle in the office. Couldn't do it where I am now though, a much bigger and stricter place .
16.
Its definitely worth learning to do a good basic setup. Especially if you have basses where the neck shifts at the onset of Summer & winter.
I find I give all of my instruments a setup twice a year for this reason. The difference is significant..
17. I expect if you emailed Ashdown nicely they'd send you some for free.
18. I had a 614 and you're right with the preamp. Go passive ! Definitely same pickups.
19. My first bass was a red Squier Bronco from Express Music in Shirley, Solihull. It cost me £120. I started playing as I already played guitar, but heard parts to songs on bass and wanted to play those too. If anything - the bass solo on Metallica's Cunning Stunts made me buy one.
20. I've had more basses since leaving bands than when I was in them ! Still got the same rig though, it does get cranked occasionally when her indoors and the neighbours are out .
21. I should be attending thanks to niceguyhomer . I'll have a lanyard with Basschat business cards as 'ID', an avatar badge may be a bit much though ! Dood will need a badge as no-one will ever recognise him.
