1. Finally got round to watching the vids (whilst skipping the guitar parts). It's an interesting idea, however I expect a LOT of the sounds are so similar as to be indistinguishable from each other, thus a waste of time. I have respect for them for trying a new approach though, sounds like Sterling Ball got a bit bored of how things are currently (despite releasing a lot of new models recently). I'd definitely like to sit down with one for a few hours and see what happened - am looking forward to seeing some prices.
2. That's a stunner, it might help if you added a cash value to help people know what sort of thing you're looking to trade for . P.s. I can't see any bubinga in that bass ?
3. The simple fact that it is not slow for everyone means it is not a server load issue. It could be a routing issue between your section of the ISP and the BC data centre. Hard to actually do anything about - how long has it been an issue ?
4. Try another browser (Chrome/Firefox etc), does problem still occur ? Also what speed connection are you on, is it going through a wireless or 3G link ? Are any other sites slow ? It's super quick for me.
5. On hold pending buyer pickup tonight .
6. Looks to me like it's all types of businesses at it. They're using the VAT increase as an excuse to just bump the prices by anything they fancy. Was in Morrisons the other day where one product had gone up 40% in a week ! (Seabrook crisps if you're that interested).
7. Forum is busy today - on page 2 in only 6 hours ! *bump*
8. I suppose it's more for guitarists - I know mine has a lot of windings more than my bass string.
9. Had this bass just about 4 years. It's a 1999 MIM model (MN9 serial) in 3 tone sunburst. I added Nordstrand NJ4 pickups to it a couple of years ago (currently £140 a set). They are an immense improvement over the stock pickups and add a lot of character to the sound. Reason for sale is since buying the Thunderbird, I've not picked up the Jazz much. In pretty good nick for 11 years old - no blemish has been added to it since i've had it ! There's a minor scratch on the back of the upper horn that won't show in photos. The back of the neck has yellowed in the sun (made sure I left it there for that reason) and overall it looks lovely. Comes with 3 pickguards, W/B/W, B/W/B and a tortoiseshell one (home made). Also the neck pickup cover... Truss rod nut is semi-stripped but still useable - i'll include the tool I use for it without issue. Asking price is £350 delivered (pickups worth £75 2nd hand). I may entertain trades of basses of a similar value, let me know what you have (no obscurities though please !). Pics !
10. I must support kevthebass here. There has been a lot of squabbling about whether this is a certain bass or not.
11. Verdicts ? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ernie-ball-power-p...ng-winder/35916
12. Hmmm I like both. If I had to have just one though - active.
13. Would be ok if pickguard wasn't so dodgy - really distorts the shape.
14. If it helps, my Overwater is about £2.6k new and it's not going to leave my house either . Looks nice though, but would you go for a solid finish at that price ?
15. For info - the seller is based in Portugal .
16.
Well, their opinion of good tone is quite different to my idea. To me, the Precision has one of the worst bass tones around (as well as being quite ugly and never playing brilliantly). Different vinegar strokes for different folks and all that!
I think we must have different ideas of what the basses role is within a band context hence the stark contrast in perception of the tone of a Precision/T-Bird. To me they're there to sit in the mix of a band and fill out the sound, not to cut through or have an in your face sound. For the latter, I have the Overwater.
17. If you have reasonable speakers on your PC just play along, otherwise you'd need to direct your signal to the linein port on the soundcard and go for headphones. Suppose you could also use the lineout signal into your rig ?
18. Chances of them ACTUALLY having it in stock ?!
19.
I've got to say that I've always thought the T Bird was one of the worst sounding basses out there, next to Fender Precision basses etc etc
Is that meant to be serious ? If so, it's one of the most hilarious things i've ever read ! I'm quite sure there are thousands of players worldwide who feel the Precision is one of the BEST sounding basses out there. Are they all wrong ?
20. Just can't leave the place alone eh ?! P.s. I'll be down at some point next year Mark, we need a catch up.
21. Yeah spotted that the other day, looks pretty hot - would like to see it as a 5/6 string and in some other colour combos !
22. My experience of Vintage basses is mixed, some of their range is very good (pricer stuff) but the low end stuff is well, low end ! I don't think the EST96 can even hold a dim candle to the Ray34, don't sell it.
