1. Nice one ped, I like the way it accentuates the wood grain. Got that one of dood and me ?
2. It's usually women doing the stalking but hey I can be open minded .
3. 20 followers now, thanks chaps .
4. Here's the bass after the last coat of gloss white, have let it harden for 3 weeks before putting all the hardware back on to check it out. Am quite happy with it despite the finish not being that perfect close up (not visible in photos). Also once all the hardware was back on it's less noticeable. Next job is some touching up (ooer) and then wiring it back up.
5. Like I said it won't be used a lot just for announcements etc.. It will only complement the forum not attempt to replace its functionality .
6. Don't get too excited ! It'll be used for any important site news/ events coming up or any outages we experience, hopefully with info on a fix time. Please feel free to add @basschatuk !
7. I added those a while ago - I think someone may have overwritten them ! I will find the person responsible and ensure they are killed swiftly.
8. I don't think it's meaningless - the Lakland ones to my ears are quite transparent. I compared my 55-02 to the website samples (DI'd to headphones) and it was spot on. More manufacturers should do it, it gives an idea what the basic tone of an instrument is and then you can work out yourself what your rig will do to that tone.
9. I'm glad I went there with no money (well, a tenner isn't going to get me far). Happy with my gear at the moment and didn't want grass is greener mode to kick in .
10.
I'm the abnoxious tw@ that was milling about. Nah, I believe you and Ped were around whilst I was having a substandard noodle on the Xotic at Mark's Bass Direct stand.
This one ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...tic_XJ-1T4.html It sounded pretty good to me..
11.
Didn't enjoy Stuart Hamm or didn't enjoy Bass Day?
Stu Hamm as a set I suppose, the only part I found slight enjoyment in was when he did Country Music. I don't remember seeing you there, but then again I have no idea what you look like .
12. Enjoyed looking at the gear, always fun to try out new stuff. Saw a few familiar faces and was good to catch up . Stu Hamm was very talented, but I'll be honest that I didn't enjoy it. Me and ped left before Victor Bailey though as our ears had been 'bassed out' .
13. Machines

DNS issue

On the contrary I had no issues using Virgin or T-Mobile 3G.
14. Looks like it might be more of a bass bash for us lot than anything else ! See you there chaps.
15. We have a non-standard (better) search engine on the forum and it's looks separate process that needs a manual start, alas I don't know the command so will wait for phatmonkey to save us .
16. I have NJ4's in my MIM Jazz. Admittedly it's passive - but it does have that old school vibe to the sound (especially with some old strings on it), I love it. I don't think i've played any basses with Barts that have wowed me so - my biased view is the Nordstrands, would be interested to see how they reacted to some active EQing.
17. If your bass is perfectly in tune when you fret each note up the neck (try it with your tuner) then he must be out of tune with the capo, simples.
18. Went to GuitarGuitar Birmingham a few weeks ago, tried one of the Sadowskys. Can't remember what model 5 string Jazz) it was but it was about £2500. It was a nice bass, but didn't blow me away at all - seemed very expensive for what it was. I'm sure I'd need to play it through my own rig to fully appreciate it but - I wouldn't ever consider one.
19. Ok nice one - will one grade be enough or do I need to work through a few ?
20. Love the body - not sure about the headstock shape though, other than that - awesome.
21. That's the point - it's not possible to define. The above link gives a rough approximation, hence each image is judged on it's own merits. I will try and develop some examples of what isn't allowed, the research i'm sure will be laborious and uninteresting, but that's the price I pay for being a mod .
22. First gloss coat done, looks good - managed to get it in yesterday before it hammered it down. Anyone got any suggestions on how to finish it better to try and get rid of the 'orange peel' ?
23. I find long scale set means for a standard scale 34" bass and super long for 35", but that's for D'Addario - no idea of that's different for LaBella.
