1. I don't think the string is to blame, the string-through bridge is effectively making the scale length longer. Thus standard strings might not fit as seen, i'd be go for strings designed for 35" scale at least.
2. In the same light surfing a website that isn't work related could get someone into trouble. I don't think the website can take responsibility for this and it is down to the member whether this will cause an issue for them. The forum already has a solution with the lofiversion and posts can be made by clicking the link at the top of the lofiversion and resizing your window to hide any possible dodgy images (this has worked for me for 2+ years). I believe the best solution is for any obvious NSFW images to be reported to a moderator. By that I mean under the definition of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_safe_for_work (this would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis as it is hard to define a proper ruleset). Ultimately though, the forum is not responsible for 'safe browsing' at work.
3.
I've got an idea or 2 however it would require website development to be possible. It could also slow down the browsing experience slightly aswell as it would require extras queries on most pages.
Fire me a PM with details ?
4. What has to be considered is that there are over 11000 members on this forum, policing them would be impossible without other users reporting them. Someone could easily have a NSFW avatar and not the first post it's on is the one that you look at with the boss nosing in. I agree that avatars should be policed, but I don't see how would be feasible either. I don't think at the moment it is a great problem, the worst i've seen is something i'd see no worse than on the front on FHM, provocative but not really in the boundaries of NSFW.
5. Avatar choices are a user's prerogative, except if they breach the T&Cs. It may be that we need to clarify this - I will discuss it with the other mods. I think you can't really browse any public content generated website and guarantee avoiding NSFW content.
6. For the ultimate in stealth browsing, use http://basschat.co.uk/lofiversion/ .
7. Hi, this is a bass forum This is starting to smell a little spam like..
8. Please post updates to your original post rather than creating a new thread with a link to the original.
9. Can't go any lower - this will cost me £10 to post due to weight.
10. Phew, I was actually considering selling something.
11. I think everyone IS actually skint ! If I had the cash I would take this off you without a 2nd thought. It's a good price but a bad market currently .
12. I think a Yamaha logo would be too fiddly for that method, looks good though . Just overexposed a stock pic of a silver model and this is what the end result should look like, except without frets and nasty roto strings .
13. There aren't many budget Stingray-a-likes that hit the spot - there seem to be loads of Precisions/Jazzes that are pretty much there on tone (not a hard formula is it ?!) An Ibanez ATK might be up your street for the tone, not sure about the feel though, the neck is likely chunkier.
14. £50 for a sticker ? Wow. Not too sure we're happy with this being on here (encouraging counterfeiting), it might disappear later.
15. You can detune the strings so they're flappy and cut the mids on your amp to the same effect on most basses .
16. I think I need to see it out of the case, the interior is making my eyes hurt . Then again my Dad has a Les Paul Gold Top with a case that has bright pink fur lining..
17. As a former BB614 and current RBX775 owner, I can say they are very different basses. I wouldn't expect to get Fieldy type sounds from the BB - it is a fairly traditional sounding P/J bass. The RBX is much more modern sounding and would suit metal a lot more than the BB. That said - the BB is indeed versatile and can do a more all-round job than the RBX. If it were me though, i'd go for the BB. The RBX375s don't come in the best of colours (dark red, silver and 'jaundice yellow') and look a bit cheap close up. A pewter BB615 should look pretty damned awesome in a metal band and will serve you well.
18. Then it shall be done. I'll do the final sanding today, might pick up some gloss white from the shops and get spraying if it's not too windy outside ! Next thing will be what to do with the headstock, do I put a Yamaha logo back on it (with those inkjet printable waterslides), make my own logo or leave it blank ?

Fantastic, a fitting tribute.
20. It's obviously flat white at the moment, but I think it would be better in a gloss white. Not sure if just putting a normal gloss coat over the top will be hard enough or need a top coat of any variety. Anyone more experienced in this care to assist ?
21. Thread resurrection ! Haven't touched this for nearly a year and it's about time I got it finished. Alas I resprayed a couple of months ago in a fantastic gun metal grey metallic, only for the paint to craze on me a whole 4 weeks after putting a clear gloss top coat on (no pics i'm afraid). A complete resand later (that stuff is TOUGH) and back to the bare wood. I've since decided to go for a solid colour and have primed it back up - but I actually think it looks pretty damned good in pure white.. what do we think ?
22. I think I might have to delete this post and ban funkypenguin, just for giving me GAS - damn you !
23. Have a bump on me, one day I will have one ! Alas the bank said no to this year .
