1. An interesting variation on the singlecut principle. Not sure I like the way the top horn is still outlined in the top wood but it's certainly something original.
2.
Why do you think I have been brushing up on my photography skills?
You should see his facebook updates !
3. They're quite different basses - what sound are you after ? You won't get a Bongo to sound like a Miller Jazz and vice versa.
4. Of all the instruments I reviewed - this is the only one I actually miss !
5. Hi, please see our affiliates market FAQ here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=61745
6. Swapped my Bacchus for Sean's Overwater last week. He was very trusting and accommodating (sent the bass to me and I couldn't send mine till a few days later). Top chap.
7. Feel free to PM any mod you see online at the bottom of the board index in the future .
8. I've only traded basses in the last 4 years and have gone from an 1980 Ibanez Musician bought for £250 and cleaned up, then swapped it for a Stingray and then a few others. Now i'm on an Overwater having put out no money since the Ibanez - for me trading is the best thing to do in a bad market. Of course this never allows you to build up a collection . Now where's that £1200 for a Ricky.. EDIT: Moving this to a more suitable forum .
9. I'm sorry Al but this thread is against the rules You have to state a price !
10. It took me well over 30 seconds to load this page on a 10MB connection - you might want to resize them or put less pics up !
11. Had chance to get used to it now, the EQ is definitely not what i'm used to and is quite subtle, the EQ bands it affects are quite narrow (especially the mid). That said - the EQ doesn't really need much usage, flat - the bass sounds absolutely killer. The sustain on the B is outstanding and every string rings with amazing piano like clarity. I don't even notice the 36" scale now (except when I pick up my Jazz and it feels like a guitar) so all is good . Family photo:
12. poptart made me try one out at Bass Day and I totally concur, it doesn't take long to get used to the fanned frets except maybe with chords at the dusty end. I was very impressed.
13. Hah, the Bacchus does everything I need it to - I just like something new to look at a every few months. I don't see bass valhalla as a destination, but a journey etc..
14. Please add a price to this listing . (Yes I know it's on the link).
15. Machines

Oh Yes!
I like the bass but...... It looks like a Swan Vesta
+1
16. I never had a problem with the pickup positions - it might depend on 'where' you slap to a degree.
17. Took this earlier at my parent's house - the burl maple is seriously gorgeous ! The 36" (yes, 36 !) is a bit of a stretch to the first fret, but i'm sure it will become fairly normal quite quickly. Not quite worked out the tone controls, the frequency centres aren't what i'm used to, can anyone assist on those ?
18. New to me Overwater Progress III Deluxe 5 - traded with leprechaun for Bacchus Venus 5 . Not had chance to give it a play test yet but am very impressed so far ! Will take some pics of my own and get them up in Bass Porn on the weekend.
19. Ebay isn't what it used to be in my mind - far too many people on it now and a lot of them are timewasters. I don't use it at all any more apart from for menial items from big sellers (razor blades etc). I would much rather sell to someone on here I can trust and be confident there is less chance of faff. Of course the only drawback is a lot less people use this site than eBay, i've been unable to sell my Behringer V-Amp for months despite knocking big chunks out of the price, i'd rather keep it collecting dust than have someone mess me about on eBay.
20. So Holly is a white, almost grainless wood, right ?
21. As an owner of it's bigger brother, I can vouch that these basses have a huge tone and £150 for this is a cracking deal (£400 new before being discontinued IIRC).
22. Is this REALLY still here ? Yamaha don't make crap basses.
23. It is, all we be revealed next Tues/Weds.
24. Same here ! Got a little something on the way next week in trade for the Bacchus but keeping quiet for now, don't want to ruin the surprise ! Needless to say I am highly excited, its been a while since I've felt this way about a bass.
25. It's been like this for a while - it helps people to find something if looking for a particular brand. On the reverse side of course, it's a pain if people just want to read others opinions out of curiosity (reading what ever is new). Not sure if it can be set for you to choose between the 2, will see if this is possible.
